[Bug 147199] Re: previous linux security update fixed my ipw2100, but last one broke it again
More information about freezing: there are 2 different types of messages in syslog: 1. kernel: [ 856.828000] ipw2100: Fatal interrupt. Scheduling firmware restart. 2. kernel: [ 8556.332000] NETDEV WATCHDOG: eth1: transmit timed out The first one is well known and I thought that it is inevitable. Second one sometimes follows the freezing without the first message and after the second message transmission is restored. I was happy with 2.6.20-16.31 because it fixed both problems, but 2.6.20-16.32 returned them back. -- previous linux security update fixed my ipw2100, but last one broke it again https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/147199 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 146990] Re: [Gusty] can't get my wired connection to work with Xubuntu
Thank you for testing Xubuntu Gutsy! What does the command ifconfig and dmesg say? I know it is a live cd and therefore it may be very difficult for you to put this information here. I just want to know if ifconfig shows at least a device called eth0. Look if it is there. If it is not, then look what the command dmesg says in a terminal. Look for messages like this: [ 39.057016] eth0: RealTek RTL8139 at 0xd4858000, 00:50:ba:b4:81:68, IRQ 10 [ 39.057023] eth0: Identified 8139 chip type 'RTL-8139C' This means my network adaptor is found. [Bug 147230] Workspace switching via touchpad works badly
Public bug reported: With desktop effects enabled I can switch to a different workspace by scrolling my mouse wheel when on the desktop - each click of the mouse wheel goes to a new workspace, in a continuous circle. When using my touchpad, touching the right hand side of it emulates a mouse wheel. The difference is that the touchpad's mouse wheel doesn't have clicks. This means that when I switch workspace, it is very difficult to go to exactly the one I want using the touchpad as it will often detect multiple clicks and I can end up back on the one I was on. One way to alleviate this might be to no switch workspaces in a circle, but to only switch up to the last one in one direction - to get back from that the user would have to scroll the other way. This would solve my problem was I only have two workspaces, but if a user had four workspaces it would still be difficult to get to numbers 2 and 3. [Bug 147233] unable to change monitor brightness
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager Running Gutsy/x86/Lenovo t60 Thinkpad. Any attempt to change monitor brightness fails. The fn-home/fn-end keystrokes do not work, nor does gnome-power-manager change it. In fact, gnome shows the brightness to be at 100%, while /proc/acpi/ibm/brightness is at 0. Altering the brightness file in terminal does not affect it--the file simply reverts back to 0. ** Affects: gnome-power-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- unable to change monitor brightness https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/147233 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
