[Bug 116748] Inconsistent config after rename of kmail default transport

kmailrc in the [Composer] section as default-transport and transport-

It has not been fixed, alacarte has had some rather horrifyingly ugly

[Bug 116749] Glitch in the Snippets plugin when closing files

2007-05-25 Thread BrianNapoletano
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

The Snippets plugin stops working after opening and closing a file.
Background:
Using Ubuntu Fiesty with Gnome v. 2.18.1 and gedit
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create two UTF-8 text files (text1 and text2)
2. Open file1
3. I was working with custom snippets, although the issue appears to extend to
preformatted snippets as well. So, create a custom snippet and give it a tab
command (I didn't use the hotkeys, but the problem can be reproduced with
those, too).
4. Add some text and use the tab (or hotkey) cues to enter your snippet.
5. Open file2 (Either visually from Nautilus or from the Open menu item)
6. Close file2 (I used the x)
7. Now try to enter your same snippets in file1 using the same commands. You
should find that they are no longer triggering the Snippet plugin.
8. If you close gedit and open it again, the snippets should work again.

Please contact me if any further details are needed.

[Bug 71028] Re: Malformed Apt Source Causes Segfault in Synaptic

2007-05-25 Thread Robert Persson
I can confirm this bug in feisty (synaptic-0.57.11.1ubuntu14). Simply
enter an apt line with the final slash missing and click reload.
Synaptic will crash and will crash again every time you try to start it
until you correct the sources.list in a text editor.

I don't seem to have a /var/crash/*synaptic* though.

[Bug 116750] word processor exits without error after paste of text

2007-05-25 Thread Chris Collins
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

I pasted some relatively complex text from wikipedia (I pasted big o
notation). This is on ubuntu 7. After pasting things seem fine, but
as you scroll through what was pasted you will see that embedded images
are being retrieved. After a few of these I am seeing the application
exit. Obviously you might say dont do that :-} but I only supply the
example as a potential repro.

Thanks

[Bug 116670] Re: Random selected hard disk Ubuntu 7.04

2007-05-25 Thread Martin Pitt
BTW, the BIOS settings are uninteresting for Linux. Linux does its own
hardware detection (not sure about what Windows does nowadays).

I also recommend setting up a RAID-1, that's much more convenient and
robust than your solution.

However, if you want to keep the dd approach but avoid the 'identical
UUID' problem, then I recommend to only dd the partitions, not the
entire raw device.

You installed a package that is not from Ubuntu. Download the package
again and double click on it.

Alternatively you could try to remove it at the dpkg level with the

2007-05-25 Thread Martin Pitt
Hi,

Martijn Faassen [2007-05-24 10:27 -]:
The problem I ran into didn't happen during import-time (probably
because the python 2.4 ctypes bug was already fixed by that time) but
during run-tme. It happened because 'any()' was used in the report code,

Right, that was fixed a while ago in feisty-updates as well.

if you reshuffled the code to make the likely_packaged() check happen
before any report code is called at all, that would be best.

Right, that's what is happening now. apport.report is not even
imported when likely_packaged() fails.

2007-05-25 Thread Martin Pitt
This does not fit the SRU criteria at all, it's neither a really serious
regression nor data loss. Also, it needs to be fixed in gutsy first (the
bug task is still open for gutsy).

This would be an ideal candidate for a backport once it's fixed in
gutsy.

[Bug 74454] Re: [network-admin] net-mgr doesn't remember location

2007-05-25 Thread Bjorn Hansen
Posting here in hopes of getting this bumped to a higher priority; not
sure it's the same bug but the title is exactly acurate:

I am running Ubuntu 7.04 (Feisty Fawn)
to reproduce:

- open network-admin
- (optional, I think) change some settings (for example, I've specified an
alternate DNS server)
- click the save button next to the Location drop down menu; type a name and
click 'Save
- reboot

When you open network manager again, the location will be blank, and the
settings will have gone back to defaults (from dhcp I suspect).
Choosing the saved location does change the settings as expected, but
this is a hassle to have to do every time the computer is booted.

Alternately, instead of rebooting, you can close network-admin and just
run 'sudo dhclient' and it will clear the Location.

Expected behavior would be that one could choose a default location, or
the last used location and settings would be used.

[Bug 116768] nvidia-glx should depend on it's kernel version

2007-05-25 Thread Ernst Persson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20-16-generic

Right now nvidia-glx 1:1.0.9631+2.6.20.5-16.28 only depends on nvidia-
kernel-1.0.9631

But many kernels provide that! Both linux-restricted-modules from 15.20 and
16.28!
Instead it should depend on linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20-16.

Right now linux-restricted modules and linux-image has been built for -16 but
not linux-meta.
So Synaptic will happly upgrade nvidia-glx to -16 without installing the -16
kernel, and breaking nvidia-glx.
