[Bug 252174] Re: gvfsd-trash crashed with SIGSEGV in g_main_context_dispatch()

2008-08-25 Thread Steffen Röcker
@Vadim: Move /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd-trash to /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd-trash-
debug and save it to /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd-trash. Don't forget to chmod +x
/usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd-trash.

I did everything Ken described and got a valgrind.log with a SIGSEGV,
hope this one helps.

[Bug 241440] Re: bacula catalog fails due to missing script

2008-08-25 Thread krbvroc1
I recently updated my system from the 2.2.8 to the 2.4.2 release (Centos
RPM). On my system I noticed that the files you are referring to moved
from /etc/bacula to /usr/lib64/bacula. However, my bacula-dir.conf,
bacula-fd.conf and bacula-sd.conf all contained references to the old
/etc/bacula path.

My guess is that putting executable scripts in /etc is not the proper
filesystem standard so they were moved. Maybe this is your problem too?

[Bug 198871] Re: Jmicron AHCI controller probs...

2008-08-25 Thread Sam Grönblom
Ok, today I went to my local computer shop. Bought a new SATA DVD-RW for
about 25 e, inserted into my PC. Disabled the Jmicron controller in the
BIOS... and everything works beautifully. Now I'm running Ubuntu and
while I feel very relieved I also feel really annoyed that it took me a
whole year to just realise that it was fixable by just getting a new
cheap drive... Well I probably won't be able to use any PATA devices on
this PC, but for now I'm happy with this.

[Bug 123868] Re: f-spot does not start

2008-08-25 Thread Jeroen Doggen
I have exactly the same error. I had it several months ago, and after a
reinstall, it still remains.
There are no error messages on the cli.

When I remove the complete '/$HOME/.gnome2/f-spot' folder, I get one (probably
unrelated) error:
'WARNING: The add-in 'FSpot.__DefaultExporters,1.6' is trying to extend
'/FSpot/Menus/Exports', but there isn't any compatible add-in defining this
extension point'
When I close f-spot, the folder ' /$HOME/.gnome2/f-spot' is recreated.

[Bug 60901] Re: Slow startup - Fetching summary information for new messages

2008-08-25 Thread drieteenmeeuw
My evolution wouldn't start up either today (after booting up my pc),
staying busy = being unresponsive for a long time without using much cpu
or memory. Even killall evolution and starting evolution didn't work. I
did ps aux | grep evolution and killed all additional processes which
had to do with evolution (I had thought killall would do that). Then
evolution started without a problem.

that is a letter L (just lowercase) not a number 1. copy and paste that
code directly from here (that way you won't error in re-typing it.
(highlight it then cntrl+c [that copies it] then in the terminal right
click the line where you type and click on paste)

[Bug 123868] Re: f-spot does not start

2008-08-25 Thread Rainer
In my case, the bug was not in f-spot - it was related to glx and the
PROPRIETARY graphic card driver. When I connected a second monitor to the
notebook with an ati graphic card, glx did not start - even the fgl_glxgears
did not work. When I disconnected the second monitor, glx was working and
f-spot as well (after restarting X). When using the non-proprietary card
driver, it worked with both monitors, but I could not get the setup working
which I needed (two separate X-Servers).
So the bug is caused by the PROPRIETARY ATI graphic card driver.

[Bug 261148] [NEW] oowriter doesn't behave like ooffice -writer

2008-08-25 Thread Internux
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Hello,

I just discover a nice thing with OOo :
trying to get ride of gvfs problem, I tried to launch it in several ways :

* through terminal (urxvt, hardy version) : oowriter doc.odt and ooffice
-writer doc.odt
* through launcher : oowriter and ooffice -writer

I created a new document, saved it on a samba share. so far, so good. Then I
exported it to PDF, in the same smb directory. So far, so good, no error [both
with oowriter and ooffice -writer]
Then, close OOo, reopen it, open the same file, edit it, save... ok, no
problem. Export it to pdf, same place and name as the previous export. HERE we
have a problem :
1- with oowriter : no error BUT it doesn't ask if we really want to override
the file
2- with ooffice : ask if we want to override the file, BUT crashes with some
I/O error

Is it normal? I thought oowriter was a link to ooffice -writer [or to
soffice.bin maybe], and thus should behave the same...

I don't know for now if it's only a problem on ubuntu. I'll try on
another linux distro this evening.

- network connection should be configured

Actual behaviour:
- config window closes, no further GUI feedback appears
- network connection is not configured
- 5 seconds after the config window closes, the following message appears in

[Bug 261151] [NEW] System Settings - Network Settings doesn't save ESSID or key

2008-08-25 Thread Ed
Public bug reported:

When I go to system settings, and click on Network Settings, I get a GUI
to configure my network settings.

My wireless card shows up there, but when I set it's ESSID and WEP key
through the GUI, the network connection doesn't work.

When I configure them from the command line with iwconfig, everything
works.

What's up with this GUI? Is it broken?

[Bug 261093] Re: clamav-base installation complains about missing Debian-exim userid

2008-08-25 Thread Herbert Thielen
clamav-base.postinst executes newaliases if available. As exim was
unpacked already at this time, newaliases was found and executed. But
exim was not yet configured, therefore user Debian-exim wasn't yet in
/etc/passwd, and that's what newaliases complains about.

I'm not sure which packet could handle this correctly. Despite of the
error message exim: failed to find uid ..., there's probably no harm
here - maybe it could be a valid solution to just redirect newaliases'
error message to /dev/null in clamav-base.postinst?

[Bug 210095] Re: NM doesn't pass hostname to DHCP server

2008-08-25 Thread zedic
Okay, I was switching back and forth between Fedora 10 Alpha and Ubuntu
Intrepid Ibex Alpha. I'm in Ubuntu now, and it's not working, so I
guess that was in Fedora. In Fedora I believe I ran system-config-
network and setup eth0. I believe in system-config-network there is an
Advanced button where you can specify a specific DHCP host name for each
profile. I'm trying to duplicate this in Ubuntu using gnome-network-
admin but it doesn't seem to have this setting. I believe the network
profiles in debian/ubuntu are kept in /etc/network/interfaces, but i'm
not sure what to setup there.

I'm going to boot back into fedora and look at where system-config-
network put that dhcp hostname setting.

[Bug 56785] Re: ACPI: No support for device type: thermal

2008-08-25 Thread Lex Ross
I have the same problem on my desktop with Hardy running kernel
2.6.24-19-generic and acpid version 1.0.4-5ubuntu9. My motherboard is
MSI K7T Turbo-R Limited Edition with 1.2GHz AMD Athlon CPU.
(Motherboard: MS-6330, Award BIOS v.3.6). Hardy does not control fan
speed either. However, lm-sensors can read BIOS information just fine:

$sensors
via686a-isa-6000
Adapter: ISA adapter
CPU core:+1.83 V (min = +0.06 V, max = +3.10 V)
+2.5V: +0.36 V (min = +0.06 V, max = +3.10 V)
I/O: +3.42 V (min = +3.12 V, max = +3.45 V)
+5V: +5.03 V (min = +4.73 V, max = +5.20 V)
+12V: +12.85 V (min = +11.35 V, max = +12.48 V)
CPU Fan:5921 RPM (min =0 RPM, div = 2)
P/S Fan: 0 RPM (min =0 RPM, div = 8)
SYS Temp:+55.5°C (high = +146.2°C, hyst = -70.9°C)
CPU Temp:+42.4°C (high = +146.2°C, hyst = -70.9°C)
SBr Temp:+24.2°C (high = -70.9°C, hyst = -70.9°C)

The problem of Ubuntu not controlling the fan speed was there in Gutsy
and now exists in Hardy.

[Bug 259287] Re: transmission resumes downloading into the Desktop, not to the specified places

2008-08-25 Thread Hew McLachlan
I can confirm the issue. I have a selection of torrents that just
automatically start seeding which I open Transmission. I have done this
process at least 5 times with these torrents and it has worked fine.
Today one of these torrents said it was at 0%, and started downloading
to the desktop instead.

This happened with 1.32. I'll upgrade to 1.33 and report back if I
experience the problem again.

[Bug 261166] [NEW] nautilus-sendto is build without Gajim support

2008-08-25 Thread Florian Zeitz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus-sendto

nautilus-sendto should build-depend on Gajim like it does in Debian.
This is because the configure script checks whether to build the gajim plugin
based on the existence of /usr/share/pixmaps/gajim.png.
I noticed Gajim was removed from the description some time ago, but IMHO it
would still be better to support it.
Also it's still mentioned in README.Debian and python-dbus is still recommended
(which is completely useless without the gajim plugin AFAIK)

[Bug 210095] Re: NM doesn't pass hostname to DHCP server

2008-08-25 Thread zedic
Okay in Fedora it looks like this configuration was setup in a user
profile. I found an awesome article on Fedora Network Configuration
that tells where all the different networking scripts are kept.
http://openskill.info/infobox.php?ID=247 So the workaround for Fedora
is to use a network profile in system-config-network.

I'm trying to find something similar for Ubuntu. I'm not sure where
NetworkManager is getting the information for it's DHCP script or if
it's possible to customize the DHCP script at all using NetworkManager.
It would be nice if there were an advanced section to customize how
dhclient is invoked. At lest in system-config-network you can specify
the DHCP host name.

[Bug 261168] [NEW] totem reports wrong movie dimensions, in properties, when playing DVD

2008-08-25 Thread marco.pallotta
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

If I play my DVD (recorded with a webcam that stores movies into mini-DVDs)
with totem the movie is showed correctly, that is with the correct aspect ratio
that in my case should be equal to 1024x576 (16:9 proportion), but the
properties window shows a wrong movie dimension: 720x576 (4:3). I think it's
the size of vob file
If I play the same dvd with, for example, mplayer I see the following output
(from console)

-
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ mplayer dvd://

As you can see mplayer shows that it prescales to correct movie aspect
