[Bug 184732] Re: youtube skips when playing a video, like theres a glitch somewhere

2008-02-02 Thread jmaeshawn
I can also confirm this is a bug, because I have the same problem as the
previous user. Every youtube video and any streaming video on different
websites (i.e. Stage6, myspace video) all skip.

I am using Firefox 2.0.0.11 and have the newest Flash plugin (Shockwave
Flash 9.0 r115, as you stated earlier.)

This problem did not occur until after the update to 2.0.0.11.

Here are some sample videos to test with:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=LJX0FzDLhXQ
http://youtube.com/watch?v=pPdFrW076R0

The first one is a fast-paced video, and the 2nd is a slower, softer
one. This is so you can see that this bug occurs no matter what type of
video it is.

Thank you very much, and I hope that you fix this bug as soon as you
can.

[Bug 174343] Re: Flash player 9.0 r115 crashes nspluginwrapper in Konqueror

2008-02-02 Thread Isma
Mmm.. maybe I was too excited about youtube working, and thought that
everything was right.
As I can see now, youtube (as well as youtube embeded videos) and many other
flash sites are working again for me. About www.libero.it, it behaves the same
in konqueror as in firefox.

However, I've found a place where youtube embedded video does render in
firefox, while in konqueror all I have is a gray area. I link directly to the
news page with the video:
http://www.20minutos.es/noticia/342357/0/maradona/mano/dios/

Maybe it has to do with the way the embed the video, and not with
nspluginviewer working wrong, because in the same web site, the have a totally
flash driven video section, which is working pretty well:
http://www.20minutos.tv/index.php?v=gimYnaYreR

[Bug 158166] Re: Samsung HM160JI sata hdd no devices detected

2008-02-02 Thread MastaG
The workaround works but if you would like to keep your efi partition
its best to use an updated distro.

The libata_piix driver shipped with the official Fedora 8 and Ubuntu
7.xx install disc is having troubles detecting the samsung drive when an
GPT/EFI setup is used. Other drives dont seem to have this problem.

Use the updated distros, they have the newer kernel drivers.
(Ubuntu) Hardy alpha-4 http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/hardy/alpha-4/
or
(Fedora 8) Unity Re-Spin F8 20071218
http://spins.fedoraunity.org/unity/fedora-unity-re-spin-f8-20071218

I tested them both, and confirmed working with this drive, using GPT MBR
(and EFI partition) and also tried using MS-DOS MBR (but that was
allready working as stated above).

I'm now running Leopard OSX 10.5.1 and Fedora 8 Unity Re-Spin 20071218
using a GPT setup (meaning I still have the EFI partition, followed by
the HFS partition, ext3 /boot partition and LVM).

Hi Scott,

According to

[Bug 188334] [NEW] installation broken when /tmp has insufficient permissions

2008-02-02 Thread hehol
Public bug reported:

I just tried to install mysql-server-5.0 on a Ubuntu 7.10 server which
accidentally had wrong permissions on the /tmp directory (755, owned by
root:root). At first sight, the installations succeeds, but it ends up
with only debian-sys-maint in the user table. So, no changes to the
database are possible.

I suppose the problem is in the postinst script, which uses mktemp to
create several temporary SQL scripts in /tmp. The postinst script does
not verify if the temporary files have been created successfully. There
isn't even a warning indicating that something went wrong while
bootstrapping MySQL.

[Bug 188331] Re: OOo Calc, locale fr_FR, numpad '.' not replaced with ', ' when locale decimal separator is ', '

2008-02-02 Thread Olivier Mengué
The problem is related to the keymap:

$ xmodmap -pke | grep 'keycode *91'
keycode 91 = KP_Delete period comma U202F comma U202F

Here is the workaround:
$ xmodmap -e 'keycode 91 = KP_Delete KP_Decimal KP_Separator U202F comma U202F'

Here is my xorg.conf:

Section InputDevice
Identifier Generic Keyboard
Driver kbd
Option CoreKeyboard
Option XkbRules xorg
Option XkbModel pc105
Option XkbLayout fr
Option XkbVariantoss
EndSection

I will report a separate bug for the xserver-xorg-input-kbd package.

[Bug 188342] [NEW] keymap fr: numpad '.' mapped to period instead of KP_Decimal

2008-02-02 Thread Olivier Mengué
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-kbd

In Ubuntu 7.10, xserver-xorg-input-kbd_1.2.0-1+1.2.1ubuntu1 with the
following Xorg.conf settings:

Section InputDevice
Identifier Generic Keyboard
Driver kbd
Option CoreKeyboard
Option XkbRules xorg
Option XkbModel pc105
Option XkbLayout fr
Option XkbVariantoss
EndSection

Got:
$ xmodmap -pke | grep 'keycode *91'
keycode 91 = KP_Delete period comma U202F comma U202F

Expected:
$ xmodmap -pke | grep 'keycode *91'
keycode 91 = KP_Delete KP_Decimal comma U202F comma U202F

This issue is a MAJOR usability issue in OpenOffice.org Calc, as in the current
state Calc is unusable to enter decimal numbers quickly.
This is a major blocker for migration of Windows/Excel users to
Ubuntu/OpenOffice.org. See bug #188331.

Did you completely uninstall flashplugin-nonfree and remove the copy in

If so, could you please attach a copy of your dpkg.log?

[Bug 157497] Re: New windows stack up in top left corner

I applied a patch based on

even though I didn't review the code if it works correctly, just made it

One of the only things my mum uses the computer for is word processing,
and the only reason she wants to go back to Windows when we get a new

[Bug 188350] [NEW] atop initscript should use --oknodo

2008-02-02 Thread Forest Bond
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: atop

/etc/init.d/atop uses start-stop-daemon to launch atop. It would be
nice if it used --oknodo.

For me, an unrelated issue with logrotate prevented the postinstall
script from exiting correctly. After this, attempts to finish
configuring atop would result in the postinstall script trying to run
/etc/init.d/atop start again, which would fail since atop was already
running.

Using Ubuntu 7.10 on ppc, atop version 1.20-2.

Thanks,
Forest

[Bug 187884] Re: Failure to resume from suspend on Lenovo 3000 N100

2008-02-02 Thread Robert Schumann
As suggested in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelSuspend, I have
used the echo 1 /sys/power/pm_trace trick before suspending to try
to record debugging info. The output of dmesg after suspending,
attempting to resume, hard rebooting and then booting up in recovery
mode to the command line (less than 3 minutes later) is attached.

I will update the kernel when Alpha 4 comes out and let you know whether
the problem is resolved.

[Bug 182778] Re: Wrong resolution on Hardy Alpha 3

2008-02-02 Thread Jarek
I found workaround for this, just modify Screen section in xorg.conf
It should look similar to this:

Section Screen
Identifier Default Screen
Monitor Configured Monitor
DefaultDepth24
SubSection Display
Depth 24
Modes 1280x800
EndSubSection
EndSection

If acceleration for your card (like my PN800) is broken, put this line into
Device section
Option NoAcceltrue

Desktop is very slow, but not messy and works.

[Bug 137645] Re: On Kubuntu Gutsy 64bit several packages shows not the right language despite of installed language-packs whereas on 32bit the same packages are ok

2008-02-02 Thread Martin Böhm
Thanks for reporting this bug. I have tested it on my Kubuntu Hardy
(alpha) amd64 machine. Both LyX and GIMP display in my native language.
In my opinion it may be a bug in the language-packs of those
applications. Please consider testing it on a Kubuntu Gutsy system with
a different language set or on a Kubuntu Hardy system. Thank you!

[Bug 138583] Re: [Gutsy] Kernel Oops after calling synce-serial-start

2008-02-02 Thread jcd
while patch
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/attachment.cgi?id=12918action=view is
applied to the latest 2.6.24 ubuntu kernel (Hardy), the other patch
(http://synce.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/synce/trunk/patches/linux-2.6.22
-rndis_host-wm5.patch) is still not integrated making it impossible to
connect my device using RNDIS.

We should also make sure this patch is available in Hardy (as well as
Gusty).

[Bug 123265] Re: lanmap svg output does not find the shapefiles

2008-02-02 Thread Christoph Langner
I can confirm this, staring lanmap with svg as output shows a lot of
warnings

$ sudo lanmap -i eth0 -r 30 -T svg -o /tmp/
Warning: /usr/share/lanmap//graph/img/cloud.svg was not found as a file or as
a shape library member

as a shape library member
Warning: No or improper shapefile=/usr/share/lanmap//graph/img/bridge.svg for

When you look at the .svg file lanmap creates, all the pictures are
missing. Using lanmap out of the gutsy repos here.

$dpkg -l lanmap
