This is a place that makes installables for many os. trac is there for
opensuse. But you will notice that there is support for building for
many other linux distros. You can (1) check out the packaging for trac
and see if it can help or (2) ask the person doing trac to add the
distro you want. It is free to get an account here and start building
for many distros. And, when your dependencies are updated, it will
rebuild your package automatically. I even do this for some device
drivers. I get e-mail when a rebuild happens telling me how it went.

It is really a fantastic service. And very open.

Ubuntu PPA's are a similar idea, though specific to Ubuntu. They can be
a bit hit or miss, however.

[Trac] Warning: Version missmatch Ubuntu Lucid, Trac , jQuery

2010-05-22 Thread Olemis Lang
Hello !

I continued my research so as to finally use Trac in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Lucid . After setting up a clean environment using Py 2.6 I tried to
install TracDeveloper and theme engine. Then I noticed that JS widgets
didn't work . After a short research I noticed that the upgrade is
more traumatic than I thought since Lucid repository *ONLY* offers
jQuery 1.3.x and Trac 0.11.7 OTOH . This means that the default
installation does not work as expected because the aforementioned
version of Trac was developped using jQuery 1.2.x . I remembered what
Michael mentionned in a previous thread about symlinking jQuery and
fixed that by redirecting that link to the old file . Things work
better than before, however I noticed a few things :

  - I used to debug templates with TracDeveloper
context tree , which is dynamically expanded
(and populated ?) using jQuery . I could not
do that because the tree doesn't work anymore.
  - Theme engine's carousel doesn't work with Chrome .
  - No matter what page I visit, the active item in
the mainnav is never highlighted. E.g. on accessing
wiki:WikiStart `Wiki` menu item is not highlighted
(and it should ;o) . I can confirm that .active
is always set to `False` disregarding the section
of the site that I visit .

BTW , considering the current situation,

Q:
  - Is anybody experiencing similar problems ?
  - How could I solve'em ?
  - Does anybody know if Trac 0.12 will be available
in the near future via Ubuntu | Debian backports ?

Thnx in advance !
