The good part about it is that Hand of Thief needs to be given root

My Mac mini is plenty fast with 2 GB of RAM. (That's all it can address,

Here is the model: http://lowendmac.com/2006/mac-mini-early-2006/

I bought it used with 2 GB of RAM, and I upgraded the processor to a 2 GHz
Core 2 Duo.

The Mac mini has 2 RAM slots, the first one had a 2 GB RAM stick in it, so I
tried putting a 512 MB stick in the other slot. When I pressed the power
button, it didn't turn on. Removing the added stick solved the problem.

Where do the packages come from that make up the Trisquel repository?

LXDE actually seems slower than GNOME Classic, on a 1.4 GHz Pentium M with 1
GB of RAM and a 5400 RPM HDD, so I may switch back to GNOME.

I just noticed that I logged into the LXDE session, not the Trisquel-mini
session.

The Trisquel-mini session does look just like Trisquel Mini.

Instead of removing Gnash, you could use the free Flashblock addon, where you
have to allow Flash to run.

With Abrowser, I type in my username and password into h-node, then the page

It's strange that I can log in correctly with Midori, but not Abrowser.

Here is MAT, (Metadata Anonymisation Toolkit) I never tried it out, and I
don't think it's in the Trisquel repos, but I'm pretty sure it's free[0].

That is a joke. VI in Roman numerals is 6, then 3x that is...

What asthetic changes would be necessary to make vanilla LXDE look the same
as the default LXDE theme in Trisquel Mini?

I am using Trisquel 6 that comes with GNOME Classic by default.

I finally got Trisquel 6.0 working on my Dell Inspiron 8600. I took the hard
drive out of the Inspiron and put it in a Dell Latitude which reports PAE as
one of the CPU's features, installed Trisquel on the drive, installed
fake-pae, (link above, it may have worked anyway if I had not installed it.)

Re: [Trisquel-users] Manually Compiling a Newer Kernel

I wonder why you would want to compile your kernel manually, it doesn't make
the system faster like it used to (in kernel versions 2.2 afaik).

Support for more devices, such as the free Nouveau driver for nVidia cards.

H-node is a free software compatibility database for laptops and other
hardware.
Not all the hardware is tested in Trisquel, some hardware is tested in other
distros, but still should work in Trisquel.

Even if not all the parts work, you should still add it to the database so
others know what parts don't work.

NOOK Simple Touch.

Re: [Trisquel-users] As close as possible

2013-07-09 Thread gameboyab
I was able to root my NOOK with only Trisquel, using ImageWriter to write the
rooting utility onto a MicroSD card.
The rooted NOOK still seems to have nonfree components, as all the stock
applications such as the ebook reader application were still included. When I
was rooting it, I saw an option to remove stock programs; maybe I should try
that.

Re: [Trisquel-users] Compiz on startup

Try downloading Compiz Fusion Icon from the repos. Launch it first. (It is
in the accessories menu) Once launched, it sits next to the clock, and if
you right-click on it, one of the menus is Select Window Manager. Hover
over it, then select Metacity. I'm not sure if it will stay that way, but it
is an easier way to change it back.
