Re: [Bug 84465] Re: cannot acces to the select pkg sources window
Hi! I cant attach a screenshot because I can't open the dialog. But I refer to the dialog in wich you can choose the sources(free, security, proposed, universe, multiverse ecc...) of packages for apt. This dialog can be opened both from synaptic and gnome-control-center. if I start gnome-control-center as a normal user after I click the button in the window it also requests the root pwd(as it should be) but after I insert it nothing happens. If I can help someone just explain me :) Thanks, Riccardo -Ursprüngliche Nachricht- Von: Bug 84465 [EMAIL PROTECTED] Gesendet: 12.02.07 19:40:22 An: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Betreff: [Bug 84465] Re: cannot acces to the select pkg sources window Thanks for you bug report. I have the identical problem. It broke for me in Dec 06. Fiesty's 0.10.3-0.1 version has the same problem. Version 0.9-1 has a different, likely similar problem. 0.8-1 seems to be working ok, possibly because it does not need to do the work that upgrade_backups.py is performing. [Bug 75681] Re: initramfs script: race condition between sata and md
From the changelog of mdadm 2.5.6-7ubuntu4: Specify --no-degraded argument to mdadm in initramfs; this can be overridden by setting MD_DEGRADED_ARGS to some nonempty value (eg, a single space). This ought to fix race problems where RAIDs are assembled in degraded mode far too much. (LP #75681 and many dupes.) This looks much more like a work arround than a real fix! I may misunderstand it, please ignore me if this is the case :) Does it mean that I have to enter commands in the initramfs or to do some kind of black magic to boot a system with a broken hard drive ? And it only avoids to desynchronise a working RAID, it does not fix the race at boot time as mdadm does still try to assemble the array with too few drives and thus refuses to assemble it properly later. The array should _not_ be started _at_all_ unless all needed devices have been detected (including spare ones) OR when all device detection is done. So I ask it again, is it any way to make udev send a special signal when devices detection is finished ? Is it any way to make mdadm scan for arrays and assemble them ONLY if all of their devices are present, doing _nothing_ otherwise ? It may be tricky but I think that these problems can only be fixed this way. Anyway, it did work before. -- initramfs script: race condition between sata and md https://launchpad.net/bugs/75681 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 84731] Re: Syncing and merging X.org 7.2
** Description changed: Binary package hint: xorg This bug is meant for monitoring the process of getting X.org 7.2 in Ubuntu for Feisty Fawn. Where do we stand: -Debian has published some packages to experimental -I have synced those and merged some which need merging (epoch, patches etc), and built them in correct order -it is also running on my desktop (XP3000+, Radeon 8500), and I've built gtk+2.0 against the new libs to make sure it doesn't have showstoppers (could build more). Tonight I'll install the packages on my laptop. -it is also a lot less fragile on my Radeon than the previous version. I can crash it using compiz, but now I'm testing a new version of xorg-server which has dropped a few of the 3rd party (Fedora) patches we used to have. So far it is looking better The current list of packages (updated when needed) and their versions is being held at http://users.tkk.fi/~tjaalton/xorg72/xorg-list Where to go from here? I think that most of the libraries/apps are trivial and can be uploaded/synced, and if the intent is to get X.org 7.2 in feisty, we can start by uploading those in this order: * proto: x11proto-core SYNC x11proto-damage SYNC x11proto-input SYNC x11proto-randr SYNC xcb-proto SYNC * lib: libfontenc SYNC xtrans libice libxau SYNC libxdmcp libxfont libxcb SYNC libsm MERGE after those are done, libx11 needs to get in (according to my dependancy-calculations anyway :). It needs a better review of things that might break. After that is done: libxext libxevie libxfixes libxfontcache libxdamage libxcomposite libxrender Then comes libxft, which is xft in Debian (probably a good time to change the name as well). This should be a simple sync, and I discussed with Tollef about this issue: http://lists.debian.org/debian-x/2007/02/msg01195.html and we came to the conclusion that it should not pose a problem. Let's move on: libxi MERGE libxkbfile libxrandr libxres libxt libxpm libxmu MERGE libxv MERGE libxvmc MERGE libxaw MERGE libxcursor libxss After those, we need to sort out mesa libdrm. Mesa-packaging has improved a lot, and it uses quilt now, so while I'm pretty confident that it would work right, maybe a reviewer might see some issues with it. libdrm can be synced. Then comes xorg-server. Currently it works for me, but the 3rd party - patches need to be checked and dropped if needed. Michael Dänzer replied + patches need to be checked and dropped if needed. Michel Dänzer replied to the list that I sent to debian-x: http://lists.debian.org/debian-x/2007/02/msg01303.html and I have a new version which has dropped 107, 108 and 110. So far it feels more robust with compiz than before, so maybe they should be dropped as advised. After xorg-server is sorted, we can push the apps: appres beforelight editres fonttosfnt luit sessreg twm xauth xdm SYNC xf86dga xfs xinit xmodmap and by now we can hopefully just sync the drivers from experimental :) -- Syncing and merging X.org 7.2 https://launchpad.net/bugs/84731 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 84437] Re: apt-get: missing/wrong package in repository
How is it a bug ? Installing this package requires some manual intervention, which will be asked again and again until completed. To get rid of this message you can: * follow the instructions, it worked fine for me * remove the sun-java[56]-doc package If these actions fail, then a bug is present. Then please provide a more detailled description. The zip file could perhaps be downloaded directly without asking (like it is done for the flash plugin), but I guess that this would break sun's license or something. Maybe, launching a browser at the right page would make things much easier for the average user, but saving the file at the right place and giving it to the root user would still require some work. -- apt-get: missing/wrong package in repository https://launchpad.net/bugs/84437 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 84860] Cannot install feisty herd 3 due to modprobe problem (kernel 2.6.20)
Public bug reported: When trying to install feisty herd 3, the computer initially takes a VERY long time to boot from the cd (it seems to stay at the ubuntu logo for ages). a.sappia, thank you for your bug interest, commenting on some random closed bug which doesn't match your problem is confusing and make the work harder for the bugsquad team and the package maintainer, could you open a new bug? -- Gaim always crashes on exit https://launchpad.net/bugs/58135 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hello, thank you for answer me, I can hear my sound in a low voice. A bit better I can hear sound in KRecord, but I don't hear voice anything in KRec and Skype is in a really low voice. By playback I hear sounds very good and I hear system sounds very good, too. -- After sound recording can't hear recorded sound in Kubuntu Feisty https://launchpad.net/bugs/84371 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 84132] Re: firefox crashes when opening confirm dialog box
I cannot reproduce the bug. It seems fairly random. There does not seem to be any pattern to when it happens. It also only happens about once, maybe twice a week so it's hard to match up everything. I can visit the same website after the crash, without rebooting, perform the same steps and the dialogue box will appear without any problem. I am using the standard Ubuntu java package from the repository. I am using Flash - flashplugin-nonfree 7.0.68 I have Delicious 1.2, AdBlock, Tiny Menu, Google Notebook and Greasemonkey installed. I only have one Greasemonkey script; to view Google Reader feeds in Gmail. If anything else comes up I'll let you know. -- firefox crashes when opening confirm dialog box https://launchpad.net/bugs/84132 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

OK. My results. 1.- When I logout/login then ~/.gnome2/share/fonts/fonts.dir is regenerated and contains 0 as before.
