[Bug 159682] Open solaris iscsi target causes panic in open-iscsi

2007-11-03 Thread Fuzzy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: open-iscsi

Hi,

There is a bug with open-iscsi prior to open-iscsi-2.0-865.15 where too
much data is being read by TCP socket. The bug has been fixed in the
latest version of open-iscsi and every attempt I have made to build my
own custom package has failed. The bug is documented here:
http://groups.google.com/group/open-
iscsi/browse_thread/thread/0c0ff41096d5afc9/50b7d839c25d0ce8#50b7d839c25d0ce8
on the open-iscsi mailing list. I will continue to try and build a
package to submit, but I am having loads of trouble trying to re-create
the kernel source tree for 2.6.22-14-xen in a manner that open-iscsi can
compile against.

Re: [Bug 150989] Re: Wrong resolution for HD widescreen in Gutsy withnvidia

2007-11-03 Thread Paul Cheney
I have both outputs. I can get correct screen resolution if I connect
my monitor to VGA, but only 640x480 when connected to DVI.
This happens on both a Dell and Gateway. Gutsy or nvidia plugin thinks
that VGA is screen one output, and DVI is for screen two.
I need to do research how Gutsy handles due screens.

[Bug 132349] Re: external usb disks no longer mount in gutsy

2007-11-03 Thread Suchawato
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 134712 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/134712

Hi.
I'm having similar problems.
After installing Gutsy,
My 5'th Gen iPod video will not mount at all.
And, I am having a problem with my LaCie external Hard Drive.
At first, I could not read or write to it as Gutsy annoyingly made it a Root
only permission by default. This was really irritating, but not unfixable.
Then, after I changed the permissions so that all users could
read/write/delete/change files, it seemed to work fine.
Then, the other day when I tried to copy my school assignment to the school
folder on my LaCie, it (Gutsy) would not let me. Access Denied; you don't have
permissions to write to this folder. When I used
Code:

gksudo nautilus

to try to re-change the permissions as Root, I got; The Owner Could Not Be
Changed; Couldn't change the owner of LaCie because it is on a read-only
disk.
There is no switch or button on the LaCie, that makes it read only.
It's a USB external drive. There would be no point in making it read only
It Isn't read only.
I don't care what Gutsy thinks.
I can access it fine on the Macs at school.
So at the moment, I am unable to use it on this computer.

[Bug 53387] Re: Manual WPA networks doesn't connect at boot

2007-11-03 Thread Saïvann Carignan
** Summary changed:

- Boot order problem
+ Manual WPA networks doesn't connect at boot

** Description changed:

- Everything seems to work correctly when I set up the network but when I
- reboot and log into gdm, my networking will not work until I run
- '/etc/init.d/networking restart'.
+ When configuring a wireless network to use WPA outside Gnome Network-
+ manager applet, the network will not reconnect after a reboot without a
+ /etc/init.d/networking restart

I moved over to nw-manager for the time being. I set up
/etc/network/interfaces with this type of configuration for ath0

  iface ath0 auto
  iface ath0 inet dhcp
  wpa-driver madwifi
  wpa-ssid homezone
  wpa-key-mgmt WPA-PSK
  wpa-psk quoted passphrase
  # wpa-psk 0001231203

I didn't have time to try out the wpa-conf method but I did try wpa-psk
in passphrase and hexidecimal mode with identical results.

The only thing I can think of is trying to use pre-up commands to start
  wpasupplicant before it does dhcp.
+
+ **Workaround : It has been found that renaming the file
+ /etc/udev/rules.d/85-ifupdown.rules so that udev won't read the rules
+ from that file actually solves the problem.

[Bug 138680] Re: Printer support broken (Feisty - Gutsy upgrade)

2007-11-03 Thread Adam Barbary
Am not sure if I have the exact same probelem, however I have lost all
network printers since the upgrade. After the print command is issued,
from any program, the print queue appears, the job is marked completed
but not printing. I beleive it is a cupsys issue as I have downgraded
the package on all machines and printing is now working again.

[Bug 122560] Re: no sound with 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller

2007-11-03 Thread Ethan Arnold
And now using Max's directions from Comment 68, I got my sound working
as well :-) thanks very much Max!

My Notebook is a Smartbook Sniper (www.smartbook.de) and I had the Ubuntu
7.10 Gutsy CD installed (Kernel 2.6.22-14-generic), had done no changes yet
(fresh install).
I hope the new Alsa drivers will soon find their way into the distribution, to
save many more people the headaches :-)

[Bug 159686] action 'ask me' (interactive) not available for suspend button

2007-11-03 Thread Cris
Public bug reported:

Hi,

when using the 'gnome-power-preferences' on 'gutsy' the option 'ask me'
does not seem to be available among the actions available for the
suspend button, although it is possible to configure the desired
behavior by setting the gconf key /apps/gnome-power-
manager/buttons/suspend to 'interactive'.

It would be nice to have this option again available as desktop
keyboards' power keys get sometimes mapped to the suspend button.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Public bug reported:

attaching debdiff.
also includes tweaks in the /debian folder

the size of 06_add_goom2k4.patch could be dropped by about 600KB if
ubuntu bug #152528 was fixed. so far i've managed to expose the library
so it can be built against, but the splitting isn't happening for me
(lack of skill). all i've done to get that far with it was to remove the
3 or so lines from the debian/rules which remove those files.

[Bug 153096] Re: Won't find my 2nd HD, Failed to set xfermode ATA errors

2007-11-03 Thread acacha
I confirm that bug. It seems related with this other bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-
source-2.6.20/+bug/112132

I follow the workaround from this page: http://fak3r.com/2007/06/22
/failed-to-set-xfermode-solved/

I take some notes in catalan at my wiki:
http://acacha.dyndns.org/mediawiki/index.php/Ubuntu_TroubleShooting#Failed_to_set_xfermode

[Bug 78380] Re: Fiesty Live CD crashes during Boot

2007-11-03 Thread tommytabib
Well i got it working!

I just installed a new asus lightscribe dvd burner and put my old dvd
drive as the slave, and now all works as it should.

Strange thing is that the cd drive that was causing this problem is
still plugged in and is working, i think its because its now as a slave
it just cooperates. Weird.
