Just delete all my posts and threads on this website, I can no longer trust myself being on here. PS, I was foolish, forget I exist. David, delete this and all other threads of mine/posts.
[Trisquel-users] systemd sucks so much cock that everyone who likes it should die
The reason, I am writing this thread, IS I AM TIRED OF YOU fuckers thinking you have the right to thumb me down everytime I make any comment you see as critical of systemd. I am done with this infernal forum, you people have crossed the line for the last time. See here: https://trisquel.info/en/forum/parabola-your-initfreedom-issues#comment-137972 He should have left that thread alone. YES SUPERTRAMP YOU! JUST DIE PLEASE! you are a wretched soul and have no right to say anything EVER AGAIN! I LIKED THIS FORUM FOR A TIME, BUT EVER SINCE SO MANY OF YOU HAVE NOT HEEDED ME WHEN I SAY, DON't THUMB ME DOWN FOR SYSTEMD COMMENTS. Just disagree and be done with it, but since you refuse, FUCK POETTERING, REDHAT, SYSTEMD! AND MAGICBANANA AND ESPECIALLY YOU SUPERTRAMP! YOU PICKED ON ME AT THE MOST STUPID TIME POSSIBLE! I HAVE HAD IT!!
Re: [Trisquel-users] Cannot boot after trying MATE Tweak > Interface > Panels
= ) home is not mounted, but xfs_repair says it cannot open /dev/sda5: Device or resource busy. Shall I go for # xfs_repair -L /dev/sdaX ?
[Trisquel-users] Re : Cannot boot after trying MATE Tweak > Interface > Panels
I believe XFS supports all the architectures Linux supports. It is indeed implemented in the kernel. As far as I understand, XFS being 64 bits means it uses 64 bits to address the disk. That allows to have XFS filesystems of size up to 8 exbibytes minus one byte. That is about 8 billions of GiB. :-)
[Trisquel-users] Re : Cannot boot after trying MATE Tweak > Interface > Panels
Yes.
[Trisquel-users] Re : Help updating Python
There is this PPA: https://launchpad.net/~deadsnakes/+archive/ubuntu/ppa?field.series_filter=xenial
[Trisquel-users] Re : The volumen "boot" has only 4, 1 MB disk space remaining.
Do you use a different type of filesystem for /boot and /var than you use for /? If not, I see no point. If you do: why? For performance reasons? It is actually my reason to have /tmp's files on a tmpfs filesystem. But I have a lot of RAM (16 GB) and sometimes generate large temporary files for my work. For most desktop users, I would not recommend it.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Cannot boot after trying MATE Tweak > Interface > Panels
By the way, I am quickly reading now this XFS is a 64-bit thing, while my computer and Trisquel are 32-bit. Maybe I read too quickly...
Re: [Trisquel-users] Cannot boot after trying MATE Tweak > Interface > Panels
Thank you! I got no result by entering # mount | grep home Please have a look at my new image attached. home does not seem to be mounted. Sould I execute the following? # xfs_repair /dev/sda5
[Trisquel-users] Help updating Python
Dear Trisquel users, Is it possible to update Python outside the official repository, and if so, how? I see they make an effort to help proprietary software users with instructions here but I'm not one of them: https://www.python.org/downloads/release/python-371/ Thank you.
[Trisquel-users] Re : Need help installing Freenet on Trisquel 8
I would install the "libfreeimage3" package. It is in Trisquel's repository.
[Trisquel-users] Re : Cannot boot after trying MATE Tweak > Interface > Panels
A priori, the fact you modified the panel layout before the problem occurs is a mere coincidence. Your XFS filesystem to be mounted at /home is corrupted. As the log says, you need to 'umount' it and run 'xfs_repair' on it. If the filesystem is indeed mounted, the following command will tell you the corresponding device: # mount | grep home If that filesystem is /dev/sdaX (where "X" is a number and "a" may actually be another letter if /home is not on the first disk): # umount /home # xfs_repair /dev/sdaX If that is not enough: # xfs_repair -L /dev/sdaX You can also do that from a live system (prefix the commands with "sudo ", without the quotes).
Re: [Trisquel-users] What's your mastodon?
Tried it when it first came out. Very boring 'twas indeed. I only use diaspora. Very rarely too.
Re: [Trisquel-users] The volumen "boot" has only 4, 1 MB disk space remaining.
/ /boot /var /tmp /home That's how adults partition their hard drive.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Need help installing Freenet on Trisquel 8
Thanks. I was able to get Frost to work! But now I'm having issues with FMS. I downloaded and extracted the needed files. When I click on the FMS icon, nothing happens. I guess this is normal in linux, but when I go to localhost:8080 it doesn't connect to FMS. I even waited an hour or two and tried again, but to no avail. So I tried running it in the terminal, and this is the error it gives (there were no log files this time): ./fms: error while loading shared libraries: libfreeimage.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Any ideas?
Re: [Trisquel-users] Is Popcorn Time Legal?
You seem to have interest and knowledge in this subject. Please elaborate your opinions on cc license, CC0, trademarks and attribution. I believe we share very similar views in this matter and your comment looked like fun and I want to hear more! :) Also if you could give a small explanation of what cc license, CC0, trademarks and attribition is and does along with your elaborate views and opinions on it I would read it with enthusiasm. Thank you

Re: [Trisquel-users] Trouble with CD/DVD drive - CDROM not recognized
"I have not yet tried to burn a CDROM" That might be interesting to try. But I fear this may not be an operating system problem but a drive problem. It would also be interesting to take note of the drive's behavior when putting in a disk. Listen for noises to determine what the drive is doing as components move. Do you actually hear the disk spin up once in the drive? If the sounds indicate repeated seeking then the drive is having a hard time reading the disk. Have you tried running one of those cleaning disks through it to see what happens? That once fixed a problem for me when the drive would not recognize disks. Also observe activity lights to see if it's actually reading the drive.
[Trisquel-users] Trouble with CD/DVD drive - CDROM not recognized
After attempting to burn a data cdrom with Brasero, I find that it's not recognized: > dmesg | grep sg1 > sr 1:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg1 type 5 > dmesg | grep sr0 > sr 1:0:0:0: [sr0] scsi3-mmc drive: 24x/24x writer dvd-ram cd/rw xa/form2 cdda tray > Control Center/Disks: > Optiarc DVD RW AD-7710H (1.S0) at /dev/sr0 (Read-Only) > /dev$ sudo mount /dev/sr0 /cdrom/ > mount: no medium found on /dev/sr0 I can see with my unaided eyes that there's data on the disk, but it's not recognized, not even when I ask Brasero to burn another image on top of it. The drive won't recognize a commercial audio CDROM either. This is a used Lenovo T420 on which I have not yet tried to burn a CDROM. TQ_8 operating system. No other issues. Thanks George Langford
