The frequency of crashes has dropped significantly but they are still happening. I used the following command I found over a forum, It seems to be helpful, I have tried this and would share if it works or not... sudo apt-get install --install-recommends linux-generic-lts-vivid xserver-xorg-core-lts-vivid xserver-xorg-lts-vivid xserver-xorg-video- all-lts-vivid xserver-xorg-input-all-lts-vivid libwayland-egl1-mesa-lts- vivid I am not an expert and doesn't exactly know what it does, however, I do know that in my case this upgraded my kernel from 3.13 series to 3.19 series. I updated my system on September 17th, last update was for libcgmonitor0 and the second last update was a dist-upgrade for new kernel after this I have been facing the same problems. My system crashes mainly due to some problem caused by iwlwifi module.
