[Bug 127667] Desktop freezes when compiz terminates (on logout or otherwise)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz As of recent gutsy upgrades, when compiz terminates, the entire desktop freezes. [Bug 56894] Re: WLAN disconnects repeatedly from AP when using WPA on a SMP machine
Does Fix Committed mean that I shouldn't be seeing this? 'Cause I do, this on Feisty with 2.6.20-16-generic. Large file tranfers over wifi break, confusing the wifi setup. Interestingly enough, resetting the access point allows me to restore things (by rerunning iwconfig/dhclient on the client). However, I've seen this happen on several different access points now, from three different vendors (Apple, Billion, and D-link). Less intensive use (web browsing) cause no problems, it seems. It may be related to encryption, I've only tested this with WEP (both short and long keys). Reducing the bandwidth to 2Mbit seems to alleviate the problem a bit, but I'm unable to make the setting stick, it gets reset to max at regular intervals. After the network is broken, I noticed that I couldn't make my wifi card associate with the AP, repeated iwconfigs would mostly display not associated, and only occasionally the AP MAC address - which would then disappear at the next invocation. dhclient would broadcast, but never get any replies. This is on a Core 2 Duo Dell 620m. I haven't tested the maxcpus option to see if the problem is related to SMP. -- WLAN disconnects repeatedly from AP when using WPA on a SMP machine https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/56894 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 122979] Re: Video playback gets buggy when Compiz is on
fenix: XShm which is not accelerated by the video card can still be pretty fast (just at the expense of CPU). However you will tend to notice a certain blockiness when the video is scaled up. It is possible that is what you are ending up with. I'm not quite sure why Bug #73471 was forward duped on to this one. It would have been better to back dup this on to #73471 (credit where it's due - the first person to report an issue should have their bug as the canonical one)... However since the deed is done it's not worth changing things. I really would recommend that this bug be split into two though - one bug for Intel AIGLX users and the other for open source ATI AIGLX users (and perhaps a comment linking to the other to help people find the right bug). It think it is possible to add the current locale to the configuration file if it is an utf-8 locale. Re: [Bug 127341] Re: [needs-packaging] UFO:Alien Invasion
That is a fair question. Putting it on the mirrors would make life a lot easier than it is at the moment. It is quite possible that we have 50, less-popular, 5MB applications than this one. If we really can't warrant the space then perhaps we could create a dummy package. That would mean that we could have it get the dependencies sorted (something that some people have had issues with), download the files and start the installer. The installer is pretty good, so that shouldn't cause too many problems. Is there a policy on this issue? After the format I used XP's bootable disc and fixed MBR by (fixmbr) and now the system had only XP with normal boot. Now I booted using Ubuntu 64-bit disc and choose manual partition. I used the same freespace for '/ ' with ReiserFS as the filesys. In the next step, which detects user(s) info from XP, unusually showed none in the list, saysing no user/OS compatible. The installation crashes around 94 to 96% when Configuring Boot Loader Then I formatted the whole HDD (SATA HDD) with DOS fdisk and tried installing Ubuntu from scratch. I kept the / (reiserfs) mount point in the very beginning of the 160 GB disk. The same occured. Then after formatting the whole disk I installed Vista, then booted with Ubuntu, and this time too it ended up the same way. After this I tried in many ways (10 times!!!) which include '/' as Primary, some times as Logical, and some with Extended Dos Partition (logical). [Bug 127649] Re: nm-applet doesn't work unless I start dhclient manually
I've just done a restart and recorded the logs for the entire procedure. When I log in, the first thing that pops up is the keyring dialog asking for the keyring password. I started iwevent in a console (so every event that came up before this doesn't appear), then: (1) I unlocked the keyring. The events from the start until about 09:56:09 are from that time. Then, the NM dialog asking for the wireless password comes up. (Interestingly, the not-associated message at 9:56:27 comes up _after_ the dialog appears. (2) Then I give the network password, and the same thing happens. (The dialog asking for the password appears before the non-associated event. While I was opening a console to start dhclient, I noticed that the cycle of association/disassociation comes up several times, without me entering the password. (3) I start sudo dhclient eth1 and give the network password to NM. The address comes up immediately: ** $ sudo dhclient eth1 [sudo] password for bogdanb: Internet Systems Consortium DHCP Client V3.0.5 Copyright 2004-2006 Internet Systems Consortium. What I noticed for the first time today is that lots of messages from rrd_update appear at the bottom; I didn't notice them before, they might be caused by the fact that yesterday I uninstalled ntpd. Second, during the password entry above I noticed the system clock does something weird; the clock applet wasn't well synchronized with the timestamps given by iwevent; it seemed about a minute fast. If the cause is a timeout as per my suspicion in the first post, maybe it's caused by some re-aligning of the clock at boot.
