[U2] U2 - Universe - Sage MAS90 - Experiences?
So I'm in a situation, probably not unlike some of you have found yourselves in before. Our financial department was unhappy with the Accounts Payable system some years back when we were on Ultimate Plus. They purchased an Accounting Package called Sage MAS 90 to run the payables piece and we just dumped data to it every night, etc. Of course, since then, we have long moved to Universe. In that time, we've known some of the Accounts Receivable apps are outdated, but, its just been one of those projects in the heap. And of course priorities seem to always change. Lately, management hopes that they can use the A/R module of Sage MAS 90. However, our POS is still a set of BASIC programs communicating directly with Universe. In my mind, I would think real time communication between the two would be essential. We are a wholesale auto parts business, and when a customer calls for a part, or orders online, our people need to know whether they have credit with us or not. So the credit balances being on another system, and being a day behind would not work. I'm told that Sage MAS 90 uses Providex as a database, and some newer versions use SQL Server- for an extra fee of course. I'm fairly ignorant of the Sage software... Has anyone done any kind of integration like this, where you have made U2 talk to a Sage MAS 90 server in real time for Accounts Receivable purposes? Or do you know of anyone who knows Sage MAS 90, because our current consultant, seems to be clueless? -- John Thompson ___ U2-Users mailing list U2-Users@listserver.u2ug.org http://listserver.u2ug.org/mailman/listinfo/u2-users
Re: [U2] U2 - Universe - Sage MAS90 - Experiences?
We use MAS90, but only for a small portion of our business and there's no real time connection between it and our UD app. We just do a nightly feed of GL data. The standard product does use ProvideX. I know there has been a SQL option but I think it was discontinued. Sage (the provdier) only works through VARs, so you'd need to track one down if you decide you can't roll your own. I've heard good things about Blythe consulting. I could talk more off-line if you'd like, but I don't know that I can offer much. Brad. Re: [U2] [semi-ot] JE Sisk basic book on the eBay
I'd agree with those people, but from a different angle. If I can't find a specific answer in the docs through a search engine, the docs are worthless to me (and I'm far from alone in this). This is why I think Rocket needs to ditch the logins and make all of the documentation library public. Right now, a lot of searches result in the same set of old dynamix docs. Books you buy suffer from the same problem. Re: [U2] Suggestions for flattening Multivalues...
I'll have to check them out...although, in this case, I am pulling informtion from multiple files to make up one table. I developed a system that builds an image in a dynamic array of each of the flattened rows. When it builds the arrary, before writing it, it will read the image already on file based on a key. if the image is different, it writes the old image to a history file with a date/time added to the key, and then writes the new image to a changes file using the source file as an added key, as well as writing the changed image to the saved file. Basicaly, I am left with a set of files (dynamic arrays) which mimic the MySQL tables I have a changes file which only has data which has changed (or is new) to be exported to the MySQL table next time I have a history file so I can compare the changes file against, so only the fields that change are exported. I run through the changes, sorted by the source file it came from (added to the ID when written), the source file tells the export program the name of the sequential output file that holds the INSERT / UPDATE commands Once the SQL files are completed it is pushed into MySQL to do it's thing to update the MySQL database. What is good is that if the MySQL database is ever corrupted, no big deal, truncate everything, and do a full load based on the dynamic images created, as opposed to doing a partial update. But to answer the question, no, its not to be visible from U2 It works pretty good. -- John Thompson ___ U2-Users mailing list U2-Users@listserver.u2ug.org http://listserver.u2ug.org/mailman/listinfo/u2-users ___ U2-Users mailing list U2-Users@listserver.u2ug.org http://listserver.u2ug.org/mailman/listinfo/u2-users
