[Bug 502607] [NEW] Cannot Browse to Windows Shared Printer In Lucid
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: samba Description:Ubuntu lucid (development branch) Release:10.04 Method: * Open System - Administration - Printing from the gnome panel * Select New * Network Printer - Windows Printer via SAMBA * Browse * The workgroup MSHOME is shown. The machine sharing the printer is part of MSHOME * Trying to Open the MSHOME sub-tree I am greeted with a Authentication Dialog box. When I do the same thing on my Karmic installation it will browse to my printer. If I put the same path as in Karmic for the printer in the SMB Printer box the printer works. [Bug 502607] Re: Cannot Browse to Windows Shared Printer In Lucid
Pretty sure this is related to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/490201 It's not just a printer issue: you can not see any of the machines in the workgroup. FWIW I don't think it is just a Nautilus issue, as the same behaviour is exhibited in gnome-commander. smbclient has been suggested as a potential avenue to explore. -- Cannot Browse to Windows Shared Printer In Lucid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/502607 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 502762] [NEW] [karmic] winbind installation causes apt to fail
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: winbind winbind 3.4.0-3ubuntu5.1 installs and works, but nothing involving apt works after it's installed. [Bug 502543] [NEW] Cannot boot more than twice without fsck
Public bug reported: I know there are other similar bug reports, but I cannot find anything specific t this issue. After upgrading from Jaunty to Karmic, I ran into major problems with booting. i am currently using grub 2 and have converted my file system to ext4. The symptoms of this bug are that after running fsck, the system boots normally. On the second boot, it usually boots normally. By the third boot, it either takes 10 to 30 min to boot or will not boot at all. The boot sequence always goes smoothly (and fast) up to 'apparmor complain mode'. When it slows down or freezes it's at either fsck check (clean or otherwise), or at loading keymap. Currently, although this has not always been the case, I get some mountall failures during the boot sequence. On occasion, I also receive some alsa failures, and sometimes cpu 1 Bug soft lockup. None of these happen on every boot sequence, but after three reboots a fsck is required to boot into the upgraded Karmic install. Also of note, I have clean installation of Karmic on another partition that boots fine. Same issue here! I get stuck at 64.1 MB. That's it. I thought for a second that I should maybe get the upgraded subscription, but if it doesn't work at the free level AT ALL, why waste my money. I would pay if Canonical fixed this bug right quick. -- Ubuntu one simply doesn't work. I have tried unsubscribing and resubscribing. [Bug 502454] Re: add-apt-repository should allow version specification or offer next highest repo version if repo for running version is not found
That would be me :-) I'm pretty new in this community, and have been working on bugfixing in the software-properties package. As I have been told when I raised the question myself, it's not the date that matters when marking an issue as duplicate, but the amount of information, clarity, or anything else that would make one report seem more useful to the developers than another. If they are more or less equivalent, then it doesn't matter much which is marked as duplicate... any open issue will eventually get fixed (hopefully!), regardless of submitter or date. The submitter felt that the new submission was clearer - if you feel that the two issues are not the same, or that the earlier one better describes it, or any mistake has been made in either of the reports, feel free to correct them - we're all on the same team here :-) To unmark a duplicate, I think you just edit the duplicate setting to be blank. -- add-apt-repository should allow version specification or offer next highest repo version if repo for running version is not found https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/502454 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 447241] Re: kubuntu Karmic network dsl doesn't work
It sounds like: Bug #432205 But I think it is not a duplicate of bug #334122 - that's about mobile broadband connections! 1. I also add a DSL (PPPoE) connection. I realized that the plasma widget doesn't show me a DSL connection. I can set a DSL connection with pppoeconf and connect with pon dsl-provider - but it doesn't work for me. 2. A little fix: Edit /etc/network/interfaces (with root privileges) and remove everything that doesn't begin with an auto (like auto eth0 and auto lo). for example an interfaces file can looks like this: auto lo auto eth0 -- kubuntu Karmic network dsl doesn't work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/447241 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 461654] Re: hang during boot until orinoco drivers re-enabled
Hmmm... no WPA doesn't help a lot I still have the old 2.6.28-14-generic kernel installed and available in GRUB. My Xubuntu-installation still works with this kernel... including WLAN WPA2. But it's not a 100% solution since I experience some troubles with my X when running the old kernel and the new 9.10 Xubuntu: sometimes, my external monitor gets filled completely white while the internal LCD remains intact. The only way to fix that is to restart X... :-( Some from my point of view / on my machine there are two choices: * Run the new kernel with permanently working X and permanently no WLAN/WPA * Run the old kernel with occasionally breaking X and full WLAN/WPA Make your choice. -- hang during boot until orinoco drivers re-enabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/461654 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
