[twsocket] OT: Mustangpeak Virtual Shell Tools

2011-09-06 Thread Angus Robertson - Magenta Systems Ltd
Has anyone used Virtual Shell Tools from Mustangpeak?

The Mustangpeak site has disappeared and Jim the author has abandoned
everything, although the code has all been left in an SVN repository.

Development seems to have stopped around 2007, although the excellent
UltraExplorer tool that I used continually was last updated as a beta in
November 2010, although not released.

I like UltraExplorer and don't want to see it abandoned, I'd also like to
fix a couple of annoyances!

So I'm wondering whether to try and take up maintenance of this stuff,
primarily to keep UltraExplorer alive. The bad news is just the main
form is over 500K with 102 units in uses, including TNT Unicode and lots
of other third party libraries that will be interesting to install.

Naturally, I'll replace Synapse TCP/IP library with ICS FTP.

I think it's not the proper place for this subject but I see no problem here:
take the sources and modify them as you wish, it's OpenSource! I'd also remove
all TNT stuff because it became useless since D2009 but maybe backward
compatibility must be kept.

I use it since years, IMO the best shell library available
for Delphi at least when I started using it. Unfortunately
VirtualTree exists in multiple repositories / flavours with
different bugs. I'll still have to port VST and VT to 64-bit.

Is VT still supported, not updated my one project using it for a while?
VST has quite a lot of assembler, but often for widestring functions that
could probably be replaced by VCL calls for XE2.

Re: [twsocket] ICS v7 for XE2 online now - Thanks

2011-09-06 Thread Lester
I would like to repeat this thanks. I've been a long time user of
ICS-SSL, and very infrequently post (mostly because I never have any
issues), and one thing that's been holding me back purchasing Delphi
(own v7 and 2005, which I've never used) is lack of 64 bit compilers.
I've purchased XE2 Professional now, and as a bonus I can also see I can
compile for OSX. Not needed though, the 64 bit is what has been keeping
me from doing what I love most.

Thanks very much for releasing this. Looks like it's time for another
donation :)

I would like to send a special thank you to both Arno Garrels and

highly expermented volunteers worked hard. Double special thank you to
Arno who made the 64 version alive.
