[Bug 145469] Cannot modify task percentages from clock applet

2007-09-27 Thread elyk
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

I am experiencing behavior similar to that reported in Bug # 10908. I am
unable to change the progress percentage of tasks from the clock applet
dropdown. If I double click on the percentage, the field changes and
appears to become editable, but any keypresses are transmitted to the
window below. See the Bug # 10908 for a screenshot identical to the
behavior i am seeing. I am using gnome-panel version 2.20.0.1 (Gutsy
Tribe 5 with all updates as of 9/26).

Ah, ok. That is a wild hack (to put it simple), it calls external

I would say that this doesn't really ask for a dependency.

You could take a look at pgf/tikz, too, which does dvi/ps - pdf
switching automatically. So you can compile a document either with
latex/dvips or with pdflatex

[Bug 134496] Re: After initial reboot, wrong ethernet card is used

2007-09-27 Thread Lars Wirzenius
Alexander, I thought I did that already in my first message to this bug
report: the D-Link card (r8169 driver, MAC 00:17:9a:3a:c9:52) is the
right one, the VIA card is the wrong one (and has no cable attached).

That's also what I tell the installer, of course.

https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/udev/+bug/145382 may be
relevant for my case.

[Bug 92862] Re: Shouldn't be apt-get-centric

2007-09-27 Thread Zygmunt Krynicki
I strongly disagree about not telling the user exactly how to install a
package. This is mostly intended for new users that cannot search
package directory yet and are stuck looking for something they want to
use.

Debian can replace the default value and recommend aptitude instead.

[Bug 144735] Re: After today's update to devmapper, system does not boot successfully

2007-09-27 Thread Robert Vollmert
I can confirm this: For me, the boot doesn't fail because I don't have
any lvm-ed partition automounted (other than root), but manually
mounting partitions fails (too many levels of symbolic links), and
/dev/mapper is full of symlinks like above.

I should note that I'm running a custom self-compiled kernel
(2.6.23-rc3).

[Bug 82368] Re: Usb keyboard doesn't work at log on

2007-09-27 Thread Matthew Craig
Here is a picture of my keyboard:
http://www.fentek-ind.com/kbm85.htm

I love this keyboard. I spent extra just to get rid of the number pad,
so I could type on my lap without it falling off balance.

But, I am ready to buy a new keyboard. Having to unplug and plug-in the
USB cable everyday is annoying. I am hoping someone will see how cute
is this keyboard and save it from the spare parts drawer.

[Bug 145475] mythmusic does not play

2007-09-27 Thread janl
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mythmusic

Hi,

I enjoy mythtv enormously.

But I can't get mythmusic to work. It scans my collection and adds it to
the database. (incidentaly mythweb shows that all tracks are 0:00
long). The interface starts up and I choose a song, which does not play.
the time display does not change from 0:00 and the visualization does
not go. I can press for next and so on. Once I press p for pause
the whole thing freezes hard and I have to kill mythfrontend entirely.

2007-09-27 Thread Ming Hua
请不要在 Launchpad 提交中文 bug 报告。Ubuntu 的开发者里很少有人能看懂中文。如果您无法使用英文提交报告,请到 Ubuntu
的中文邮件 (https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-zh)
列表寻求帮助,描述你的问题并请人代你用英文提交报告。谢谢。

Please don't submit bug reports to Launchpad in Chinese. Few Ubuntu
developers can read Chinese. If you can't write in English, please go
to Ubuntu's Chinese mailing list to seek help, describe your problem
there and ask other people to submit English report for you. Thanks.

 Hi Jean,

I don't have Beryl either, so that isn't it. Most of the time, I can
use the Ctrl+Alt+Fx shortcut keys to get back to the session I want to,
but sometimes I need to use just Alt+Fx instead because it won't work
with the Ctrl key.?? I explained things a little more in detail
previously in this post so I won't go into more detail again here. You
can check my previous posts starting at comment 8 going through comment
 12. It has, but very rarely and with no consistency that I've noticed,
locked up the computer before to where I had to do a hard reboot.

When it needs a reboot, maybe you can still ssh in and kill some of the
programs on the VT thant is active and then ,aybe it will suddenly switch?

[Bug 141551] Re: dri lockup on ati (mobility radeon rv350)

2007-09-27 Thread Tormod Volden
Thanks for the info, excellent debugging. The X server is spinning in a
loop and munging CPU. The repeating ioctl(7, 0x6444, 0) is probably a
DRI request (from Xorg.0.log we can see file descriptor 7 is
/dev/dri/card0 - you can verify it with ls -l /proc/`pgrep Xorg`/fd ).

Can you try to get a stack trace with gdb? You might want to install
debug/symbol packages for xserver-xorg-core, libgl1-mesa-dri and libgl1
-mesa-glx.

[Bug 143979] Re: Creating or editing a smart playlist crashes Banshee

2007-09-27 Thread Pontus Freyhult
This seems to be a duplicate of #143979. I've also reported it as
upstream bug 464362
(http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=464362), but I now think
it's specific to Ubuntu Gutsy.

I guess it shouldn't be that hard to figure out what's happening for
someone who knows what's happened with the libraries between Feisty and
Gutsy.

[Bug 145480] Problem with devices(/dev/sg*) using two scanners

2007-09-27 Thread Hube
Public bug reported:

I've an agfa snapscan 310 scsi connected to de back of an Epson Filmscan 200.
The Epson Filmscan 200 is connected on a scsi card.
Both scanners are recognized on win xp and on linux mandrake 9.2 in
vuescan 8.4.31...

In Ubuntu feisty Fawn 2.6.20-16-generic (under Gnome), it appears that
the devices are changing in /dev/sg*
After a reboot, only the Agfa is recognized but if I change an other
sg* other than the sg* of the scanner Agfa or of the cdrom, and I put it in
scanner group, both scanners are recognized for this session if I restart
vuescan 8.4.31...
The problem is that what is modified in /dev/sg* in a ubuntu session
for the Epson is changed when I reboot the system and then, the Epson will not
be recognized.

For example, after reboot the followings commands give this:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ls /dev/sg* -l
crw-rw 1 root root21, 0 2007-09-26 17:56 /dev/sg0

[Bug 145480] Re: Problem with devices(/dev/sg*) using two scanners

2007-09-27 Thread Hube
The usage of vuescan seems to be necessary because the epson filmscan
200 is not recognized by xsane anyway...

[Bug 134496] Re: After initial reboot, wrong ethernet card is used

2007-09-27 Thread Martin Pitt
Wrt point 3) I don't think it is unreasonable to assume that the default
interface chosen in the installer will also be the default interface in
the installed system. So probably the installer should write persistent-
net.rules, not udev at the first boot.

Re: [Bug 145365] cannot associate with a WPA AP [gutsy, ipw3945]

2007-09-27 Thread Reinhard Tartler
Laurent Bonnaud [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:

on a laptop with the ipw3945 driver, I use knetworkmanager to connect
to various AP. With feisty everything worked very well. Since I
 upgraded to gutsy:
 - connecting to an unencrypted AP still works
 - connecting to a WPA AP does not work.

Two things to try:

If you have an hardware kill switch, please turn it on and off right
after selecting the network location (after the first green light in
nm-applet turned on on gnome's nm-applet, I don't know how
knetworkmanager visualises this).

If that still doesn't work, please try to configure wpa without
knetworkmanager or nm-applet, but just by using /etc/network/interfaces
according to the documentation in
/usr/share/doc/wpasupplicant/README.modes.gz

[Bug 145481] elephant extra should be replaced with lion

2007-09-27 Thread Nanley Chery
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gutsy-wallpapers

We cannot use elephant skin as a background. There will inevitably be
people who will be grossed out by the textures/colors and find it
uncomfortable. This may cause them to stray away from Ubuntu completely.

The lion mane is a much better choice as it just fur and doesn't have
odd skin folds or coloration as the elephant skin does. Here are two
good candidates for secondary wallpapers:

[Bug 144765] Re: Xgl crashed with SIGSEGV

2007-09-27 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Thank you for reporting this bug. Can you tell me what graphics card
and driver you are using? Also, could you attach the output of the
glxinfo command (you can generate this by running glxinfo
glxinfo.log in a terminal)?

If you need to temporarily disable Xgl in order to do this, you can
create a file called disable in the ~/.config/xserver-xgl directory
(which you may need to create)

[Bug 99810] Re: mozilla-plugin-vlc: symlinks for Firefox are in the wrong place

2007-09-27 Thread wolfchri
The suggested fix works, I confirm this for 7.10 on AMD64.

The bug should be considered high profile as in Germany, the state TV
has expanded its online offerings to Open Source users, using VLC for
non-Windows-Users, responding to respective demands from Linux users.

Ubuntu however is the only OS/Linux distro where people can still NOT
access the online broadcasts and therefore is damaging Ubuntu
reputqation here in Germany badly. In short: This bug really sucks and
needs urgently to be fixed for Gutsy release. Otherwise, we risk Gutsy
being ripped apart in German computer magazine tests in Oktober/November
as it fails this test.
