[Bug 427612] Re: does not pass pressed caps lock to client
The faulty patch indeed is only present until Karmic (205_lock_keys.diff, not 005). I guess that then the best workaround is to patch the karmic qemu-kvm as in comment #13. -- does not pass pressed caps lock to client https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/427612 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu-kvm in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error caused by a corrupted archive. [Bug 521397] [NEW] Unable to mount shares from Windows ME
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: samba I'm having trouble mounting two directories shared from a Windows ME computer on the local network. the annoyance of this problem is, that you have to find out why kvm_intel is loaded, although you have set up a blacklist for it. if i put something on a presumable system-wide blacklist, i dont expect it to be loaded in another way. it this patch is not included, than the manpage of modprobe.d should mention, that there may be other mechanisms loading modules, it can not control imho. redhat had a similar bug https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=383921 and i noticed quite a few postings regarding blacklisting kvm_* on the ubuntuforums (most of them without a hint to this bug). ** Bug watch added: Red Hat Bugzilla #383921 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=383921 ** Bug watch removed: Red Hat Bugzilla #383921 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=383921 -- module blacklisting not respected https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/484807 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to qemu-kvm in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

This bug was reported four years ago and still hasn't been fixed? Seriously? Just wow. Anyways... I have this problem too and it's very annoying. The package manager has to continue to work even if files belonging to packages are missing, because the user might be using it to recover from filesystem corruption, or maybe a wayward rm -rf. So the only way to recognize that a filesystem isn't mounted that should be is for the package manager to parse /etc/fstab. But then, what fstab entries should be treated as required by dpkg/apt? Should a noauto entry be required? Is your /boot even /in/ your fstab? (For some users it may not be, in which case this is completely impossible to detect!) And this is a package management issue, not an issue with the grub package, because long before update-grub is called and triggers this error, the kernel package update has already been unpacked and dropped its files on the wrong filesystem (the /boot directory of the root filesystem). So any changes to update-grub to fail more gracefully would only give a false sense of security. Apt supports configuring hooks to run commands before and after installing packages. I know users who use this to remount their read-only filesystems read-write for package installation; I think a similar hook would address your needs here better than anything that could be done by default in the package manager, since yours is, after all, very much a non-standard configuration. -- Steve Langasek Give me a lever long enough and a Free OS Debian Developer to set it on, and I can move the world. I've always experienced the bug as the original author posted, but now it is worse. I'm not sure what has changed on my system - perhaps some X or Gnome updates. KeePassX now refuses to copy into the system clipboard completely, whether I right-click-copy, double-click on the password field, or ctrl+c. It is using *some* clipboard, because when I copy text from KeePassX, I can paste back into KeePassX (into another field or into the search field), but pasting into something outside of KeePassX results in nothing. [Bug 477711] Re: nfs: server not responding, timed out, then nfs4 locks up
Well, if TCP is supported (and even is the default!) I think it should work. I see switching to UDP as a workaround that I was lucky to find. There is no sense in accepting that a provided feature (NFS4 over TCP) does not work reliably. It would be better remove it, so other people don't fall into this trap (now I'm a bit provocative, I know)! The best would be to keep this bug report open until more data can be gathered which might lead to a proper fix. A fortunate side effect of the present bug report is that it serves as documentation of a workaround for others that just need to get the thing to work. That's part of the reason I wrote a descriptive title. On a side note, I realize that there may be an underlying problem in the TCP implementation, but NFS4 should not block completely even in that case. -- nfs: server not responding, timed out, then nfs4 locks up https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/477711 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Actually, that's not true, that is, custom shortcuts do not necessarily work. So, for instance, alt+f4 works, as does ctrl+shift+m ('m' and 'a' are in the same position on both Dvorak and Sholes layout). [Bug 521316] [NEW] Problem with large windows on small display
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome I have Ubuntu 9.10 (with all available updates installed) on an ASUS eeePC 1005HA netbook. Its display is rather small (10, resolution is 1024x600), smaller than many applications' windows are. When app window is too large to fit the screen, the following problem occurs: when I click on any control inside the window, the window itself jumps up/down (if height is too big) or left/right (if width is too big). I cannot drag the window: clicking its header just causes that jumping, maximize/minimize/close buttons do not work as well. This bug is extremly annoying and makes many GUI applications unusable. Steps to reproduce: 1. Install Ubuntu 9.10 on a computer with a small display (like eeePC 1005HA) 2. Install application with a large main window (verified, e.g., on Eric and QtCreator) 3. Verify that part of the application window is outside the screen 4. it is a need for clearer english and straight to the point. The current directions are confusing to new users. EG - to share this drive with an existing OS, and split into 2, use this option to use an existing unused drive partition, use this option Etc. But NO, no-one has done it yet, and I have since loaded on 7.10 UBUNTU by deleting the other partitions with ACRONIS Rescue Disk.It is much simpler to use, and the options of ACRONIS are not onboard UBUNTU OS setup discs. 2gt0tgBOBK From: thecliff thecliffgard...@gmail.com To: rkoom...@yahoo.com Sent: Sat, 13 February, 2010 8:10:41 AM Subject: [Bug 176343] Re: Switching From Windows guide needs to explain the guided partitioning option rather than manual partitioning Is anyone currently working on this or has it been resolved? -- Switching From Windows guide needs to explain the guided partitioning option rather than manual partitioning https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/176343 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. -- Switching From Windows guide needs to explain the guided partitioning option rather than manual partitioning https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/176343 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
