[Bug 116274] Re: [feisty] no currently active network device, won't activate VPN
Also have this problem. would updating the driver help? I have Dell M90 with the intel chip. I could probably switch out to a broadcom if I had to. Is this a network manager problem? or a driver issue? I read somewhere that someone was able to turn on ndiswrapper and get it working. I followed the steps he posted online and got nowhere. This seems to be something people are complaining about in many forums. I think this needs to be a high priority bug. This is critical to users outside the US who need to PPTP to their isp for internet access and need to so over their wifi and corp. users (like myself) who need it for work. -- [feisty] no currently active network device, won't activate VPN https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/116274 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 88152] Re: [nvidia-glx] Switch user/switch VT causes lockup with compiz/beryl/desktop-effects
Regarding the One X per GPU comment: It is not 100% clear whether that comment only covers running two X servers simultaneously off the same GPU (e.g. one card running two different X servers on two different monitors simultaneously) or whether that covers the user switching scenario too (two X servers on the same GPU but not not necessarily changing the screen the same time but rather co-operatively). Someone will have to explicitly ask NVIDIA what that statement does and doesn't cover (ideally with examples). If NVIDIA indicate that the later case is not supported (and can say why) and they do not wish to hear about issues arising from it, then I would recommend a new bug report be created separately from this. That way VT switching issues are kept separate and people having user switching issues on the NVIDIA binary only drivers are at least informed about its situation. -- [nvidia-glx] Switch user/switch VT causes lockup with compiz/beryl/desktop-effects https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/88152 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 103210] Re: ipw3945 Wifi connection is very slow
Me three. Dell C620 with ipw3945, lots of packets dropped, note the Invalid misc and RX dropped in the information below. (Checks to see nobody is listening:) As things seem to be much better connecting to my neighbor's unprotected LAN (SpeedTouch ADSL with wireless, I think), I tried disabling WEP, but it doesn't help against my router (Billionton el- cheapo model). There appears to be an abundance of people reporting similar problems, but the only fix I've seen so far is to replace the router and/or the wifi card. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/showthread.php?t=525300 http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-506271.html http://osdir.com/ml/drivers.ipw3945.devel/2006-11/msg00025.html Here's the relevant output. It seems pretty clear that invalid misc wifi packets in turn become RX dropped packets on the eth1 interface (closely correlated numbers). The enourmous packet drop rate means that web pages load extremely slowly, and often fail entirey. Other computers work against this router, and mine work against others (at least better than this), so my guess is some sort of incompatibility. eth1 IEEE 802.11b ESSID:TV4 Mode:Managed Frequency:2.467 GHz Access Point: 00:04:ED:01:34:18 Bit Rate:11 Mb/s Tx-Power:15 dBm Retry limit:15 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off Power Management:off Link Quality=84/100 Signal level=-50 dBm Noise level=-51 dBm Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:128018 Missed beacon:0 eth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:19:D2:6C:82:10 inet addr:172.30.1.249 Bcast:172.30.255.255 Mask:255.255.0.0 inet6 addr: fe80::219:d2ff:fe6c:8210/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:11526 errors:3523 dropped:131870 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:11301 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:264255001 (252.0 MiB) TX bytes:32472518 (30.9 MiB) Interrupt:17 Base address:0x4000 Memory:ecfff000-ecff -- ipw3945 Wifi connection is very slow https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/103210 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 139686] Re: Pidgin 2.2.0 in Gutsy
Thanks Flávio for providing the binary. Until now it runs without crashes for me. I will continue testing. Can you please check #52801? In my eyes proxy settings is still an issue in pidgin under ubuntu. In the windows version you have a global pidgin setting allowing you to set a proxy/noproxy setting for *all* procotolls and to override it with every account setting. In the ubuntu or maybe linux version you have to set it for each protocol - the global dialog boxes are just missing. You can try to mess around with the Gnome proxy settings but that is still buggy. So my question: Would it be possible to enable this dialogue in 2.2.0? I will attach two screenshots showing the differences. ** Attachment added: windows proxy settings http://launchpadlibrarian.net/9337203/proxy%20settings%20windows.png -- Pidgin 2.2.0 in Gutsy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/139686 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 140625] Terminal window became graphically corrupt
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-terminal Hi, I've just done a clean install of gutsy tribe 5, but with an existing /home partition from 7.04. At first the terminal worked but after installing some packages (don't know which one, I installed a lot) the terminal became corrupt. The terminal window, when run, shows up as a very short very wide window with parts that don't appear. It is also impossible to click on any buttons, I could only close it by hitting Alt+F4. [Bug 121984] Re: kandy: no icon in kubuntu feisty's kde menu
Just found that copying the (48x48) icon over to /usr/share/pixmaps/ makes it appear on the menu item. Apparently, it is just not found otherwise.
