[Bug 19749] Re: SATA HDD not recognized during Breezy Colony 4 install or Dapper Flight 3 or Edgy Eft or Feisty Fawn
Leann, I just finished downloading 7.10 and I'll try to do an install this weekend. I'm still running a little slow due to my medical problems, but I promise I WILL do it ASAP! Luckily my aforementioned homemade keyboard fix has worked on this laptop and after sitting idle for nearly a year I've been able to keep it busy again lately. I just need to do some shuffling to make room for a basic Ubuntu install - or at least an attempt. That should tell us whether or not the modules are being recognized in the right order or not. -- SATA HDD not recognized during Breezy Colony 4 install or Dapper Flight 3 or Edgy Eft or Feisty Fawn https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/19749 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 157640] [needs-packaging] dragbox
Public bug reported: http://www.student.lu.se/~cif04usv/wiki/dragbox.html Dragbox is a tool for connecting the commandline with the desktop environment. It summons a drag handle from nowhere when you are managing files or information in a shell, further empowering you in your workflow. Dragbox accepts both drags and drops once started, and can be made to output dragged-to items to the standard output. You can also pipe text to dragbox, or a list of files using xargs. [Bug 155497] Re: [Gutsy] Sound stopped working on laptop after hibernate
Hello, It looks like the source of my suspend/hibernation problems (which lead up to my sound not working) was that I did not designate my swap partition as such when I reinstalled Feisty in order to do the network upgrade to Gutsy. I have since reinstalled Feisty again, remembering to specify the swap partition, and did a network upgrade to Gutsy. Everything works beautifully for now. Thanks for producing a great OS! Some more details. First. The problem seems to arise actually from the interaction between KNetworkManager (front end) and the NetworkManager (back end). [Bug 157650] ATA port freezes randomly
Public bug reported: My system has random freezes, sometimes during boot, sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes after a few hours. Everytime there are ata port errors like ata1.00: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x1c0 action 0x2 frozen (see logs). I had this with Feisty, but even after a fresh Gutsy install the problem doesn't disappear. I tried three different motherboards, two different harddisks, on the current motherboard two different SATA-controllers. When the system freezes, I sometimes can continue after a minute or so. Sometimes I have to reboot using either the reset button or the alt- sysreq-SUB sequence. Sometimes after a reboot Grub is loading, and the gives a Read error. Usually after a fresh install the system runs fine for about two weeks (only running a few hours a day, then shut down). The frequency of freezes then increases up to a point where it becomes unuseable. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- ATA port freezes randomly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/157650 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 151168] Re: Memory leak in nvidia-glx-new's GL_EXT_texture_from_pixmap
As far as I can tell, you will see this bug on any nVidia card with the nvidia-glx-new drivers, but only once you've exhausted the onboard texture memory. So I need to open a *lot* of windows on my 512Mb card before it starts leaking, but it still does. With 64mb of memory, you'll hit the limit much faster, but now instead of seeing black windows, the texture memory for that window will get added to compiz.real's memory space, and won't be released. So, having enough more memory will greatly reduce the likelyhood that you trigger this bug, but cannot eliminate it entirely. -- Memory leak in nvidia-glx-new's GL_EXT_texture_from_pixmap https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/151168 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 157654] No Belarusian Latin locale generated
Public bug reported: There is a new l10n effort made in Belarusian l10n community - translation of GNOME and other packages into Belarusian Latin ([EMAIL PROTECTED] locale). Though even when Byelorussian language is chosed in Language Selector and appropriate packages with gettext files are installed, there is no [EMAIL PROTECTED] locale generated and that's why a user can't use this language variant for Ubuntu UI. After some investigation, I found that to use it a person should edit /var/lib/locales/supported.d/be to be like that: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ cat /var/lib/locales/supported.d/be be_BY.UTF-8 UTF-8 [EMAIL PROTECTED] UTF-8 [EMAIL PROTECTED] UTF-8 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ and then run sudo locale-gen to reflect the changes. This kind of changes should be done automatically after Byelorussian language is chosen in Language Selector. I have no time to debug these things and I don't use Linux as my main operating system (I just use it from time to time only to see that it is still so backwarded and full of bugs that it is not usable for people who just want to do their stuff) so I don't care at all about that bug. Why do you guys ask for bug reports if you don't care? That'll be my last bug report I make for an ubuntu distribution since nobody seems to care and just wants me to do the work to fix the bug. [Bug 114331] Re: xserver starts but display is corrupt
Peter, Sorry to say that the new driver hasn't solved the problem, however, there is a slight difference in what happens. Previously, once the splash screen progress bar reached the end, the display would go black, the round cursor with the spinning dots would appear, then after a few seconds the cursor would freeze. The display would then corrupt. Then after another second or so, the screen would change to black again then the corruption would re-appear. This time, everything happens the same with the exception that once the screen goes black after the initial corruption, it stays black. I've left the PC running to see if it continues to the login screen, but it never gets there (you don't hear the login drums). I've attached another log file for you which seems to have some errors listed. I hope this helps.
