Re: [U2] Say Galaxay--multiverse

2011-04-28 Thread Ed Clark
I still have the box that pcVerse came in, and it says Profile. It also has a
cool embossed sticker on it that says Wordmarc Composer. I'm pretty sure that
I bought it from WordMark, who also sold a word processing package. iirc (I
don't have any proof) multiVerse was also from Profile. pcVerse was a
single-user universe clone that ran on windows and os/2 (and at the time
universe itself did not run on windows, afaik). multiVerse was supposed to be
the multiuser version. I remember ads in Pick User Review. It probably died
when vmark announced universe for NT.

Composer. That brings back the memories :-) It was my favourite word

Back in my old Prime days, I actually used WordMARC as my basic programming
editor. You could not start a new program with it because it would through in
some unwanted stuff, but if you just build a new program with a single line of
code, WordMARC worked like a charm after that.

Man! It has been a while since I did that!

Imagine you have a really cool product written in Unidata. Would it
not be equally cool to be able to sell it to someone running Universe
and the smart_O_S (Rocket sos?) would understand it's a Unidata
program and execute that p-code interpreter instead of the Universe
 one? No porting involved...
