Here, in a nutshell, is something that I have hated about the Internet from the moment I learned about Web analytics. Once you click on something, somewhere, a server notes that you loaded that page. It will note how long you read that page (assuming you go to another page). What it does not record is that you feel that the page is such a piece of crap that you regret clicking on it, and can't unring the bell of clicking on that page. The content on that page brought that thought to my forefront. Apparently the podcast in question is now no longer online. I'm kind of hoping Simmons waits a bit, just because tonight's South Park is going to tackle that team name issue, and said team is playing Thursday Night Football tomorrow. What can I say, it's a rare time when coverage of football provides a rare spot of amusement for me that I can't find in the game. Besides, if Simmons does plan to walk, how Grantland fares under such a departure is probably something that takes a bit of time to noodle through. This is remarkable. I detest Bill Simmons, and ESPN may have found a way to make me like him. If there was ever any doubt about how completely ESPN has sold its soul to the NFL the ESPN book obliterated it some years ago, but this is a good example.
