[Bug 141161] Re: [regression] after recent upgrade to 6.7.192-4ubuntu1 dual-head support is broken
This bug was nominated for Gutsy but does currently not qualify for a 7.10 stable release update (SRU) and the nomination is therefore declined. According the the SRU policy, the fix should already be deployed and tested in the current development version before an update to the stable releases will be considered. With 7.10 now released, that policy applies to this bug. See: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates . The bug is not being closed as work will continue on fixing it for the next release, Hardy Heron (8.04). [Bug 112444] Re: ubiquity does not scan for software RAID (mdadm) devices like /dev/md0 during installation
This problem still exists in Gutsy Gibbon. It is, indeed, most frustrating. Even after I manually created and formatted the raid1 partition (ext3), ubiquity still refuses to recognize them. Instead, its partitioner misidentifies both of the mirrors as plain ext3 partitions. I had to apt-get the mdadm utility. Then I did this: mknod /dev/md0 b 9 0 modprobe raid1 mdadm -v -C /dev/md0 --level=raid1 --raid-devices=2 /dev/sda7 /dev/sdb7 mke2fs -j /dev/md0 It all worked fine. But it made no difference to ubiquity. The install link on the desktop (ubiquity) still refused to recognize the md0 device at the partitioning step. -Dave http://www.burtonsys.com/email/ -- ubiquity does not scan for software RAID (mdadm) devices like /dev/md0 during installation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/112444 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 136469] Re: toshiba p100 series dsdt acpi error no sound, works with acpi turned off.
The Hardy Heron kernel was recently uploaded for testing. We'd really appreciate it if you could try testing with this newer kernel and verify if this issue still exists. Unfortunately, the Hardy Heron Alpha1 LiveCD was released with the older 2.6.22 kernel. You'll have to manually install the newer Hardy Heron kernel in order to test. This should not be the case for Alpha2. However, here are the instructions to install (if you choose to do so): 1) edit the file /etc/apt/sources.list and add the following line: deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy main restricted 2) sudo apt-get update 3) sudo apt-get install linux-image-2.6.24-1-generic 4) reboot and select the new kernel from the grub menu After you've tested, please feel free to revert back - ie boot into the old kernel, sudo apt-get remove linux-image-2.6.24-1-generic, and remove the line from /etc/apt/sources.list . Please update this report with your results. Thanks in advance! I've opened a task against the new linux package (now simply called 'linux') and will close the 2.6.22 package as this issue is not an SRU candidate. See: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates . Setting to Incomplete as there is no debugging info for 2.6.24 yet. [Bug 174995] Re: xfdesktop or panels keep not starting, resurrection needed
** Description changed: NB: my real point is not to fix the death cause. It's resurrection, in the second paragraph. I (too vaguely) describe the events in case it could help. I installed ubuntu-desktop on top of Xubuntu. I started a few Gnome logins in test users' sessions, left active. Then, I tested Gnome login on my main account. Being satisfied, I logged this one out and back in to xfce. If I recall well, the xfce's blue desktop showed, maybe its icons too. Then suddenly, the desktop was painted in plain brown, no icons. (I had changed my Gnome wallpaper to plain brown but my post-Gnome-login is brown too) The panels were the xfce's ones. I right clicked some desktop context menu item to be just told that a gnome component was not active; then the right click became inactive. My point is that xfce kept logging in without desktop (sole brown wallpaper). A web search pointed me to executing Alt-F2 xfdesktop. This solved the problem forever (now logging correctly). My point is that a common user is unable to find and do that. - The desktop should obviously always start. + The desktop should obviously always start during login. If there's any reason it shouldn't, I think it would be at the expense of a, maybe timed, message asking the common user if the desktop has to be restored. Exactly the same problem occurred with permanently disappeared panels. A web search pointed me to an Alt-F2 xfce4-panel solution. Hoping this will help. [Bug 104790] Re: feisty opens a busybox on boot with RAID0+reiserfs
Hi, as I wrote in my comment dated 2007-07-09, since the kernel: Linux ubuntu 2.6.20-16-386 #2 Thu Jun 7 20:16:13 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux the problem is gone for me. Now I'm using Linux ubuntu 2.6.22-14-386 #1 Sun Oct 14 22:36:54 GMT 2007 i686 GNU/Linux and I still don't have any problem. Should this bug report be closed? Or the fix in the newer kernels was actually a side-effect of unrelated changes? In this case I fear the bug could reappear in future! Putting some comments in the initialization scripts about the danger of a race condition between md-building and root-mounting could be useful to avoid such possibility in future... -- feisty opens a busybox on boot with RAID0+reiserfs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/104790 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 136469] Re: toshiba p100 series dsdt acpi error no sound, works with acpi turned off.
Hi Would installing the Hardy kernel mess up my current Gutsy install? If I can do this relatively safely I don't mind giving it a go.. Cheers Rax - Original Message From: Henrik Nilsen Omma [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, 9 December, 2007 10:31:28 AM Subject: [Bug 136469] Re: toshiba p100 series dsdt acpi error no sound, works with acpi turned off.
