[Bug 81240] Gnome File Selector makes some left shortcuts disappear
Public bug reported: On Ubuntu Edgy, the gnome save as... file selector makes the home and desktop icons disappear, on the left column. Steps to reproduce : 1- Open a file with gedit that is located in a directory located in ~, such as ~/scripts/hello 2- File -- Save As 3- Browse for other folders Tadam! There is no Home, nor Desktop. However, if you click over the left column, you will see that there is still two empty boxes in the gnome list. If it doesn't work the first time, just cancel the save as dialog, and File -- Save As again. The bug can be reproduced in firefox, or other apps that use the gnome file dialog. ** Affects: libgnomeui (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Gnome File Selector makes some left shortcuts disappear https://launchpad.net/bugs/81240 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 81047] Re: [Feisty]hplip toolbox: PyQt/Qt initialization error
Works as designed ?!? Have a look at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hplip/+bug/54667 and you can see that the hplip Toolbox GUI _needs_ the python-gt3 package. If you don't want that on CD, you have to remove the hplip gui also. Or get a version of the hplip gui, that doesn't need the package and runs without it. But is has to run. A program that's installed by default and not working by default is crap by default ... Any other solution will confuse people. (Not the expert users, but the normal I want it to work out of the box users - and there's much more of them out there using the OS, that we all think is worse, and we want then to use Ubuntu ) Please think about that. -- [Feisty]hplip toolbox: PyQt/Qt initialization error https://launchpad.net/bugs/81047 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Yes, seems to be a dupe of bug #32415. apparently this is fixed starting kernel 2.6.19, so your best best would be to install / upgrade to Ubuntu 7.04 when it comes out, wait for a maintenance release of Ubuntu 6.06 LTS, or compile/install a newer kernel. [Bug 22985] Re: [x700] fails to infer lvds for primary connector on acer ferrari 4005 | card detected, but driver fails to use right output port
Someone who is used to compiling stuff etc. should also just take the latest GIT code and test that. Report if it fixes anything here, and report if the situation remains the same with regards to how it works with current Ubuntu development branch driver which hasn't been updated since edgy. Please also attach both before Xorg.0.log and after Xorg.0.log, unless you check that they are exactly same. Then someone should definitely apply the patch in the upstream bug 5473 attached there already in November (but untestable by the developer since he hasn't got a X700 laptop), and give feedback there if there's any difference between current GIT version and the patched version. While doing this, remember to use prefix=/usr so that you are actually overwriting the feisty-provided drivers when installing etc. :) -- [x700] fails to infer lvds for primary connector on acer ferrari 4005 | card detected, but driver fails to use right output port https://launchpad.net/bugs/22985 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 46475] Re: PCI USB controller causes keyboard to randomly lock up
My Desktop is a Dell Dimension XPS Generation 2. I had lost track of this post here, and forgot to update it with new info about the problem. I am now running Edgy, and still occasionally run into the keyboard locking up every once in a while, however, it seems much less frequent lately (or maybe that's just the luck of the draw and I'll end up getting it more later to make up for it... :P ) Anyway, I have found that when the keyboard locks up, I am able to unplug the PS/2 from the keyboard jack in the back, and then plug it back in to the Mouse PS/2 jack (I use a USB mouse, so that jack is free). After this, the keyboard functions fine! I think it must be some sort of weird race condition where the PS/2 ports get switched inputs for some reason randomly. When I reboot and the ports are back to normal, I must unplug the keyboard and put it back into the port meant for it, so that it will work again. -- PCI USB controller causes keyboard to randomly lock up https://launchpad.net/bugs/46475 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
