2018-08-12 Thread G. Nicholas
Troy,

Regarding personnel change at the top highly unlikely. Robert Pera still owns
about 70% of the stock and if you look at the 600 Million in stock
repurchases the company recently did so he could sell back some of his shares
to Treasury stock without diluting his ownership control to get the cash he
needs to buy up the minority shares of Grizzlies BB team, Robert is still
clearly in control.

This quarter: Uh, actually we didn't see any of that money, but it was

Re: [Ubnt_users] Peak CCQ drops

2017-10-05 Thread G. Nicholas
Forbes,

As long as all your M series radios are XW firmware I would upgrade them to 6.1
and then upgrade your AC radios to 8.4 and then switch to fixed frame mode
75/25
8ms with GPS sync. That is what we are running and on some of our heavy loaded
sites with 12 Prism AC APs it really has cut back on self-interference.

suddenly drop to 60-70% ccq and their pings go from a 30ms average up to
2000+ms only during peak usage.  This seems to run across many
connections to the tower. My techs have tried everything to find the
problem, we run heavy duty Mikrotik routers at that tower and it's fed
by a licensed 11ghz and a fiber fed AF24.

The frequencies are well spaced and these are happening on Prisim AC2
radios (although in mixed mode, non-synced) as one particular customer
is on an XW NB22.  We checked for surrounding customer noise such as
router/AP's, nothing.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: [Ubnt_users] Purchase Agreement

2017-08-21 Thread G. Nicholas
Roy,

Any well written and reviewed by an attorney tower lease should have an
assignment clause.

All the major tower companies include that in their leases. From the tower
companies point of view they will want to keep the new operator as a customer.
The only time I have seen this as an issue was when the seller didn't have
tower
lease contracts just hand shake agreements. If you find that when doing your
pre-purchase due diligence then you want to have the seller get all his tower
leases in writing first.

Re: [Ubnt_users] Firmware Releases

2016-12-22 Thread G. Nicholas
Chris,

Yes in our case but that was probably due to the fact that we had some sectors
with over 25 CPE, which is really more then a rocket AP can handle when we sell
4, 6, and 10Mbps plans, although with the Prisms we now offer a 25 Mbps plan.
The second cpu on the Prism for Airmax really helps. Plus while I can't say
when it will be released, they do have GPS sync capability (in 8.1 Alpha).

Sam,

We are replacing all our old Rocket-M5-ti APs with the Prisms, we like them so
far. Still a few firmware bugs that UB is working on for mixed mode CPE support.

However per the forum, the GPS sync is only supported in the v9 alpha software.
probably not beta until sometime in 2017. I will leave it to Ben or Matt to

Evan,

Yes you have the correct pairing, we just converted a tower site from 4
Prism's on the UB Titanium sectors to the RF Elements 30deg horns. Greatly
reduced the noise floor by going to the 30deg which gave us higher SNR and more
8x rates. doing an ABC channel config until UB actually gets the GPS sync on
the Prisms working. Total capacity on the tower now is over 2 GBps.

Re: [Ubnt_users] Rocket AC UNII-1

Shawn,

The new Rocket-5AC-Prism radio with the metal case and GPS port, it does
support the full range including 5.150-5.250. You need to go under the system
tab and put in the activation key your company was assigned by UB to enable it.

If you are asking about the older plastic Rocket-AC-PTMP without the GPS Ant
port, that hardware does NOT support the 5.150 UNI-1 band.

radios need to be running v5.6-cl-beta6-prod.25433 firmware to add the
capability of the UB radios to contact the AirCRM cloud.

this on NanoBeams as well. We use an internal NTP. What is AirCRM?

2014-12-12 Thread G. Nicholas
Tim,

I think you need to get a new Rep at Streakwave. I just logged in to their
reseller website that shows stock quantity on hand and they have 397 of the
NanoBridge 5G-25 USA version in stock this minute.

On NBE-M5-16 USA they have 468 in stock

They only one they are low on is the NBE-M5-19 USA they have 1 left.

On the NanoBeam M2-400 they have 275 in stock

Re: [Ubnt_users] Rocket ACs

2014-12-11 Thread G. Nicholas
Ben,

Can you clarify something for me, after reading the AC spec document that you
forwarded to the list this morning, it appears the only product that has
airprizm is the Rocket5ACPTP, which does NOT support PTMP. The Rocket5AC-lite
has PTMP with the new 7.1 firmware but no AirPrism or GPS support.

Right now we use Rocket M5-Ti's with GPS sync which is really needed on a tower
with say 6-8 units for Ptmp and 2-4 backhauls, all in 5150-5250 or 5725-5850.

It appears you don't really have an AC 5Ghz solution that is going to allow us
to get the same density.

Re: [Ubnt_users] UBNT SILENCE ?? was New airControl

2014-12-04 Thread G. Nicholas
Kees,

I do not think Robert Pera follows this list, but he did respond to AirCRM
concerns on the Ubiquiti forum:

Hi Guys --

Thanks for all the feedback. Here are some quick thoughts from our side:

1. The goal behind our CRM solution is to level the playing field between Tier
1 operators and you guys. We have invested significant RD resources over the
past couple years towards providing powerful business software technology which
would allow your businesses and networks to scale faster and more efficiently.
Our goal has always been to accelerate the growth of our entire Industry and
make you guys more successful.

2. We have some powerful features planned that take advantage of the
centralized hosting and that is why we decided on a cloud framework

3. A significant piece of Ubiquiti's DNA is about listening to our community.
We hear the message about the local hosting requirement loud and clear. We
have started on it now and will have solution for local hosting

Consider what we have available now as an option to try out. For those of you
that will hold off until the local hosting option is available, please feel
free to try out the UI and direction and let us know what you think.

Thanks,

Robert

 Matt @ UBNT

I do believe it is time for you to go to the upper management and have them
make a comment. The issues that have been so elequently stated in this and
other posts in this last week need to be addressed. The silence from UBNT
is deafening and shakes my confidence in UBNT.

 Please keep us informed.

Guys, you have good points. I believe though, the problem here isn't
just the product, it's the message. The reality is that it wouldn't
take that many more resources to finish and update AC2. I thought it
had a bunch of bells and whistles I could have lived without and that
functionality was more important but that wasn't my call. We fudged
through its inadequacies with the hope that upgrades were coming.
Unfortunately, the Cone of Silence from Ubiquiti on this issue after
more than a year caused me anghst. I can see where this product works
for newcomers to the industry as a billing and CRM product. But I do
agree that those operators that have more than a few hundred users are
going to have serious qualms about opening up their network to an
outside attack or even the possibility that there is some aspect of
security that is out of their control. We pay a lot of money every year
for security products to protect our customers and although we are going
to test and probably startup WISPs to this product, I don't see it as a
large operational management tool specifically because of the unknown
control issue. If Russia can hack our SCADA system, probably the North
Koreans can hack Sony, the Chinese pretty much anything they want to
including our most secured military and technical secrets, I'm a little
nervous letting some outside entity control my network.

Here is my question, if the cloud gets hacked and someone takes down my
network causing me great financial harm (kind of like Green toughcable),
who am I suing? I know the same argument can be made for AirControl now
but that device should be behind a firewall with security at the
operating system level managed by the WISP. The exposure is far lower.

Part of it for me is the perception of UBNT as a company. We aren't
