I have just run your example on a Nexus 7 with devel-proposed channel What I expect to see is the URL of the currently displayed page in the address bar. I’m not sure what you mean? I’m visiting e.g. http://pad.lv/1, just after validating the URL the address bar displays pad.lv (it shortens the URL to the domain name only), then a redirect to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1 happens, and the address bar correctly displays bugs.launchpad.net. So it appears that the URL is updated in the address bar upon redirect.
