[Bug 84717] k3d python error kills upgrade

2007-04-03 Thread phiro
When doing the upgrade, when updating the k3d package (3D designer, NOT the DVD
burner application k3b) there was a Python error and the upgrade stopped.
Leaving an unusable system.
Now an issue with the update of k3d is already reported. But the fact that the
upgrade died on this is the bug. It would be more user friendly to simply skip
the warped package and continue with the next.

Reproduce.
Edgy with an installed k3d package, start the upgrade with the tool.
System hangs with a python error (No version set in a Python file See the k3d
bug against that)
System is left unusable .

Yes, that was the right field. There are indeed proxies/firewalls that
filter streams that contain IST in useragent. However if it didn't fix
for you you probably have a different bug.

You could try to change it to edgy ... as this worked for those with
such a firefox.

Anyway, do you have any extensions installed?

Try to disable them temporarily by starting ffox in safe-mode:

 # firefox -safe-mode

Re: [Bug 102108] Re: pg_ctlcluster first line should have t not T

2007-04-03 Thread richardh9935
Martin,
Yes, I agree with you about security. Unfortunately, nothing in the error
messages suggested a security issue, and I really didn't understand the T v
t thing, other than it worked. I reacted to the apparent resolution with t.

I use ubuntu 6.10.

I was following this (
http://www.postgresql.org/docs/8.1/interactive/tutorial-start.html) comment
from an Ubuntu user, posted on a postgresql site. That was before finding
your Ubuntu page. I followed the sequence successfully down to ( pg_ctl -w
-l server.log start -o -c listen_addresses= -c
unix_socket_directory=$LOCAL_DB), when the process failed repeatedly. I
could not start with pg_ctl or postmaster. I couldn't create a db because I
didn't have a role, and I couldn't create a role because I didn't have
postmaster running. And I couldn't get postmaster started.

Then I found your information, followed your process, found the t v T issue,
applied it, and everything then worked perfectly. Maybe I've been misled by
a sloppy work-around.

Richard.

[Bug 95260] Re: Not enough free disk space

2007-04-03 Thread Boerdy
I have exactly the same problem like Bert Vorenholt.
Tried sudo update-manager -d. After a while i get this message:

Not enough free disk space

The upgrade aborts now. Please free at least 6671k of disk space on
/boot. Empty your trash and remove temporary packages of former
installations using 'sudo apt-get clean'.

Output of 'df -h /boot/':
FilesystemSize Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda1 45M 8.1M 34M 20% /boot

Seems like the upgrade process needs 40MB of free space on /boot (34 are
available plus 6 needed)...

Thanks
Boerdy

[Bug 101959] Re: kdesktop crashes

2007-04-03 Thread Jason Straight \(LeeJunFan\)
I originally thought this had something to do with xine because having amarok
or kaffeine loaded seemed to expediate the crash, apparently that was just
chance for about 50 crashes I've had. Or somehow it did relate, I don't know
any more. I also thought it had something to do with the screensaver and DPMS,
but now I wouldn't even bet on that.
Anyway, after leaving my computer running with kdesktop screensavers DPMS
enabled (kdesktop has never crashed while I was using it actively) I come back
to a crashed kdesktop.

[Bug 102313] dhclient doesn't find any DHCPOFFERS

2007-04-03 Thread Trygve B. Wiig
Public bug reported:

I'm using the P5B motherboard with a RTL8111B integrated NIC. Dapper and
Feisty install the kernel module r8169 as the driver for the NIC. The
card shows up in both network-manager-gnome and ifconfig, but dhclient
(not the network-manager-gnome or ifup either) doesn't find any

there's a DHCP server on the network (the computer is connected directly
to a combined ADSL modem/network router)):

[Bug 93091] Re: tunderbird crashes after startup in 06.06 (3 pane window shown for a second)

2007-04-03 Thread Dmitri Minaev
I experienced the same problem with the same exactly symptoms, besides
that the crash file was created. Removal of Tahoma fonts helped, thanks
to Gregor.

Will anyone need the .crash for investigation?

[Bug 93981] Re: cpulimit crashes while trying to use

2007-04-03 Thread gregor herrmann
Hi,

I'm the maintainer of cpulimit in Debian.

Some questions/suggestions regarding your bugreport:

1) In the attachment to your report I see:
ExecutablePath: /usr/sbin/cpulimit
Package: cpulimit 1.1-6

Could you try to upgrade to 1.1-10 (in feisty) to check if the error
still exists?

2) Could you please try to run cpulimt as _root_:
$ sudo /usr/sbin/cpulimit --path /usr/bin/boinc_client --limit 55
(versions before 1.1-10 had problems when being run without root privileges)

3) Just to be sure: /usr/bin/boinc_client is acutally running?

Cheers,
gregor

interesting thing is that in nsBlockFrame.cpp:5972 there is no code that

[Bug 99453] Re: kdepim exchange connector doesn't work in offline mode

2007-04-03 Thread Ritesh Raj Sarraf
But there's a good workaround to it available. But that doesn't use the
exchange connector at all.

Subscribe to all the folder (Calendar/ Tasks/ Notes/ Journal/ Contacts) from
the exchange server using dimap.
When they are listed in kmail, change their properties. The property to be
changed is called Folder Content. Set it accordingly.

I think with that you should be done.

The merit of this workaround is that when you later open kontact, you
don't really need to be having a network connected. It does bring
offline functionality.

AFAIK, the exchange connector in kdepim has been dead with no maintainer
for it.

[Bug 102322] Feisty Fawn not shutting down

2007-04-03 Thread mase
Public bug reported:

I installed Feisty Fawn kubuntu (daily build of 29.03.07), the system was
updated daily since then. I choose partitioning by user, letting the installer
overwrite my old partitions (/, /home, /tmp, /var, /usr and two! swap
partitions on different disks, each 500 MB large).
Problem: The system hangs when shutting down from within kubuntu, screen blanks
and nothing happens, keys are dead so that I have to press power off for 5
seconds. It is possible however to logout the user and then shutdown the
computer from the kdm-screen. Maybe this happend because I once tried to
suspend to disk, which also froze the computer (because I have two swap
partitions and/or swap space is not large enough)?

Remarks on the install process:
-) On manual install, after selection a partition, the Edit-button has no
function. I used the right-mouse-button, which opend a small menue from which I
could select to edit the partition.
-) I selected German as main language. When selecting partitioning by hand (at
step: Die Partition vorbereiten) the instruction of what to do in this step is
in english, this could be a showstopper for some.

[Bug 102315] Re: [apport] gnome-panel crashed with SIGSEGV in free()

2007-04-03 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks for your bug report. The crash looks like a memory corruption.
Could you try to get a valgrind log for it (you can follow the
instructions from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind for that)?

Thanks for the bug report.
I've tested and approved the patch.
Uploaded with the patch included.
Have you contacted upstream for the patch to merged ?
If not, just let me know, I'll do it.
