[Bug 413657] Re: Please sync tor 0.2.1.19-1 (universe) from Debian testing (main)
I've talked with Peter on IRC. He is not interested in maintaining tor in Ubuntu, but he can help other involved people. So, can we sync? Benjamin, Scott, what we need to get? -- Please sync tor 0.2.1.19-1 (universe) from Debian testing (main) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/413657 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 413657] Re: Please sync tor 0.2.1.19-1 (universe) from Debian testing (main)
[I'm not talking for the Tor folks here; this is my own opinion.] I think the primary concern of upstream is that users get current Tor versions when they ask for Tor. Historically that has been a problem in Ubuntu, where users apt-get installed (or whatever the shiney equivalent for that is nowadays) tor and were left with an old and not very well working tor without ever knowing it. If Ubuntu can manage to keep their Tor package reasonably current in all supported releases then I guess that having tor packages in Ubuntu would be just fine with the Tor people. (I don't really buy the entire signed by a trusted key-argument. It might apply to random third party repositories, but I don't think it is all that strong for the OS's own repositories. If the OS wants to own me I already lose, regardless of whether I get Tor from the place with the special fairy-dust or not.) It has been suggested that I maintain the tor package in Ubuntu, but I don't think that's such a great idea. I know too little about Ubuntu's internal workings and communication channels to be effective. However, I'm quite willing to help any Ubuntu person who wants to bring Tor back to Ubuntu should they have specific questions, etc. Cheers, weasel -- Please sync tor 0.2.1.19-1 (universe) from Debian testing (main) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/413657 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 650498] Re: Expansion:'ẞ' LATIN CAPTIAL LETTER SHARP S (U+1E9E)
I'm not sure what you're arguing here. The 1903 Sulzbacher Form, effectively a thorough romanization of ß, *is* intended to be derived from a long-s+short-s ligature. It's Fraktur forms which were almost invariably long-s+z or long-s+ezh forms. It's on *this* point that Tschichold was flatly wrong - attempting to retrofit long-s+short-s into a Fraktur structure - but Fraktur is not the origin of the modern character. The image you post of the Sulzbacher Form is very clearly a long-s short-s ligature - absolutely no sign of a z or ezh, cursive or otherwise. Today we do find glorious diversity in the design of ß, but the Sulzbacher Form is the most common. If we were discussing the design of a Fraktur face, we would be discussing long-s+ezh designs, but as we're not, a Sulzbacher Form ß is the right choice for the Ubuntu font. [Bug 555158] Re: glxinfo crashed with SIGSEGV in XF86DRIQueryExtension()
I found that you don't need uninstall fglrx (or nvidia, as that driver will ship its own libGL as well) to use mesa libGL again - you can use sudo update-alternative --set gl_conf /path/to/ld.so.conf To see the available GL configurations, run update-alternatives --list gl_conf For example, if you run one of the open source drivers such as intel, radeon or nouveau, update the gl configuration alternative to the mesa configuration. sudo update-alternative --set gl_conf/usr/lib/mesa/ld.so.conf Or, if you run fglrx run sudo update-alternative --set gl_conf /usr/lib/fglrx/ld.so.conf Nvidia ships its own GL configuration alternative, which works the same. After doing so, you need to run sudo ldconfig to reconfigure the dynamic linker run-time bindings. It may be better to do so when X is not running, as e.g. fglrx will crash if you switch to mesa while it is running. -- glxinfo crashed with SIGSEGV in XF86DRIQueryExtension() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/555158 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 630626] Re: gnome-about-me crashed in VMWare 3.1.1 running 10.10 beta
I noticed this after uninstalling Evolution and lots of evolution- something packages. It turns out gnome-about-me uses files provided by the evolution-data-server package. Now, currently gnome-control- center recommends evolution-data-server, so I probably shouldn't have removed it. But given part of it crashes without evolution-data-server being installed, wouldn't it be better to change the recommends to depends? Another options would be splitting the gnome-about-me program into its own independent package, recommended by the gnome-control-center and installed by default, and it alone depending from evolution-data- server. This way uninstalling evolution-data-server would warn of the removal of gnome-about-me, but not touch anything else in gnome- control-center. -- gnome-about-me crashed in VMWare 3.1.1 running 10.10 beta https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/630626 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 677917] [NEW] fglrx screen blank after suspend/resume Dell Inspiron 1545
Public bug reported: After suspend / resume, screen is blank. The video card in this machine is M92 LP [Mobility Radeon HD 4300 Series] and I think the fglrx driver doesn't recognize this (see attached Xorg.0.log). [Bug 634413] Re: Nagios Configuration Section Confusing
Thanks for your work, Patrick. I was not able to merge the branch into the Natty dev branch, so I downloaded the diff and applied it manually with a few formatting changes. Fix committed to rev 589 of the Natty dev branch. In the future, it is easier if you simply post a patch to the bug report for small changes like this rather than making a whole new branch. You can just check out the current dev branch, make your changes, and grab the diff, e.g. bzr diff ~/my_patch.diff and attach my_patch.diff to the bug report.
