Re: [Trisquel-users] very good documentary
Their is a lot of videos out there like this. Many of them are good. Most of them have good and bad parts. Watch a lot of them and get your own picture. Your view will change over time the more you see. Be interested, be open, have a open mind to be able to change your view when new information comes your way. Dont forget to be skeptical because their is a lot of crap out there. Something maybe is true today but with more information that will change, and the new truth will also change and morph over time. See from the angel the information comes from and what image the creator of the documentary/film try to paint so you absorb it easier. A tip is look at the things that today is not acceptable according to education and media. Their you will find a lot of interesting things. The things education, media and politicians is saying over and over and over again is often lies that needs to be alive. Same with things that never gets to the news or is always painted in a certain way or some specific facts is always ignored in the reporting. As in the book 1984 where the telescreen says who you hate. Ignorance is a bliss and it is rampant today. But at the same time people also start questioning more even when more TV series, movies, sport, ignore reality, things to do is so much more today. Very interesting times we live in... Do the Trisquel team like tin foil conspiracy nut case movies being recommended in their forum? For me this is a The troll hole and not Trisquel user thread.

Re: [Trisquel-users] I am looking to build my first computer.
from the inatux page: We can build systems with Coreboot as the BIOS, but there will be some limitations they can flash coreboot but coreboot by default contains some non-free blobs so it might not be a fully free bios it would still be better than the completely non-free bios that comes with the system though
Re: [Trisquel-users] RMS:There's A Systematic Effort To Attack GNU Packages:
My comment regarding RMS comment A Systematic Effort To Attack GNU Packages. The system want power over the people at every level and that is why it removes and attacks alternatives for freedom outside of the system. In Sweden example the propaganda is hard regarding getting rid of cash. Majority of bank office now dont accept cash. With credit card you identify with your person and that card can be shut down and you can be cut of from all your money at any second. Same with smart meters in homes (Everything called smart is in reality bad for people but good for the system), cameras everywhere, black boxes in cars, remote disable cars, listen through mobile phones in rooms. Printers have their yellow dot syndrome/feature. Maybe to track terrorist leaflets source. Why would not the system also attack the only realistic alternative (.i know...) to freedom in computers at peoples homes? Their is probably more security holes but not known TO THE PUBLIC in GNU+Linux. I would surprised if GNU+Linux did not have known security holes in the code or deliberately added by the system. I would not be surprised with Intels Boot Guard lock is a attempt to block Free Software by force because CoreBoot/Libreboot now start working on newer and newer hardware and removing some spy features from the system. The system is a parasite and lives on the peoples work. We work and they take the profit of it and parasite on us. The system is depending on us but we are not depending on us. They are holding us down and deliberately try to destroy and remove everything that give the people freedom from the system/parasite. They must hold us down because if they wouldnt they would die. This if why big corporations and big government want to control everything. This is why huge taxes and just crap in return. Less money for you and then depended on what the government give you for health service, pension, education (indoctrination) and more.

Re: [Trisquel-users] very good documentary
this should be placed in the t-hole being off topic, not because it is a conspiracy documentary/movie. I just finished re-watching it - if you exclude the last five minutes of the video (microchip - that is a story told by a guy and doesn't prove anything nor it is supported by facts) Zeitgeist is excellent. And it contains no conspiracy. Plain facts. It's even better then how I remembered it. Especially the third part - the creation of debt. Highly recommended!

Re: [Trisquel-users] Eric S. Raymond Calls LLVM The Superior Compiler To GCC and defending GCC is futile
I never called it a piece of shit personally. If you actually went through and read the mailing lists entries and the responses, you would get the impression that there is a lot of negativity towards GCC in favor of LLVM. Eric S. Raymond pretty much said GCC was irrelevant now and he wouldn't notice it gone and one maintainer said that he is going to put in LLVM support and doesn't care about RMS' and the FSF's ideology. So in summary, if English isn't your primary language like others on this board, piece of shit is a sensationalized description of what those people mean.

Re: [Trisquel-users] Who of you uses Posteo?
I have been using Openmailbox and am satisfied with it, so I doubt I will make the move at least during this semester, but I like that Posteo uses free scripting for their website and uses Greenpeace energy. The only con I see is no claim of using free software to develop their service like Openmailbox does; though, Openmailbox uses nonfree scripting for their website, but I can circumvent that problem with Icedove.

Re: [Trisquel-users] occupygpl.org wants to make copyleft licenses go away
This website does not deserve any attention. Moreover, the fact that it tries to compare itself to Occupy Wall Street is insulting. It's rather more like the Tea Party. I've heard an anecdote suggesting that companies find it funny that they can take permissively licensed software, use it to enhance their proprietary software, and give nothing back. I don't know whether or not this is true, but even if it isn't, it's exactly the sort of thing permissive licenses invite. All this crap about copyleft being some sort of injustice because corporations don't have the freedom to take away the freedom of their users? It strikes me the same as when the ultra-rich complain about not having freedom to exploit workers, the environment, the economy, etc to make themselves even richer.

If the file is corrupted, that would be an issue for the website hosters, not me. Another alternative is to check the mirror at http://mirror.slingshot.co.nz/pub/linux.conf.au/2015/Case_Room_2/Thursday/Considering_the_Future_of_Copyleft_How_Will_The_Next_Generation_Perceive_GPL.webm and see if that works better. Re: [Trisquel-users] occupygpl.org wants to make copyleft licenses go away
The problem with Copyleft is that it encourages things like FreeBSD vs. Mac OSX. The only reason OSX works out of the box and FreeBSD is no better for it, is that Apple keeps the useful bits to themselves. It defeats the opensource purpose. Re: [Trisquel-users] occupygpl.org wants to make copyleft licenses go away
Why care about people who don't understand a thing or don't want to understand; i could just as well read the google company manifesto or something like that... Just because you're not allowed to use code by some developer and close it up doesn't mean that this developer has suddenly power over you / is controlling your life. Hence your freedom has *not* been taken away, period. It just means that this piece of software won't help you to gain unethical control over other people.

Re: [Trisquel-users] I am looking to build my first computer.
AMD (or ATI) cards are compatible, sure, but they're crap. You won't get any 3-D acceleration with them, in particular. I do wonder what kinds of CPUs they ship, though. If the Intel CPUs are somewhat recent, the AMD card added in would make the system worse, because the Intel integrated GPU would certainly be better.
Re: [Trisquel-users] very good documentary
Guys, you're making us all look a little unintelligent. Study up on scientific theory and statistics, and don't ever forget that the onus of proof is on the one suggesting something is fact. If you watch something like Zeitgeist and then ask others to Prove it's not true - you're essentially the sort of person who would pay for a bear-repelling jacket (normal jacket) because you can't prove it isn't why you aren't being attacked by bears. It's entertaining, it's got absolutely nothing to do with opensource or facts, and it can stop now. Permissive licenses are closer to open source thinking, neither cares too much about freedom.

As t3g said, tables should be used for tables not general layout. The CSS sheet is indeed overriding your HTML, look at the line 46. For most cases its also better to use CSS in separate file(s) for all styling.

Re: [Trisquel-users] occupygpl.org wants to make copyleft licenses go away
I have a feeling Microsoft is going to do the same thing with the .NET Foundation where they release some of the source code in the spirit of loving open source, but their important code to make it all work as a complete package is hidden. That way, a community can improve their code for them and in return, they take that code and make their non-free software better. At the same time, Microsoft is praised for being open and progressive for embracing open source and loving Linux but their ulterior motives are to lock developers into the C# ecosystem on Linux like they do with Windows and be reliant on their non-free tools. I have no need to use C# as I find Python a gorgeous language that is stable and has the backing of a non-profit.
Re: [Trisquel-users] occupygpl.org wants to make copyleft licenses go away
I agree with everything except python being a stable language. No matter which python program i ever used on no matter what system, it was always slow, buggy and crashed in the end. Maybe it's because there are more hobby-python programs out there? I don't know. As a programming language, i don't like how it's so distant to the actual things going on, like memory management and stuff. I like C++ a lot more, even if it's more difficult to learn.
Re: [Trisquel-users] occupygpl.org wants to make copyleft licenses go away

Re: [Trisquel-users] occupygpl.org wants to make copyleft licenses go away
If a Python program suddenly ends, that's because an exception was raised. It's not a problem with the Python interpreter, just a bug in the program (and a lot easier to solve than a segfault, since you have a proper error message). You're wrong to generalize that all Python programs are excessively buggy; take a closer look at your system, there are probably more Python programs you use every day than you realize. Just try aptitude -s remove python2.7, for example. All of those programs that would be removed along with Python 2.7 are at least partially written in Python (and probably some of them are entirely written in Python).
