[Bug 246888] Re: firefox 3 on ubuntu hardy : downloading is impossible
Hi, I did not meet this bug anymore for a while now (with version 2 or 3). I think it can be considered as fixed. Now, I'm not 100% sure it was linked with firefox. I'm using a netgear DG834G modem/router. I did a firmware downgrade since I heard that the latest release (V3.01.32) had a bug in the routing layer. So I downgraded to the unofficial V3.01.31 release. I have the feeling, but It's not a certainty, that since then the bug disappeared. [Bug 310575] Re: A3 pdf file is cropped and printed on A4 paper
1. Version 1.2 supported this, we have always been using this command line printing for these print jobs, it used to work as long as we had debian sarge with a self built vanilla v1.2 on the print server. It makes sense to support paper picking. 2. pdftops filter works partly: paper is picked properly for single print jobs with only one paper format, but a print file with a combination of A4 and A3 is complately printed to A4 paper with scale down. This is at least much better than cropping. Great! Thanks! For my need here right now that functionality would be sufficient, but wouldn't it be good if combined formats are also printed correctly? 3. mentioned restrictions: Does that mean that if i print from an application i cannot choose the paper? That would also mean if i print an A3 document on a printer that is set to A4 as standard, i don't have to pick the paper and it is printed correctly? Our printers here would anyway reject a letter sized print job unless the printer is set to make it fit on a A4 paper, which is what i have set on all printers here. ** Attachment added: pdf with both A3+A4 combined http://launchpadlibrarian.net/21465142/combined.pdf -- A3 pdf file is cropped and printed on A4 paper https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/310575 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 318818] Re: Intrepid fails LSB 3.2 tests on foomatic-filters
Steve Langasek [2009-01-20 6:50 -]: This does not fit the SRU process as described at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates. Micro-release exceptions for SRUs must be approved by the TB, based on the presence of an upstream QA process that provides a reasonable guarantee that the new release will be regression-free relative to what we released with. Please note that this is not a general request to put in new microreleases. The complete diff was provided, and we do not plan to put in further upstream updates. This is just a bunch (some 10) individual commits, and I don't particularly care whether they are called '4.0 final' or 'merge fixes from upstream'. Which of these changes do you believe meet the SRU process's requirement to only fix high-impact bugs? I will say that I don't think LSB test failures are themselves an SRU justification. That was my concern as well. The other fixes are regressions from hardy, and thus acceptable in an SRU. [Bug 238835] Re: persistent failure with DVD mounting, reading, writing
This is an update to my previous comment. I downloaded compiz-ccsm (to manage the effects of compiz), enabled Expo plugin (under compiz), and this has, to my complete surprise, fixed my problem. Now DVDs autmount and play without any problems. I have an GeForce Fx5200 video card. Originally I had used the proprietary Nvidia driver for my video card when prompted by the system because I wanted to take advantage of the eye candy compiz has to offer. The default compiz effects for compiz under ubuntu 8.10 include Desktop Wall, but my DVD won't mount under this plugin. It wasn't until I downloaded the the compiz-ccsm and enabled the Expo plugin that DVD automouting started to work. Very strange, but I've had consistent results, so to summarize my situation: automounting DVDs doesn't work if compiz is disabled, but works if compiz is enabled and Expo plugin is used. -- persistent failure with DVD mounting, reading, writing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/238835 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 318923] Re: Far too many bash scripts are sensitive to GREP_OPTIONS
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help to improve Ubuntu. I definitely don't think that the update-grub script should be changed to handle non-standard GREP_OPTIONS values set; use of grep in scripts is common practice and setting such options will break many of those scripts, including many scripts which don't originate with Ubuntu. So as a 'grub' bug, this is invalid because there is no change that should be made here. As for trying to fix this in bash: while update-grub is a bash script, the vast majority of shell scripts on Ubuntu invoke /bin/sh, which is dash rather than bash. So fixes that depend on bash-specific variables will be an incomplete solution. It may be appropriate to implement a general fix for this in the base- files package. ** Changed in: base-files (Ubuntu) Sourcepackagename: grub = base-files Importance: Undecided = Wishlist -- Far too many bash scripts are sensitive to GREP_OPTIONS https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/318923 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
