[Bug 369575] Re: Why is /usr/share/pam-configs/krb5 specifying minimum_uid= ?
Daniel, I've opened a separate bug, bug #579826, to track the problem with pam- auth-update not saving changes to the pam_krb5 module options. Would you mind testing the libpam-runtime 1.1.1-2ubuntu3 package in lucid- proposed and reporting on that bug whether it solves the problem for you (specifically, the problem of config changes being lost - I realize you may not consider it a complete solution for your use case)? -- Why is /usr/share/pam-configs/krb5 specifying minimum_uid= ? https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/369575 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to kerberos-configs in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Hi, I've had this same problem on a Lucid Lynx upgrade on all of our servers. [Bug 571093] Re: libvirtd eats away more memory over time
I spent some more time on this, and it appears my leak is related to multipath. Shutting down multipath (multipath -F; service multipath- tools stop) stops the leak. Alvin also appears to have multipath running, it's listed in the dmesg he uploaded. The udev messages I'm seeing in the libvirtd log are mirrored when running udevadm monitor. I found that removing |change from the ACTION line in /lib/udev/rules.d/95-multipath.rules appears to fix the leak, or at least slows it down considerably. I ran my two servers overnight, and this morning libvirtd on the changed server is using 53MB of RES memory as reported by top, and the unchanged server is using 2.5GB. Both had similar workloads. Here's the exact line: /lib/udev/rules.d/95-multipath.rules from: ACTION==add|change, SUBSYSTEM==block, RUN+=/sbin/multipath -v0 /dev/%k to: ACTION==add, SUBSYSTEM==block, RUN+=/sbin/multipath -v0 /dev/%k I found it was added in debian bug #489850, and it looks harmless enough to change, at least in my instance. Also, an overnight run with multipath turned off resulted in only 5MB of RES memory usage by libvirtd. -- libvirtd eats away more memory over time https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/571093 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 580708] [NEW] Can't run multiple saslauthd daemons as per the documentation
Public bug reported: I am trying to use postfix with cyrus. Since the debian postfix runs chrooted by default and since the version of cyrus shipping with Lucid has the location of the saslauthd socket hard-coded, it seems like the best idea is to run separate saslauthd daemons for these processes. (Making a symlink to the socket from the chroot jail to /var/run seems like a kludge to me, particularly since /var/run is cleared out on every reboot.) According to the document: /usr/share/doc/sasl2-bin/README.Debian.gz it should be possible to run multiple saslauthd daemons, but when I follow these instructions *precisely*, I get the error message: saslauthd[4747] :detach_tty : Cannot start saslauthd saslauthd[4747] :detach_tty : Another instance of saslauthd is currently running Let me preclude the question did I remember to set up a different socket for each instance of saslauthd(\w*) in /etc/default: yes, I did set up different sockets (/var/run/postfix/var/run/saslauthd and /var/run/saslauthd) and tried this several times. [Bug 369575] Re: Why is /usr/share/pam-configs/krb5 specifying minimum_uid= ?
Happy to give it a try, Steve. I just commented in that bug report. This is a potential solution, but putting aside the tricky case of what happens if the common-* files have customized options, and then the PAM profile changes?, another problem with this approach is the fragility of the customization. If you deselect the module, update, then reselect it, and update... the customized module options are gone without a trace. There's no way to get them back, other than making the same edit to the common-* files again. The only real way to safeguard such customizations is to revert the files to manually-edited mode. I'm not terribly comfortable with the way the statefulness works with this approach, either. The PAM configuration is not just a vector of bits indicating enabled/disabled profiles, but also whatever customizations have been made in the common-* files. If I'm not aware of what these customizations are, then I have no good way of knowing if my PAM config is just that vector, or if there's something more to it. There's no mechanism to tell me here are all the module options that are different from what's in the profiles.

[Bug 580716] [NEW] [Lucid] Mouse cursor goes haywire when changing 'XScreens'
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Firstly a little background on my setup. I have an Nvidia GeForce 7200 Video card with dual outputs. I have two monitors attached to this video card. (IBM SGI) physically arranged in that order. define: Haywire = The mouse cursor starts flickering and moving on the screen horizontally without the mouse actually moving. When this occurs everything become unresponsive resulting in a hard reset of the system. The problem I am having is, by default my primary monitor is the SGI on the right. When I try to move the location of the IBM from the right to the left of the SGI monitor using the Nvidia Xserver configuration tool(ultimately xorg.conf) the mouse goes haywire as soon as I try to move it off the SGI monitor on to the IBM Monitor. As long as I have the monitors set in the xorg.conf file as (SGI IBM) everything works fine; excepting that to get to my IBM monitor that is physically on the left I have to move off the SGI to the right. [Bug 580719] [NEW] Pen crazy in tablet PC, Lucid
Public bug reported: Frequently pen stops working correctly and it goes crazy in my IBM thinkpad X41 Tablet. [Bug 558998] Re: [lucid] compiz-gnome broken because of metacity update
After reinstalling most of the system, I tried logging in in GNOME safe mode, and metacity was running correctly. Big clue that it was something to do with the GNOME session, and I remembered I'd stored various startup applications. So if starting metacity on the command line as above and then going to System Preferences Startup Applications Options tab click on Remember Currently-running Application and tick automatically remember seemed to work. So this isn't apparently related to the compiz-gnome package, but to the upgrade process and its effect on the saved session. [Bug 574116] Re: Mythweather only updates once a day
Thank you for helping to improve Ubuntu by opening this ticket. I'm marking this ticket as high because of the potential widespread chaos it could cause across a wide range of possible applications. [Bug 580724] [NEW] Merge sbuild 0.60.0-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: sbuild Please merge sbuild 0.60.0-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main) Changelog entries since the last merge: sbuild (0.60.0-1) unstable; urgency=low * debian/control: - Upgrade to Standards-Version 3.8.4. - Use ${misc:Depends} as required by debhelper. * sbuild: - Only run schroot --info once on startup, to speed up the startup time when many chroots exist (Closes: #546624). Thanks to Nelson Elhage for finding this issue and suggesting a suitable approach for fixing it. - Don't append binNMU or extra version to version number for use in the DSC filename (Closes: #546647). Thanks to Nelson Elhage for finding this issue. - Distinguish between failed/attempted builds (Closes: #538083). - Build directory cleaned under all failure conditions (Closes: #538085). - Flush stdout explicitly in logger to avoid choppy output when monitoring interactively. Autoflushing stdout appears to be broken in Perl 5.10 so flush explicitly in addition to enabling autoflush. Thanks to Ryan Niebur for spotting this. - Print a list of all installed packages and versions, in addition to toolchain packages (Closes: #553301). Thanks to Felipe Sateler for this suggestion. - Don't default distribution to unstable (Closes: #559659). Defaulting to unstable can result in unintentional uploads of packages targetted at other distributions, such as experimental, which can potentially cause serious breakage. As a result, it is safer to require manually specifying the distribution, or explicitly setting it in the configuration file. - Set the man-db man-db/auto-update parameter to false to disable unnecessary work in a build environment. - Don't give back packages failing the arch check (Closes: #561936). Thanks to Philipp Kern for reporting this. - Add command-line and configuration options to enable running apt-get clean, upgrade and dist-upgrade prior to building. These complement the existing option to update the chroot, which is now also fixed (Closes: #521096). - Add $build_source variable to sbuild.conf to complement the --source command-line options (Closes: #564528). Thanks to David Bremner for this suggestion. - Allow setting of $build_dir in sbuild.conf (Closes: #535911). Thanks to Andres Mejia for this patch. - Add $check_space option to allow free space checking to be disabled (Closes: #551917). Thanks to Bruno Kleinert for this suggestion. - --apt-update both updates and upgrades the chroot (Closes: #521096). Thanks to Gustavo Noronha Silva for this patch. Note the original bug report 'get_apt_command' error was fixed on the 17th March 2009. - Allow the use of -C as well as --check-depends-algorithm as documented (Closes: #546673). Thanks to Nelson Elhage for this patch. * Add sbuild-clean script (Closes: #551310). Thanks to Andres Mejia for this patch. * sbuild-createchroot: Compute an absolute path for the chroot location. Thanks to Cyril Brulebois for this patch. * wanna-build: - Depend on postgresql-8.4-debversion in place of postgresql-8.3-debversion (Closes: #559607). Thanks to Martin Pitt for reporting this. - wanna-build now reads its system configuration from the correct location (/etc/buildd/wanna-build.conf, not /etc/wanna-build/wanna-build.conf). - Remove extra parenthesis from wanna-build-merge-packages (Closes: #553364). Thanks to Felipe Sateler for this patch. * Remove absent -t option for --top from sbuild-stats.1 (Closes: #566320). Thanks to Kurt Roeckx. * buildd: - Don't bind-mount /home into the schroot. (Closes: #566315) - Extract architecture for .changes filename from the .changes file instead of just using the system arch. (Closes: #566398) - Fix NO_WARN_PATTERN default to not warn about sbuilds build/current-* symlinks. (Closes: #566722) - Do all w-b interaction, leave nothing of it to sbuild. Yes. That worked for me. Found this tip on Ubuntu forums and it looks so much better (if not any faster, in fact GRUB2 to desktop is now averaging 1 minute with the occasional long boot due to fscking). I still would prefer a continuous progress bar. The 5 dots cycle through several times before X starts so they're not an accurate indicator of the boot progress like usplash was. @Nigel: We need to fix the bug in the devel release (maverick) first. Then we can fix it in a SRU (probably we want to the fix in lucid too). To your debdiff: 1. The version should be 1.0.20ubuntu0.1 instead of 1.0.20ubuntu1. 2. LP should be capital letters (lp - LP) Please reassign ubuntu-sponsors once these points are addressed. -- Fails to debootstrap squeeze chroot due to missing apt-get https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/533369 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 206952] Re: suspend only works once
Same problem on Lucid with a fresh install on Asus 1201N. I found a forum that suggested the addition of he usbcore.autosuspend=-1 to grub. In fact it works if I had that option. -- suspend only works once https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/206952 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 580733] [NEW] f-spot can't resize photos in edit mode
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: f-spot F-spot should be able to resize photos as an 'edit' operation, not merely when exporting to a gallery or web application. There is a plugin to enable this, but it is not installed or enabled by default. The use case is that I want to scale a few images down before emailing them. It is not at all obvious when looking at the edit menu that resize should be anywhere else. Once you do find that you can resize when doing export, it is less useful than an edit option since you cannot preview the resized image to see if it looses too much detail.
