Here, in a nutshell, is something that I have hated about the Internet from the moment I learned about Web analytics.
Once you click on something, somewhere, a server notes that you loaded that page. It will note how long you read that page (assuming you go to another page). What it does not record is that you feel that the page is such a piece of crap that you regret clicking on it, and can't unring the bell of clicking on that page. The content on that page brought that thought to my forefront.
