[Bug 18995] Re: Open With dialog not user-friendly
The upstream bug seems to be doing nothing here. Also, it seems to be addressed at a slightly different issue - this bug is that firefox should be able to use the Gnome application chooser, whereas the upstream bug is about creating a new application chooser, or something of that kind. I'm fairly sure that a couple of Ubuntu releases ago firefox used the Gnome application chooser, whereas with the firefox-gnome-support package in dapper it now just uses a file chooser. Has anyone investigated whether it would be difficult to use the Gnome application chooser when firefox-gnome-support is installed? [Bug 53516] Incorrect 5.1 audio when playing DVD
Public bug reported: This problem occurs in Ubuntu Dapper Drake with the following players: VLC, Totem, Gxine and Mplayer. The audio from a DVD or AC3 soundtrack is played through the six speakers. The output however is not 5.1. It is stereo sound that is spread to the 6 speakers (in VLC, Totem or Gxine) or 5.1 sound with the center speaker playing an incorrect channel (in Mplayer, when specifying 6 channel output). That the output is stereo in VLC, Totem and Gxine can easily be heard because the voice plays on the rear and front speakers, while it should only play on the center speaker. Also the surround effects are missing, the front sound is the same as the rear. The soundcard is a Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS, connected to a 5.1 speaker setup. ALSA (v. 1.0.10rc3) is used as output system in all these players. [Bug 53519] After kernel update, system cannot boot because menu.lst hacked badly.
Public bug reported: For bizarre reasons my notebook has the hard drive as the secondary master and the CD-ROM drive as the primary master. This means that my CD-ROM drive is hda and my hard drive is hdc. Upon updating the kernel from a security patch, menu.lst got overwritten with an assumption that my boot drive was /dev/hda. All references to /dev/hdc2 (the root partition) were studiously rewritten to /dev/hda2. This is a bit bizarre in that it seemed to be careful to keep my partitions correct (it kept the 2), but changed the drive around for no observably good reason from c to a. [Bug 53415] Re: Small sized updates should show units on size
The point is: k and M are no real units. So no units are used at all and your complain that we skip the units for small sizes ONLY is wrong, since we skip them for ALL sizes. [Bug 38574] Re: Pb syncing treo 650 on dapper drake
Glad that the kernel update appears to solve this issue, and that setting a non-zero timeout appears to solve the problem with the ttyUSB devices hanging around after a sync completes. I'm pretty sure this latter issue has been solved in gnome-pilot CVS, and the timeout=0 trick is only required for pilot-link 0.12.0 pre-releases (and maybe Suse's patched 0.11.8 version).
