[Bug 84717] k3d python error kills upgrade
When doing the upgrade, when updating the k3d package (3D designer, NOT the DVD burner application k3b) there was a Python error and the upgrade stopped. Leaving an unusable system. Now an issue with the update of k3d is already reported. But the fact that the upgrade died on this is the bug. It would be more user friendly to simply skip the warped package and continue with the next. Reproduce. Edgy with an installed k3d package, start the upgrade with the tool. Re: [Bug 102108] Re: pg_ctlcluster first line should have t not T
Martin, Yes, I agree with you about security. Unfortunately, nothing in the error messages suggested a security issue, and I really didn't understand the T v t thing, other than it worked. I reacted to the apparent resolution with t. I use ubuntu 6.10. I was following this ( http://www.postgresql.org/docs/8.1/interactive/tutorial-start.html) comment from an Ubuntu user, posted on a postgresql site. That was before finding your Ubuntu page. I followed the sequence successfully down to ( pg_ctl -w -l server.log start -o -c listen_addresses= -c unix_socket_directory=$LOCAL_DB), when the process failed repeatedly. I could not start with pg_ctl or postmaster. I couldn't create a db because I didn't have a role, and I couldn't create a role because I didn't have postmaster running. And I couldn't get postmaster started. Then I found your information, followed your process, found the t v T issue, applied it, and everything then worked perfectly. Maybe I've been misled by a sloppy work-around. [Bug 101959] Re: kdesktop crashes
I originally thought this had something to do with xine because having amarok or kaffeine loaded seemed to expediate the crash, apparently that was just chance for about 50 crashes I've had. Or somehow it did relate, I don't know any more. I also thought it had something to do with the screensaver and DPMS, but now I wouldn't even bet on that. Anyway, after leaving my computer running with kdesktop screensavers DPMS enabled (kdesktop has never crashed while I was using it actively) I come back to a crashed kdesktop. -- kdesktop crashes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/101959 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Team, which is a bug contact for kdebase in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 93981] Re: cpulimit crashes while trying to use
Hi, I'm the maintainer of cpulimit in Debian. Some questions/suggestions regarding your bugreport: 1) In the attachment to your report I see: ExecutablePath: /usr/sbin/cpulimit Package: cpulimit 1.1-6 Could you try to upgrade to 1.1-10 (in feisty) to check if the error still exists? 2) Could you please try to run cpulimt as _root_: $ sudo /usr/sbin/cpulimit --path /usr/bin/boinc_client --limit 55 (versions before 1.1-10 had problems when being run without root privileges) 3) Just to be sure: /usr/bin/boinc_client is acutally running? [Bug 99453] Re: kdepim exchange connector doesn't work in offline mode
But there's a good workaround to it available. But that doesn't use the exchange connector at all. Subscribe to all the folder (Calendar/ Tasks/ Notes/ Journal/ Contacts) from the exchange server using dimap. When they are listed in kmail, change their properties. The property to be changed is called Folder Content. Set it accordingly. I think with that you should be done. The merit of this workaround is that when you later open kontact, you don't really need to be having a network connected. It does bring offline functionality. AFAIK, the exchange connector in kdepim has been dead with no maintainer for it. -- kdepim exchange connector doesn't work in offline mode https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/99453 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Team, which is a bug contact for kdepim in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 102322] Feisty Fawn not shutting down
Public bug reported: I installed Feisty Fawn kubuntu (daily build of 29.03.07), the system was updated daily since then. I choose partitioning by user, letting the installer overwrite my old partitions (/, /home, /tmp, /var, /usr and two! swap partitions on different disks, each 500 MB large). Problem: The system hangs when shutting down from within kubuntu, screen blanks and nothing happens, keys are dead so that I have to press power off for 5 seconds. It is possible however to logout the user and then shutdown the computer from the kdm-screen. Maybe this happend because I once tried to suspend to disk, which also froze the computer (because I have two swap partitions and/or swap space is not large enough)? Remarks on the install process: -) On manual install, after selection a partition, the Edit-button has no function. I used the right-mouse-button, which opend a small menue from which I could select to edit the partition. -) I selected German as main language. When selecting partitioning by hand (at step: Die Partition vorbereiten) the instruction of what to do in this step is in english, this could be a showstopper for some.
