[Touch-packages] [Bug 1332100] Re: Colour combination makes qt tooltips unreadable in Unity

2014-10-30 Thread samquad
I have also a theme problem.
Ubuntu 14.04 64bits.
After testing environment kubuntu I removed kubuntu desktop because I prefer
unity .
I use applications like gwenview using KDE dependencies in ubuntu desktop unity
.
I uninstalled KDE , but since I have problems in my display unity with the
environment theme ambiance was certainly modified by installing KDE:
- The menu at the top right (to stop the pc or close the session)have the text
black on a dark background
-The Icons that represent files in file explorer are those of kde .

Here is a link to the screenshot of my screen unity copy:
https://www.dropbox.com/sc/1wipwhsclmpqvis/AAB5chuMDk4Tlj4cwvQorOJ7a?no_redirect_to_colle

I tried to reapply the ambiance default theme with Unity Tweak Tool but
it changes nothing.

Can you help me to correctly reset the ambiance theme of unity .

Colour combination makes qt tooltips unreadable in Unity

Status in “ubuntu-themes” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I'm not sure if I'm reporting this against the right package, but I
tried to use kdevelop in the Unity environment and couldn't read its
tooltips because the text is white on a pale yellow background. I
can't find any way to change this. I tried qtconfig, but the Tune
Palette button is disabled for the default GUI Style, and has no
effect if I change the style to something else eg GTK+. However,
qtconfig does overwrite my gtk3 settings.ini with one that makes all
menus appear with black text on a dark grey background!

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1332100] Re: Colour combination makes qt tooltips unreadable in Unity

2014-10-30 Thread Tony Houghton
@samquad A similar thing happened to me a few months ago. IIRC KDE had
changed either ~/.gtkrc-20 or the GTK3 equivalent in ~/.config/gtk-3.0/
(I can't remember the full filename, I'm writing this from a Mac). Just
delete the problem file or remove/change KDE's modifications.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1332100] Re: Colour combination makes qt tooltips unreadable in Unity

2014-09-12 Thread Mark Edgington
This is addressed here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/70599/how-to-
change-tooltip-background-color-in-unity

In short, a workaround (until this is fixed) involves:

1. install unity-tweak-tool: sudo apt-get install unity-tweak-tool
2. run the tool, and modify the theme to something else (Highcontrast and
Adwaita themes work for me).

Also in the askubuntu link above, it is mentioned that you can manually
tweak aspects of individual themes by making modifications to files
within /usr/share/themes. This might be more work, but allows you to
use your preferred theme.

2014-09-12 Thread Mark Edgington
A better workaround than manually modifying files in /usr/share/themes
is to install and use the gnome-color-chooser tool. See the askubuntu
link in comment #3 for details.
