I have .ssh key files that I generated years ago. I copied them to
~/.ssh on my ubuntu system. Most of the time when I use ssh to run a
command on another system it works fine. Once in 50 times ssh hangs
locally.
This is not a network problem ... same issue happens with localhost.
E.g. if I run:
$ while :
do ssh localhost date
done
It will print the date a few dozen times, then the loop hangs (^C
interrupts it).
I tried using strace to see what was happening. The ssh process was hung
reading from a socket.
Looking back through the strace, the socket was connected to some local keyring
thing.

I can't post easy repro instructions because getting an x509 infrastructure working isn't easy :) I don't and didn't have time to set up a fresh VM and try to reproduce from scratch because i've never used one of those certificate wizards. Surely if you are going to package a version of a program that is unstable source-wise, the package should be updated regularly to reflect this? Strange From what I can see my Intrepid system has 3.0.2-1ubuntu1.1 as its current Nagios3 version. That version depends on libperl5.10 (= 5.10.0) and installs just fine. My description appears to be wrong in including the other packages in the bug. However this time it managed to purge some of the latest linux- backports packages after still giving errors on missing files. After four or so unsuccessful purges, a maximum number of failures were reported to apport apparently and the rest continued without complete failure, being removed from the residual config list in Synaptic.
