Re: [Bug 236830] Re: cifs does not support kerberos authentication
I suspect that you're seeing a periodic TGT refresh from Likewise; pam_krb5 doesn't provide infrastructure to refresh tickets automatically for you, but winbind/likewise do. I figured as much. I knew Heimdal provided a similar feature, but I had too little to do with recent versions of Winbind and Likewise in general to have noticed this before. Nice though. I haven't gotten krb5i working yet here either. I see Jocelyn *is* able to use krb5i. I haven't been able to downloaded the rebuilt packages from Intrepid Jocelyn provided. You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: libnss-ldapd Since Hardy's release, when doing e kerberos connexion, a refusal to open a gdm session may occur. Error message in gdm is : The system administrator had temporarily disabled connexion to this system. In auth.log: nscd: nss_ldap: server is unavailable The problem occurs in the account phase, when the user account information is beng pulled. The kerberos authentication is successful but the user is not know by the system. when this occurs, from another session we can do a: # getent passwd user_having_issue and we do not get a reply. After a certain time lapse, without any change to the setup, the user becomes known again. Note: during this period, other users are tested and work succesfully, which shows that the ldap server does function properly. To understand the issue better, a network trace was done and it can be seen that on the TCP connexion use by the request 1- earlier: the LDAP server sent a end tcp session packet (FIN) 2- nssldap sends back an ACK 3- nssldap continues on using this connexion that he acknoledged closing To try to go around the issue, it was tried to configure nsslap to not use persistent connexion (ldap.conf : nss_connect_policy oneshot), but once this is applied and the client rebooted, then gdm crashes consistently at each authentication try (clearly identified in syslog).
If such the program that does it is on another desktop, the only way to see that desktop is by using keybord shortcuts (plus it is not obvious that you have to check the other desktop). When gedit appears type 'a' so the document becomes unsaved. 5. Press ctrl-alt-left to switch to original desktop. 6. Go to System - Log Out user... 7. Click on Log Out. Expected result: - Desktop to be switched to desktop containg dialog stopping the logout. gnome-panels to remain responsive until the last possible minute. + Desktop to be switched to desktop containing dialog stopping the logout. gnome-panels to remain responsive until the last possible minute. Actual results: Desktop remains on desktop not showing the logout stopping dialog. gnome-panel applets become unresponsive (Window List and Workspace Switcher no longer respond to mouse input). No indication of which desktop needs attention, only way to see the dialog is to use ctrl-alt-right . Mildly related to Bug #4406 . - Edit: - Bringing another window in front of gedit is enough to cause trouble. - gedit flashes in the taskbar, but you can't bring it to the front because the window list is frozen. - In fact, *all* gnome panels are frozen. + Additional information: + A variant of this also occurs when the gedit window is underneath another window and is completely covered or gedit is minimised. gedit flashes in the taskbar (so it is obvious that something needs to be done), but you can't bring it to the front because the window list is frozen (it is not obvious how to provide the required attention). In such cases the user may be forced to alt-tab to gedit in order to bring it to the front. -- Not obvious when logout is stalled by window on another virtual desktop / window beneath front-most one / window is minimised https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/33673 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 44335] Re: IMAP/POP3+SSL/TLS are disabled
If someone with expertise in this sector could check the code it would be fine I guess. It wouldn't be more insecure than now but I am not sure about the license/name thing.
