[Bug 51425] Re: reproducible X restarts involving GdkPixbuf-CRITICAL
tried to reproduce this bug on my Thinkpad R40 (ATI Radeon 7500), also running a clean install of dapper, and failed to do so. so, perhaps this has to do w/ TwinView or some other xorg.conf setting and/or the NVidia driver. here's xorg.conf of the above Dell machine: # /etc/X11/xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file) # # This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using # values from the debconf database. # # Edit this file with caution, and see the /etc/X11/xorg.conf manual page. # (Type man /etc/X11/xorg.conf at the shell prompt.) # # This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only* # if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg # package. # # If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated # again, run the following command: # sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg Section Files FontPath/usr/share/X11/fonts/misc FontPath/usr/share/X11/fonts/cyrillic FontPath/usr/share/X11/fonts/100dpi/:unscaled FontPath/usr/share/X11/fonts/75dpi/:unscaled FontPath/usr/share/X11/fonts/Type1 FontPath/usr/share/X11/fonts/100dpi FontPath/usr/share/X11/fonts/75dpi # path to defoma fonts FontPath/var/lib/defoma/x-ttcidfont-conf.d/dirs/TrueType EndSection Section Module Loadi2c Loadbitmap Loadddc Loaddri Loadextmod Loadfreetype Loadglx Loadint10 Loadtype1 Loadvbe EndSection Section InputDevice Identifier Generic Keyboard Driver kbd Option CoreKeyboard Option XkbRules xorg Option XkbModel pc104 Option XkbLayout us EndSection Section InputDevice Identifier Configured Mouse Driver mouse Option CorePointer Option Device/dev/input/mice Option Protocol ExplorerPS/2 Option ZAxisMapping 4 5 Option Emulate3Buttons true EndSection Section InputDevice Driverwacom Identifierstylus OptionDevice/dev/wacom # Change to # /dev/input/event # for USB OptionType stylus OptionForceDevice ISDV4 # Tablet PC ONLY EndSection Section InputDevice Driverwacom Identifiereraser OptionDevice/dev/wacom # Change to # /dev/input/event # for USB OptionType eraser OptionForceDevice ISDV4 # Tablet PC ONLY EndSection Section InputDevice Driverwacom Identifiercursor OptionDevice/dev/wacom # Change to # /dev/input/event # for USB OptionType cursor OptionForceDevice ISDV4 # Tablet PC ONLY EndSection Section Monitor Identifier DELL 1901FP Option DPMS EndSection Section Device Identifier NVIDIA Corporation NV43 [GeForce 6600] Driver nvidia EndSection Section Screen Identifier Default Screen Device NVIDIA Corporation NV43 [GeForce 6600] MonitorDELL 1901FP DefaultDepth24 Option NoLogo Option NvAGP 2 Option TwinView Option MetaModes 1280x1024,1280x1024; 1024x768,1024x768 Option SecondMonitorHorizSync 30.0 - 80.0 Option SecondMonitorVertRefresh 56.0 - 76.0 Option TwinViewOrientation RightOf SubSection Display Depth 1 Modes 1280x1024 1152x864 1024x768 800x600 720x400 640x480 EndSubSection SubSection Display Depth 4 Modes 1280x1024 1152x864 1024x768 800x600 720x400 640x480 EndSubSection SubSection Display Depth 8 Modes 1280x1024 1152x864 1024x768 800x600 720x400 640x480 EndSubSection SubSection Display Depth 15 Modes 1280x1024 1152x864 1024x768 800x600 720x400 640x480 EndSubSection SubSection Display Depth 16 Modes 1280x1024 1152x864 1024x768 800x600 720x400 640x480 EndSubSection SubSection Display Depth 24 Modes 1280x1024 1152x864 1024x768 800x600 720x400 640x480 EndSubSection EndSection Section ServerLayout Identifier Default Layout

[Bug 51784] Re: Network Manager executes wpa_supplicant in too verbose mode
I would agree that it is really quite spammy, but I would imagine it's because it's still very new and the debugging information is useful to collect when it goes wrong. Having said that, it would be great to be able to get more control about how wpa_supplicant is run and also when - I seem to get little pauses in my network traffic every few minutes while it scans for Access Points, even though I am already connected to one (the only one in range, as it happens). -- Network Manager executes wpa_supplicant in too verbose mode https://launchpad.net/bugs/51784 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 32355] Re: Can't set MTU during installation
But it seems ubuntu applications send packets with the Don't Fragment bit set. So this really is an issue. Anyway I wouldn't add any question to the installer. Changing MTU is for expert users (you have to yous registers even on windows). I suggest editing '/etc/network/interfaces' (and using 'man interfaces' to get help). It's simple and it s the right way to do network configuration. During install you can use either 'ifconfig' or 'ip'. [Bug 51807] Re: Firefox equation rendering problem in Ubuntu Dapper Drake
I'm not a different Ubuntu machine now, and I don't see the problem, either. What it was displaying on that machine was \mathcal... and a whole bunch of other notation that was pretty obviously a mathematical notation system rather like TeX or LaTeX. It was doing that for all of the equations on the page. Actually, looking at it now on this machine, I see that what I saw was almost surely the ALT text for the equation graphic, so what was really going on is that the PNG file was somehow blocked on that particular machine and Firefox was just displaying the ALT text. Now why Opera was able to get the PNG is kind of mysterious... Anyway, right now it looks like one of those weird things. If it persists tomorrow, then I'm going to be very suspicious, but I think it was just a temporary weirdness, and I'm sorry to have troubled you--though I'm very impressed by the speed of your responses. -- Firefox equation rendering problem in Ubuntu Dapper Drake https://launchpad.net/bugs/51807 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
