[Bug 77859] Re: Firefox: saved passwords causes crash with Mailman admin page

2007-01-16 Thread Ivailo Stoyanov
I just want to confirm an interim solution for folks who
desperately need to admin mailman lists:

 sudo aptitude install firefox/dapper

IMHO, a better approach, that doesn't sacrifice the latest security
enhancements, is to manually install the official Firefox build from
Mozilla.org following the instructions posted at Daniel Robitaille's
blog[1]. When the fixed FF appears in the Dapper updates, one has just
to remove the symlink /usr/local/bin/firefox and start using the native
FF build.

According to the numerous posts at ubuntuforums.org, the crash doesn't
affect only mailman lists, but also other login pages -- a situation
that the current official FF build manages without any complaints, so
far.

2007-01-16 Thread Pekka Jääskeläinen
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 50014 ***

This is a very painful bug, as a normal computer user is unable to
recover from this situation, as she cannot log in to text mode and
remove files with 'rm' command. This situation occurs eventually in case
you have a small hard disk (e.g., in a laptop) and you update your
packages regularly (without running 'apt-get clean') and/or some of your
daemons freak out and write a log file which fills the HD.

GDM seems to have a similiar bug (Bug #35217).

This bug should be reopened - description from montag

Thank you for the work on that Bryce. It doesn't crash on my box with
your example. The backtrace from the upstream bug you pointed doesn't
really look the same. You can install debug packages from deb
http://people.ubuntu.com/~pitti/ddebs feisty main universe. Having a
backtrace and a valgrind log with libglib2.0-0-dbg libgconf2-4-dbgsym

[Bug 78956] Re: segfault connecting to Rendezvous printer

2007-01-16 Thread Martin Pitt
Indeed, in Edgy I get:

$ nm -D /usr/lib/libnss_mdns*|grep timeval
3a9b T timeval_add
3a72 T timeval_age
39e6 T timeval_cmp
391c T timeval_diff
3ebf T timeval_add
3e96 T timeval_age
3e0a T timeval_cmp
3d40 T timeval_diff
401b T timeval_add
3ff2 T timeval_age
3f66 T timeval_cmp
3e9c T timeval_diff

This is fixed in Feisty:
$ nm -D /usr/lib/libnss_mdns*|grep timeval
$

Thus the dynamic linker should not get confused any more.

[Bug 65451] Re: [UNMETDEPS] gnomesword has unmet dependencies

I'm sorry, I do not agree.

I've built debs of GnomeSword svn on a stock Ubuntu 6.10 with libsword-
dev modified as above since november. Moreover, I'm using it everyday.

There is nothing wrong with GnomeSword.

libsword-dev in Edgy is buggy. Daniel Glassey had provided a fix in
November for Debian.

why a fix to a broken package (aka libsword-dev) takes so long to enter
Edgy?

2007-01-16 Thread Stephen Eisenhauer
I have no leads on reproducing the crash.

I reported a crash, not a bug. The crash handler in Ubuntu isn't really
implemented to discern between the two. If the crash report it
generated isn't useful in any way, then so be it. I'm sorry if I've
merely wasted time.

I tried to reproduce this this morning on a fresh Dapper install. All

I am using apache2, which version of apache are you using (it may came

According to the news page at SixXS all old versions where deprecated

As this is happening to me in more than one application I thought it
could be a hardware problem. In order to exclude RAM failure I ran

[Bug 79531] kde-guidance-powermanager icon transparency issues

2007-01-16 Thread David Johnson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kde-guidance

There is an issue with the kde-guidance-powermanager icons which can
make it impossible to see the charge level when the battery is
discharging, the panel the icon is on is transparent and the desktop
background is dark.

Unlike the charging-* icons the discharging-* icons have the background
of the battery set as transparent, which makes it very difficult to see
the black bars denoting charge level when the panel is transparent and
the background is dark - it looks like the battery is fully charged all
the time.

Setting the background of the battery in the discharging-* images to
white (as it is in the charging-* icons) instead of transparent will fix
the issue.

It would also be nice if the colour of the power icon next to the
charging-* images could be made to stand out more, since it is also
difficult to see against a dark background.
