[Bug 365390] Re: postfix: invalid value for smtpd_tls_mandatory_ciphers in main.cf
@Mathias: That's fine. I was just following the example set by some other parameters in that same file, very close to the line being discussed, such as set_postfix_option smtpd_tls_mandatory_protocols = SSLv3, TLSv1 and also set_postfix_option tls_random_source = dev:/dev/urandom which seem to me to be setting things to the same value as the default. I therefore thought there must be a reason for doing it this way, and so I carefully followed the example set by the creators of this script :) I think it would be good to be consistent about this, and *only* set things which are non-default, unless there really is a valid reason for doing otherwise? Attached is a new debdiff that just removes the one line for smtpd_tls_mandatory_ciphers. If you feel we should also remove the others that set things the same as the default, let me know :) BTW, I looked at doing this as a bzr branch, but was puzzled by the branch name being ubuntu-intrepid, so I just did a debdiff instead, rather than risk a mistake of using the wrong bzr branch! [Bug 283811] Re: cups says can't promp for authorization when printing to my samba printer
By the way: What means Changed in gtk: status: Unknown → Fix Released ?? As I understand it, it means that Gnome have now included a patch in their development version to be able to ask a username and password. So Gnome will (the day your version of Ubuntu will include this new patch) ask a username and password when AuthInfoRequired username, password will be in /etc/cups/printers.conf. Since that bug suggest that it does not really need a password (since it is able to print without giving one), I doubt it will help much. I note that GNOME have used the following CUPS documentation to write their patch : http://www.cups.org/doc-1.4/api-cups.html#PASSWORDS_AND_AUTHENTICATION -- cups says can't promp for authorization when printing to my samba printer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/283811 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 288418] Re: GIMP-GAP has no encoder support
I believe I have discovered why this is. I decided to compile gimp-gap-2.4.0 from the source tarball at gimp.org. Using all dev packages from the repository (9.10) for gimp and other dependencies, the build failed in file ./gap/gap_dbbrowser_utils.c line 160. Apparently (according to the comments) this function is a copy of one including in the gimp source header files. gcc fails because it doesn't know which version of the function to use and instead of using the local copy - it returns the error - function already defined in _SOME_GIMP_HEADER_H and gives the file name. Why this function is copied from the gimp libs makes no sense to me, but removing the local copy of the function in gap_dbbrowser_utils.c (or commenting out) will result in a successful build. My guess is that the package maintainer either mis-interpreted the error or has a policy of not modifying code and just disabled the offending module in the configure options. This disabled the ffmpeg video encoder support. -- GIMP-GAP has no encoder support https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/288418 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 350531] Re: Jaunty does not boot from USB on SB600/RS690
LiveCD does not boot since the only CD drive the T5730 has is a USB drive - there are no internal IDE connectors. However the text mode installer kernel from Ubuntu 9.04 works fine and detects all the drives - for example, in rescue mode. I got Ununtu 9.04 installed on the built-in ATA flash. [Bug 333462] Re: nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in strlen()
I am the Nautilus-Open-Terminal maintainer. It looks like the patch proposed in bug 309529 comment 18 introduces custom URI parsing, instead of reusing the GnomeVFS functions, probably for completely migrating away from GnomeVFS. We should instead wait until the string parsing landed in glib before migrating wway. I understand that the lack of a release for the last few months created an unfortunate situation, sorry for that. I just released Nautilus-Open-Terminal 0.10. However, regarding the patches: Guys, there is a reason why complex string parsing should be done by libraries instead of hand-crafting it. Judging from the diff [1], the parsing does not look robust. One possibility would be to migrate back to GnomeVFS as in Nautilus-Open- Terminal [2], but I don't know how feasible this is for a stable release. I am attaching a unit test for the string parsing function used by Ubuntu, to allow further debugging. [Bug 174832] Re: ubuntu gnome-terminal - wrong key mapping in bash with a french keyboard
*SOLVED* I had a similar problem with a brand new install of Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty) with a French keyboard. At the first boot, the keyboard mapping was US. I simply used the gnome- keyboard-properties application to add a French layout and make it the default. At this point, I had two keyboard layouts defined in this app, the US (not used) and the French (default). However, I observed that in gnome-terminal and some other gtk apps; the emacs line editing command was still obeying the US layout (e.g., to send the cursor to the beginning of the line, Ctrl-A didn't work, I had to hit Ctrl-Q, because Q and A are switched between the French and US layout). So this was the same problem as Oli44 (and other posters). Solution: using gnome-keyboard-properties, I deleted the US layout. Now the gnome-terminal line editing works normally. This is still a bug in gtk, however. -- ubuntu gnome-terminal - wrong key mapping in bash with a french keyboard https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/174832 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The attached file is a simple test application for the routine proposed by Maxim Levitsky. Hi Teej! I just wanted to let you know my problem with hearing, seeing videos, music, is fixed. Finally after a few weeks I'm able to see, hear, Myspace, You tube, Justin.tv, once again. I followed some instructions on a post from the Ubuntu forum and it helped. Here it is If any others are installed, such as libflash-mozplugin, mozilla-plugin-gnash, or swfdec-mozilla, mark them for removal. Then after removing swfdec-mozilla, I opened a terminal, typed sudo apt-get remove flashplugin-nonfree. Went to You Tube, everything was working great. Below are the directions.Bye! Open up System → Administration → Synaptic Package Manager, and search for flash. The packages you want are flashplugin-nonfree, libflashsupport, and possibly ubuntu-restricted-extras (which will install the flashplugin-nonfree package and a number of others). [Bug 281471] Re: Unable to use 'locate' to locate files mlocate.db permission denied
Jordan, I had the same problem. After a Jaunty install, I found that /usr/bin/mlocate belonged to the ssl-cert group, clearly incorrect! Reading the man page for locate, I found that locate (which is symlinked to mlocate by default) must run as a set-gid mlocate (which means the process automatically belongs to the mlocate group on startup). Ian Abbott's solution is therefore the correct one. Yours works, but users are not supposed to belong to this group. [Bug 377194] [NEW] Thinkpad T61 locks up / freezes randomly; no flashing caps lock light, mouse cursor can be moved
Public bug reported: I was experiencing Bug #300693 (Thinkpad T61p hardlock flashing caps lock) on a Thinkpad T61. This is on a standard Jaunty 386 generic install, up to date as of 2009-05-16. After installing linux-backports- modules-jaunty, as suggested in the comments to that bug report, the machine still freezes, but slightly differently: the mouse cursor can still be moved and the CapsLock LED is not flashing. Otherwise the machine does not respond, but the SysRq key works. I am reporting these slightly softer freezes separately in this report, as suggested by Jamin W. Collins. [Bug 373020] Re: Ubuntu 9.04 - flash video requests Javascript on 64 bit
I just wanted say that I'm very impressed with 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope) version. Being a windows XP user most of my life. I found the change to Ubuntu a bit difficult, annoying, because it seemed like every simple task was nightmare in Ubuntu as opposed to windows. But I have to admit these last couple of months I've been with Ubuntu, have been great. The user friendly help/assistance is awesome without there I help I would surely be lost. So to all the Ubuntu team, keep up the good work.
