I've used gimp but don't find it easy to use. Corel draw I've used for years and love how powerful it is. I've also gone to school for design and web development so I was taught the interfaces and how to use them so that may be it too. But for web development I use jedit for writing web sites over using dreamweaver-- Sent from my Palm PreWebDesigner and DeveloperWww.andrewapperley.ca(647) 383-7874On 26 Jun 2011 1:50 p.m., Prateek Jadhwani prateekjadhw...@gmail.com wrote: nope ...gimp rocks...i have never used PS or corel draw...n still able to perform each n every thing that these two s/w ever did..On Sun, Jun 26, 2011 at 11:16 PM, Andrew apperley the.adventure.ish...@gmail.com wrote:

Re: [ubuntu-art] Introduction

2011-06-26 Thread Nicky Hajal
I think they've started to hit a tipping point recently.

I was always a staunch PS user - hated gimp.

Recently, I started designing websites in Inkscape and have been coming to
love it. That's a lot of what I used PS for, so now when I have smaller
graphics editing (not site design) I give it a try in GIMP first. It's
gotten way better the past year or so, IMO.

It certainly has all the power I need, it's just a matter of uncovering it
and getting used to the interface - which is at least as good as PS, I'm
just not totally used to it yet.

The thing about open-source software is that it evolves quickly so you have
to keep an open-mind and give things another try every once in awhile.
