[Touch-packages] [Bug 1992105] Re: missing httpform plugin for saslauthd

2022-10-28 Thread Amit
Hi Lena, Would it be possible for this to also be enabled on Ubuntu
20.04 (Focal)? We have some servers that need to run on 20.04 because
of some unrelated software compatibility issues.

Hi Lena, Does this ppa include packages for ARM64? The update/upgrade
steps didn't seem to pull down any packages on my local VM running on
Mac M1 chip.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1992105] Re: missing httpform plugin for saslauthd

2022-10-11 Thread Amit
This works great, thanks!

I did notice that the package version is 2.1.27 while the latest version
is 2.1.28. It's not material to us, but I just thought I'd mention it
in case the build process needs to change for that separately.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1992105] Re: missing httpform plugin for saslauthd

2022-10-07 Thread Amit
Hi, thanks for the quick response!

Yes, this is critical for us because we configure postfix to do SMTP
authentication using an HTTP endpoint on our backend (rather than using
lookup tables etc). The other available auth mechanisms do not allow
for authentication using an HTTP web service.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1807295] [NEW] Sort - Checking & Handling File Types

2018-12-06 Thread Amit Biswas
Public bug reported:

I am not completely sure if you would consider this a bug or not. Sort
like many other applications does not check for file types of the inputs
that are passed in as arguments. Any case, I wanted to entertain the
idea of checking file types
(https://github.com/pkmoore/rrapper/blob/master/anomalies/weird_filetypes.md).
For example, sorting files that of type block/character/fifo does not
make much sense as it will just hang or use up all cpu cycles. The best
implementation of file type checking is in the coreutils application mv
(copy.c).

I have included a patch that adds file type check for the types
mentioned above. Any input or criticism is highly appreciated. I would
be happy to look an an alternative option or otherwise.

Thanks!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1784473] [NEW] Xorg freeze

2018-07-30 Thread Amit Dube
Public bug reported:

After a fresh install of ubuntu 18.04LTS(dual booted with windows 7)
when I selected ubuntu from the grub menu to boot into the OS. But I got
a black screen I waited for few seconds but I was still at black screen.
So, I forced shutdown the laptop. Again in second attempt to login I got
black screen this time I waited for more than a minute and pressed power
button once which suspended the pc then I pressed enter and I was
presented with login screen. To solve the problem I followed this guide
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1029624/ubuntu-18-04-live-boot-leads-to-
blank-screen

and changed quiet splash to nomodeset quiet splash. After applying this fix
there was no black screen at the time of login, but the laptop started to
freeze randomly even when left idle for more than 30 mins it would freeze. I
had force shutdown each time and this happened very frequently.
I again changed nomodeset quiet splash to quiet splash, which again leads to
black screen after selecting ubuntu from the grub menu. I also did RAM test
using Memtest86 from GRUB and everything was fine

systemd-analyze time
Startup finished in 6.015s (kernel) + 1min 26.820s (userspace) = 1min 32.836s
graphical.target reached after 1min 25.472s in userspace

2018-01-16 Thread Amit Khulbe
Hi Marc, Thanks for the update. I hope that your plan to fix these
issues are more or less final. We are transitioning to Ubuntu in our
organization but stuck because of this. Can I tell my users about this
timeline?

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1732172] Re: [CVE] Security Vulnerabilities in OpenSSH on Ubuntu 14.04

2018-01-15 Thread Amit Khulbe
Hi Marc,

We are new to ubuntu and like other are stuck with PCI compliance.
Given that ubuntu will not be providing the patch for above in near future ,can
you let us know any mitigation steps for this. Like installing from Ubuntu17.04
repo or installing it from source?
This would be really helpful to us.

Maybe related, the cursor does not always show the correct image scale

after login, or when hovering specific areas, or on mouse down to
start a dragdrop, the cursor appears 1/4 the expected size.

Attached is a photo of a corrupted cursor (whereas a screenshot with
  Gimp showed the uncorrupted cursor).

Bug description:
  [Impact]

   * There are many Bluetooth devices with battery information inside.
When they are treated as system battery, it will make the system
poweroff/suspend/hibernate when some Bluetooth device has critical low
battery. It is a very annoying behavior for the users. Originally,
there is no such Bluetooth battery information until Ubuntu 12.04
brings linux-quantal-lts and linux-raring-lts, so those linux kernels
  also bring this issue.

  [Test Case]

   * Pair some Bluetooth devices, such as Apple Wireless Mouse or Apple
Wireless Keyboard.
   * Click the power indicator and you can find Apple Wireless Mouse is listed
as system battery, and there is no Apple Wireless Keyboard. If you open
gnome-power-statistics, you can find the 'Supply' field of Apple Wireless Mouse
is 'Yes' but it should not be.

  [Regression Potential]

   * There is no obvious regression as I know.

  [Other Info]

   * Most patches are from upstream, modified to fix the conflicts, and made by
the same developer (i.e. fourdollars).
   * We need another patch from
https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=d0a934b764c67b4bf626f5b7cf725a6e3066afd2
to make Apple Wireless Keyboard showing.

  [Original Bug Description]

This is a weird one... the system is an HP Pavilion 23 All In One and
is powered by a large power supply brick.

I currently have an Apple Magic Mouse connected via Bluetooth. As
soon as the mouse is connected, the Battery indicator shows up and
clicking on that shows that the system is reading my mouse as a
  battery!

See the attached screen shot for what I see in the Power status.

  Looking at hcitool:
  ubuntu@201206-11396:~$ hcitool dev
  Devices:
   hci0 9C:B7:0D:80:71:DB

To make matters even more weird, I actually observed the battery
indicator go from full to Critically Low and the system suspended
itself. Keep in mind, again, that this system has NO battery, it's
reading my bluetooth mouse as a battery device.

I disconnected the magic mouse and the battery indicator went to Empty
Red outline and status showed Battery Disconnected.
