[Bug 644250] Re: Failure to resume from suspend
Like the rest of you I am also affected by this bug 3 different systems. Two laptops and One Desktop, all with intel processors. After recent upgrades from Lucid to Maverick each system has various problems resuming from suspend. I haven't had a chance to try 2.6.36 yet but will this weekend and report back here on my findings. Also I should mention that the processors being affected are a Pentium M, Pentium 4 and Core 2 Duo, so that may debunk the i core processor theory. [Bug 349767] Re: external USB hard drive disconnects
I can trigger this quite reliably in Lucid. It seems to happen with 3 of my 4 external USB disks, at least so far. I just need to copy a few hundred GB of data, and most days it will happen eventually - sometimes rather quickly, sometimes it copies for a few hours before happening. So long in fact that it may be by chance that it hasn't happened with the 4th disk yet. I tried the Natty kernel 2.6.36-1-generic from the kernel ppa, and after happily copying 200 GB it happened with that, too. -- external USB hard drive disconnects https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/349767 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 576751] Re: wnck-applet has memory leak
Reading the report at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome- panel/+bug/17787 might give a clue to the source of the problem. The real culprit seems to be the transparency of the panel. The panel with the wnck-applet needs to have both auto-hide and transparency enabled for the memory leak to show up (I just checked now, even if auto-hide is off and only transparency is enabled, switching workspaces causes a leak). After disabling transparency by changing the panel background to None (but keeping auto-hide enabled), I am no longer seeing the memory leak on my system. [Bug 666629] Re: Thunderbird 2 profile not being migrated
@Micah Maybe I was a bit unclear. I meant to say that I did not migrate any profiles, but created fresh ones instead. That's because I never had success in migrating TB2 profiles to Lucid until now, neither from Hardy nor from Karmic. And since I'm a sysadmin, I had tried that with ~20 different profiles and finally gave up, but that's another story which needs not be discussed here. Since the welcome page thing is already followed upstream in 643736, we can close this here as duplicate. I just didn't find it before. @RedSingularity Do we still need apport information? [Bug 83922] Re: gdesklets does not start
curran_kelleher wrote on 2010-08-25: I can't believe this 3-year-old bug has not yet been fixed. Well, we (the gdesklets team) can't believe it either. We have released a fix a looong time ago (August 2007, see post #21). Ubuntu is still stuck on 0.36.1 even though we have released 0.36.2 in February 2010. There is not much we can do about it if there is nobody willing or able to build a new ubuntu package of gDesklets as right now it looks like all (active) member of the gdesklets team are running non-ubuntu linux systems. Finally, take a look at post #23 (September 2007, but still up-to-date :/ ): Ubuntu ships a broken version, even in gutsy. DON'T USE IT! We recommend to use a fresh version from bzr. I would recomment to use the latest source package instead (at the moment this is 0.36.2 which can be found here: http://www.gdesklets.info/archive/gDesklets/ ) as the bzr version is a development version. Same for the gdesklets-data package. This is packed with lots of *very* old and non-working desklets. We have been complaining about it for a looong time, too. But it is still out there giving users a hard time. So again: DON'T USE IT! I know this is not helping, but I feel it needs to be said what is going wrong here (and why). We would be more than happy if there was a working or better (or any ?) gDesklets support in ubuntu. We would be more than happy to find someone to set up a PPA... Just my 5 cents ;). I can confirm that changing future date (whose timestamp is greater than 32 bit signed integer) to smaller value solves the problem.
