[Bug 532733] Re: apt/dpkg in qemu-system-arm hangs if a big task is installed
I'm now implementing the support for creating a rootstock rootfs without requiring root, and I also got stuck at a segmentation fault, just after executing the debootstrap' second stage. I'm running the qemu-system-arm from qemu-kvm-extras 0.12.4+noroms- 0ubuntu4, at maverick. [Bug 562189] Re: AttributeError: 'Libvirt' object has no attribute 'vm'
I ran into this same problem (Ubuntu 10.04). As the successful use of the --hostname option already suggests, this has to do with the hostname given to the VM. This hostname is also used in the xml files that are placed in the /etc/libvirt/qemu directory as noted in comments #11/#12/#15. If one wants to (re-)create a VM with a name that has been used previously, it is not only necessary to remove the .xml file in /etc/libvirt/qemu/ (comment #15), but also that libvirtd is told to remove the VM definition (basically what comment #15 did by restarting libvirtd). The simplest way to tell libvirtd to forget about the old VM host is to run virsh --connect qemu:///system undefine your_hostname (this also removes the .xml file from /etc/libvirt/qemu). Because i installed the CC based on these packages and and restart eucalyptus-cc did nothing, whereas a restart eucalyptus CLEAN=1 worked for me? I checked it today and it is still there for me :-( I checked the code and found that php5-curl in ext/curl/interface.c line 819 calls curl_global_init(CURL_GLOBAL_SSL). If I changed it to CURL_GLOBAL_NOTHING the apache didn't crash. So I followed this code through the libcurl to the openssl library and found out that if remove the initialisation of ENGINE_load_aesni (see debian/patches/aesni.patch line 2429) the php5 curl won't load https pages but the Apache won't segfault. When I reviewed this original SRU, I just looked at the realloc()/memset() sequence, which seems fine at the first sight. realloc() by no way guarantees you that the reallocated pointer is still the same as the original one, so you would have to copy the previous contents if they are different. But the code does not do that and blindly assumes that the pointer remains constant. However, Pawel's patch should avoid this regression and does not scribble over the previously written altsettings, so I'll sponsor this into lucid. Thank You so far. However ... In my comment #39 I wrote that everything was ok after downgrading libusb. This is not fully correct. After I detected the bug HP printer won't work at all. After downgrading, HP printer start printing again but today I discovered it is not able to print doubleface paper anymore (two side printing) when printing PDF files from the Document Viewer. The HP printer works greatly from OpenOffice for instance, printing doubleface paper smoothly, but it fails to print doubleface from PDF files. Before the bug appeared I had no problem with doubleface PDF documents. I can't understand if there is some relationship with the libusb downgrade. I'm trying to investigate it furthermore. It looks like this bug has changed over time; the touchpad does indeed seem to be being misdetected by the kernel now - it wasn't in the initial report, which was being correctly picked up by the synaptics X input driver. That means that this will actually be two separate bugs. Let's first deal with the kernel one, which will be masking what appears to be a second one in the synaptics driver. The device started to be identified as a Generic Wheel Mouse after an update - could anyone identify which update it was? That will make it much easier to work out what's happened.
