[U2] Re: U2 Users Digest V1 #718
Stuart, I have a laptop running XP Pro, that has a Virtual PC session running Windows 2000 which in turn runs UV PE (I set all this up in case there were any issues with XP Pro UV, very early in the piece). It has worked quite happily, so I have had no reason to change it. I use it for development testing, to keep stuff away from prying eyes. I believe that a new improved version of Virtual PC is being released shortly (in the next couple of months), so I would perhaps wait until it is released (if you can). Under Virtual PC, I can't write to my CD drive, but I get around that by moving the UV directories from 2000 to the XP area backing them up there. I have found Virtual PC to be one of the most useful offerings to have come out from Microsoft. MARY MULLANE From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [U2] Virtual OS environment for UV I'm interested to know if anyone is using virtual environments to run UV - eg Virtual PC under Win or LPAR under Aix etc. We are thinking that this may be a good way to effectively replicate the live environment for development, testing and training. If so, what has your experience been? Are there licencing issues for UV? Regards, Stuart --- u2-users mailing list u2-users@listserver.u2ug.org To unsubscribe please visit http://listserver.u2ug.org/
[U2] Re: Access to U2 Technical Notes
Ken/Dave, This is in fact a matter that I brought up at a recent IBM U2 Seminar in Melbourne, Australia, which they agreed was an issue, but gave no commitment to rectify. The way it works here is that IBM do not sell you a U2 licence - you have to buy it from a reseller (PRISM or MBS), consequently IBM tells you that you are not their client' so you do not have access to their secure technical notes. If you are an independant contractor, you also discover that none of the end-users are IBM clients are either, so you can't access the info via them. This is something that IBM really needs to address ASAP. MARY MULLANE I agree with you. I am a end-user and we do not have access to IBM'S secure technical notes. I understand that my company may be allowed to purchase software support to allow us to see these restricted documents. Ken Wallis [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: And the good reason why IBM restricts access to this information so only VARs and End-Users with direct support contracts can see it is? Why is this not in a publicly accessible piece of documentation? The number of times I have tried to register for an IBM techconnect ID and been refused because I'm a consultant not a VAR/End User is frustrating! :-( Cheers, Ken --- u2-users mailing list u2-users@listserver.u2ug.org To unsubscribe please visit http://listserver.u2ug.org/

[U2] UV PE for Windows
I was just wondering if anyone knows whether the latest version of UV PE for Windows on the IBM website includes UVADMIN. I would like to download a copy onto my own computer to test some software I am working on for a client, but I need to create several different UV accounts in the process, if it doesn't come with UVADMIN, then how else do I do that ??? Re: [U2] Anyone Had Any Issues With UV WinXP SP ?
Hi Angelo, Yes, it does. You will most likely find that the login is Administrator (or whatever your windows login is), the password will be the windows login password. Regards, MARY MULLANE --- u2-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe please visit http://listserver.u2ug.org/
