Hi Colin, You mentioned on the upstream bug that you were able to work around the problem by forcing the XRRGetCrtcTransform to believe it was talking to a pre-1.3 server. [Bug 307306] Re: upgrade to 2:1.2.99.2-0ubuntu1 makes session utterly slow
Regarding the real fix -- in browsing through the xserver git tree, there's a handful of 1.3-related changes in the randr code which post- date the version of xserver currently in jaunty. Browsing through the changes, none jumped out at me as obvious causes for this problem, but perhaps a newer xserver would have whatever bits that libxrandr is now expecting. I had keith over this last Sunday and he said he was going to put out the 1.6 final probably within the next week or two, so perhaps we should plan to upgrade to that version ASAP once it's out, and re-test this bug. Meanwhile, if disabling use of the Transformations stuff with the above patch solves the issue, we could just use that for the time being. -- upgrade to 2:1.2.99.2-0ubuntu1 makes session utterly slow https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/307306 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 257639] Re: E: The package cache file is corrupted E: _cache-open() failed, please report.
Hello Frans, I was speaking about Linux kernel, that is what is loaded in high memory when booting up. When one makes an update, if there is a new release of it and if you have checked the option pre-release update in the sources manager, even for a not very important upgrade you are proposed a partial upgrading. Since I met the bug only after my last kernel upgrade I supposed it could be bound with that. The fact is that the bug mainly happens for me when I manually uninstall an application after testing it or using synaptic or when the sources manager updates before closing. greetings Jehanx -- E: The package cache file is corrupted E: _cache-open() failed, please report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/257639 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The update-manager also seems to want to do so, if I start them, but if I click ok, it finaly decides to not to do any thing. sudo apt-get upgrade means, that there is no need to upgrade nothing. [Bug 244480] Re: support AES-XTS mode
Nevermind, I figured out how to create an LUKS+LVM encrypted Ubuntu install using the https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EncryptedFilesystemLVMHowto instructions. The last step must be slightly modified, and a few more steps are necessary to create the LVM. Instead of cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/sda5 sda5_crypt Do cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/sda5 pvcrypt Then: pvcreate /dev/mapper/pvcrypt vgcreate vg /dev/mapper/pvcrypt lvcreate -n lvname -L size vg ex. lvcreate -n home -L 35G vg This will create a logical volume named home with a size of 35 GB. You need to create a new logical volume (lvname) for each partition and set the size you want. I created three - root, home, and swap. My setup looks like this: lvdisplay -C home vg -wi-ao 35,00G root vg -wi-ao 20,00G swap vg -wi-ao 2,00G Once you've done that, Ctrl-alt-F1 to return to the setup screen. Choose Finish. You'll get an error stating that sda5_crypt couldn't be found. Select yes to return to the setup screen. Now you'll see the LVM volumes you created. Assign mount points to each volume and continue the install as normal. [Bug 211026] Re: Ubuntu 8.04 Freeze when downloading from bittorent
I don't know if this is related, but I've been running Intrepid for a while (the entire life of my machine) and I never had a problem with transmission until recently, when my friend decided to update via the package manager. Ever since then if I run transmission, after a random amount of time (but it happens every time) my computer freezes up, and I have to go to shell and kill transmission to make the computer unfreeze. However, sometimes it will freeze up for a bit, and then the computer will run, but slower than my old 386... any Ideas? [Bug 312674] [NEW] Please upgrade to gnu tar 1.21
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: tar A few days ago, gnu tar was upgraded to version 1.21. It could be great to have it for jaunty, because it adds support for both compressing and decompressing lzma archives. http://www.gnu.org/software/tar/#TOCreleases * New short option -J, an alias for --lzma * New option --lzop * New option --no-auto-compress, Cancels the effect of previous --auto-compress (-a) option * New option --no-null Cancels the effect of previous --null option. * Compressed format recognition If tar is unable to determine archive compression format, it falls back to using archive suffix to determine it. * VCS support Using --exclude-vcs handles also files used internally by Bazaar, Mercurial and Darcs. * Transformation scope flags Name transformation expressions understand additional flags that control type of archive members affected by them. The flags are: r Apply transformation to regular archive members. s Apply transformation to symbolic link targets. h Apply transformation to hard link targets. The corresponding upper-case letters negate the meaning, so that H means do not apply transformation to hard link targets. The scope flags are listed in the third part of a s expression, e.g.: $ tar --transform 's|^|/usr/local/|S' The default is rsh, which means that transformations are applied to both regular archive members and to the targets of symbolic and hard links. If several transform expressions are used, the default flags can be changed using flags= statement placed before the expressions, e.g.: $ tar --transform 'flags=S;s|^|/usr/local/|' * Bugfixes: 1. The --null option disabled handling of tar options in list files. This is fixed. 2. Fixed record size autodetection. If detected record size differs from the expected value (either default, or set on the command line), tar prints a warning if verbosity level is set to 1 or greater, i.e. if either -t or -v option is given. ** Affects: tar (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Please upgrade to gnu tar 1.21 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312674 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 202089 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/202089 I am not sure that it is the same. [Bug 202089] Re: Pulseaudio is blocking normal sound after resume
I, too have been experiencing this bug with Ubuntu Intrepid. Jsteinhart's fix appears to partially fix the problem. Before installing the fix, when I attempted to play a flash video after a suspend cycle it would play for a few seconds then stop, with no sound. When I switched over to a console and back, the video would then resume and sounds would play as normal. Now that I have installed the fix, flash videos don't stop after a few seconds. They continue to play, but I still don't get any sound from them (or anything else). When I switch back from a console, the video will pause in the middle of playback while all of the audio that i missed plays, then it will resume from where I left off. In any event, I still don't get any other sounds (with or without the fix) until I switch to and from a console. If there's any more useful information I can give you, let me know. -- Pulseaudio is blocking normal sound after resume https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/202089 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I confirm. Same packages version. I also get errors that in English would sound like 'unable to detect certificate type', when trying to import certificates from a file.
