Title:
  video decoders don't work correctly

Status in gstreamer1.0 package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Playing videos sometimes just displays black images (audio coming in
clearly) or with one colour channel missing (magenta tint mostly).

Tried with several videos, there seems to be no pattern (avi as well
  as mpeg, different encoders).

A significant amount of first calls (after waiting a period of
minutes) brings up black (no video).

  Ubuntu 17.10
plain installation (with additional media support though)

  ProblemType: Bug
  DistroRelease: Ubuntu 17.10
  Package: libgstreamer1.0-0 1.12.2-1

  Uname: Linux 4.13.0-10-generic x86_64
  ApportVersion: 2.20.7-0ubuntu1
  Architecture: amd64
  CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME
  Date: Tue Sep 12 10:03:44 2017
InstallationDate: Installed on 2017-09-05 (6 days ago)
  InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 17.10 "Artful Aardvark" - Alpha amd64 (20170902)
  SourcePackage: gstreamer1.0
UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install)

Seems so.
Sorry, didn't find it when filing the issue.
Should be merged with 1716250 as the descriptions there are accurate.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1716601] Re: video decoders don't work correctly

2017-09-12 Thread Wolf Rogner
This issue occurs as well if cheese is started.
(the camera had to be installed first via
https://github.com/patjak/bcwc_pcie/wiki/Get-Started - refer to bug #1715717).

The image is tinted magenta (the green channel is not captured).
However taking a still works fine (all channels are captured giving correct
imaging).

Thus I presume the issue has something to do with video en- and
decoding.

(I tried the camera under macOS and it works fine).
