[Bug 131040] package drupal5 5.2-1ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 10

2007-08-08 Thread Dax Solomon Umaming
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: drupal5

When installing Drupal5 in Gutsy Tribe 3, Drupal exits with error status 10.
I have to sudo dpkg-reconfigure drupal5 before I can get it working.
Also, during install, it doesn't ask what database to use, it just exits out.

[Bug 131039] Unable to switch user in desktop enviroment

2007-08-08 Thread Davy Cielen
Public bug reported:

When I want to switch user through the Gnome Desktop with XGL and
Compizz, this will give the following error:

first message box:
You do not seem to be logged in on the console,Starting a new login only works
correctly on the console..

second message box:
(gdmflexiserver:18459): Gtk-WARNING **: Ignoring the separator setting Error
while running command

This behavior started only recently, however I don't have any clue about
which update or new software could have been the cause. Recently I have
installed xmms, XChat and Mail Notification.

Steps to reproduce behavior:

System - Quit - Switch User

[Bug 127944] Re: [gutsy] Open Office applications don't start

2007-08-08 Thread Martin Pitt
Seems that this originated from a change in gtk between 2.11.5 and
2.11.6. It still happens with OO.o 2.3.

There is no proper fix in sight for Tribe 4, so we have to bite the
bullet and temporarily add -gtk to Kubuntu for now:

 kubuntu-meta (1.48) gutsy; urgency=low
 .
   * Refreshed dependencies
   * Added openoffice.org-gtk to desktop-recommends-i386, desktop-
 recommends-amd64, desktop-recommends-powerpc. This is a temporary
workaround for LP #127944 for Tribe 4.
   * Added restricted-manager-kde to desktop-recommends-sparc

Moving proper fix target to Tribe 5.

[Bug 85488] Re: some usb_devices fault if usb_suspend enabled

2007-08-08 Thread Sitsofe Wheeler
Mark (azovap002):
I apologise if you thought I was referring to Feisty with a 2.6.20 kernel. I
have not tested this set up and nor will I due to time constraints. The only
thing that I can ask you to do is to try a Gutsy LiveCD and see if the problem
with your scanner remains. As for the firmware issues... I would be surprised
if our firmware were different - can you indicate how to find out what version
of the firmware I am running and can you post the version of firmware your
scanner is running? I will try and sit down and restest the Gutsy LiveCD USB
flash drive support with the scanner plugged into a laptop but this these tests
are becoming torturous in their complexity. The only way for you to know for
sure is to test with a recent Gutsy LiveCD...

[Bug 81951] Re: ld tries to free on a non-existant pointer

2007-08-08 Thread Matthias Klose
I gave you the *** link to the files, did you bother to check?

No, that is a pointer to a website without any information on any
version or any architecture. Sorry for the late reply, but software
included with ubuntu has a priority. I'm closing this report as invalid;
please feel free to reopen if you still want to submit the missing
information.

[Bug 131049] When settings Extra Effects under Desktop Effects in System-Preferences-Appearance, a useless dialog box appears

2007-08-08 Thread Oded Arbel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

(I'm not sure if its the correct package)

When choosing Appearance under System-Preferences, and then going
to Desktop Effects and selecting Extra Effects, a dialog box labeled
Restricted Driver Manager pops up noting that nvidia driver is
already enabled with a single OK button. Clicking the OK button
continues normally without an error, but the dialog box itself is rather
useless.

[Bug 80856] Re: F-Spot as default for importing photos

2007-08-08 Thread Martin Pitt
I heavily object against this in F-Spot's current state. It crashes very
often, import into a selected directory does not work (instead it always
puts them into ~/Photos), the UI is mostly disabled and thus unusable
for me in directory browsing mode, and the directory structure it
creates in ~/Photos is anything but sane and manageable (such as
~/Photos/2007/08/03/1234.jpg).

OTOH g-thumb does not 0wn your photos, has an easy and working import,
some basic features like lossless rotating and EXIF parsing, and does
not crash.

[Bug 113778] Re: Changing hostname using hostname breaks sudo

2007-08-08 Thread rashelleym
Using Dapper Drake 6.06 LTS for 386 architecture, I edited
/etc/hostname directly, and somewhat later discovered that I was locked
out of sudo with the message sudo: unable to lookup [new server name
via gethostbyname(), after (I believe) at least one restart. I had no
idea a script should be invoked when the hostname is changed.

Pat72's comment about simply sudoing the same command over and over
allowed me to unlock it, after between 10 and 20 tries. So this method
of bug reporting seems good to participate in, even to the minor extent
of clarifying that it seems to happen when /etc/hostname is directly
edited, too.

[Bug 130850] Re: Update manager (and Synaptic too) crashes the entire session when trying to make updates

2007-08-08 Thread Michael Vogt
Thanks for your bugreport.

In what way does the session crash? Does it freeze? Do you run compiz
(desktop-effects)? What happens if you run: gksu id, does that freeze
the system as well?

Thanks,
 Michael

[Bug 93487] Re: Gnomebaker crash during CDRW blanking

2007-08-08 Thread Peter Levi
Sorry, currently there's no Ubuntu on my machine.
Does Ubuntu's LiveCD allow you to eject the CD while running (so I can put in a
CDRW to test) ?
Also, I may try to reproduce it in Debian if you think this will help (but I
will need some hint on which packages I need to install to be able to generate
the crash dump).

[Bug 130330] Re: Please re enable oss audio drivers for use on thin clients

2007-08-08 Thread Paul Dufresne
I understand this as a request to make OSS be compiled as a module for the
current kernel, and made blacklisted by default (to avoid bother people who use
ALSA).
Don't even know, as a bug triager, if OSS can be compiled as a module.
I also wonder what is that hardware that is supported by OSS without being
supported by ALSA.
But I guess a kernel developer would know all this, so I am setting this bug as
Confirmed.
