[Bug 37027] Re: samba fails to upgrade due to post-installation script
The problem is now fixed for me. After purging all Samba I did try an apt-get install samba4. This did not work and it claimed there was a lock somewhere. I checked and Samba was set to load during the startup phase each time I started the computer up. I unlocked and then set samba not to be loaded at start up and it installed samba4. The problems with samba seem to be more my messing with it trying to get my win box printer to work over a LAN than a real bug. Indeed, it seems to be something run in the background; it doesn't show up in the strace as far as I can see. Maybe lsb_release needs to ensure that its Python module is always available, rather than requiring itself to be configured first; we've had some discussion around that. I got this bug with liferea on 2 PC with Jaunty 64 bits where I installed winbind. My fix for dhcp3 starting on power-up is to chgrp the /etc/dhcp3 directory to dhcpd, then it works. Won't work for everyone, but for me, since the box is only a DHCP server, it's fine. The error that flies by but it says that it can't read the config file. That's because the directory is owned by root:root and is set to 750, so you gotta be root or in group root to see what's in that directory. A possible solution in case both client and server need access is to put the dhcp and dhcpd users into the root group. I can add info to this behavior: It is not restricted to plain-text mode - also occurs in html. The inconvenience is that it become impossible to split lines in the quote, say, to insert a reply. The workaround is to copy the text inside the format box and then past- as-quotation to the end - then erase the entire format box. Examining the page source when this happens shows me that the original email was formatted using a table. Splitting a line in the quote would involved adding additional tags to end the row, the columb, and the table, then restart it again. [Bug 375285] Re: jaunty constant overheating
I have the same problem on HP tx2000 laptop. It seems to be the problem with NVidia videocard (or chipset?). It works fine and temperature is moderate (50~70 C) unless you try to watch flash videos - then it overheats in about 10 minutes. My /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf file already listed by arrays (although using UUID=blah instead of devices=blah). I didn't have linux-image installed. I tried installing it but it doesn't seem to do much (I guess because it's one of those virtual package type things?). But I did this and it fixed my problem: sudo dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-2.6.28-11-generic It surprised me that that fixed it, because I had run /usr/sbin/update- initramfs -u -k all and that did NOT fix it.
