[Bug 696774] Re: package bacula-director-mysql 5.0.1-1ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It would appear that the mysql-server package has not been installed prior to installing bacula (as described in the configuration screens during bacula setup). Please could you confirm whether this is the case; if mysql-server is not installed then install this package first and then re-install bacula. [Bug 695697] Re: libvirt not working properly with overlays
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. I think that the issue may be that virt-install is specifying the disk format incorrectly. Assuming that you are using qcow2 format, virt-install is incorrectly specifying the overlay file as 'raw': file=/VMs/Windows7DomainTest.ovl,if=none,id=drive- ide0-0-0,boot=on,format=raw This would stop the detection of the base disk image supporting the overlay which would make it look like the disk is not there. Please could you try using the --disk option instead of -f to specify the file to support the VM: --disk path=/VMs/Domainator.ovl,format=qcow2 Please could you also check which version of virtinst you are using - a specific change was made under bug 655392 to help resolve this issue. ** Changed in: libvirt (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/695697 Title: libvirt not working properly with overlays -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

There are general issues with running all-in-one setup in 10.04. Additionally, I suspect that eucalyptus-nc is not running or operating correctly as you wont' have kvm support in your vmware guest. [Bug 698210] Re: package tomcat6 6.0.28-2ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
I suspect that the user specified a 'tomcat6/javaopts' with a '/' in it. This is fix-released in natty. To backport, the change would be to debian/tomcat6.postinst: - | sed s/^TOMCAT6_USER=.*$/TOMCAT6_USER=$TOMCAT6_USER/ \ - | sed s/^TOMCAT6_GROUP=.*$/TOMCAT6_GROUP=$TOMCAT6_GROUP/ \ - | sed s/^JAVA_OPTS=.*$/JAVA_OPTS=\$JAVA_OPTS\/ \ + | sed s%^TOMCAT6_USER=.*$%TOMCAT6_USER=$TOMCAT6_USER% \ + | sed s%^TOMCAT6_GROUP=.*$%TOMCAT6_GROUP=$TOMCAT6_GROUP% \ + | sed s%^JAVA_OPTS=.*$%JAVA_OPTS=\$JAVA_OPTS\% \ That said, you'd just then have a problem if you had a '%' in the JAVA_OPTS variable. ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #597814 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=597814 ** Also affects: tomcat6 (Debian) via http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=597814 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Changed in: tomcat6 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Medium ** Changed in: tomcat6 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to tomcat6 in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/698210 Title: package tomcat6 6.0.28-2ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 495423] Re: update to grub-pc writes MBR without checks, prompt or backup
Hello, This very same issue affected me January 1st 2011. My setup is: - a laptop with HDA encrypted using SafeBoot (require a SafeBoot MBR to work) - Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64-bit version on an external USB disk (this becomes HDB/SDB) Selecting using BIOS boot menu whether to boot using internal disk or external disk. (this works very well) On January 1st I received an system update of grub-pc (and other packages), accepted and installed all of them. After the system update it was no longer possible to boot on the internal HD. Discovered that grub-pc update had trashed the MBR of the internal HD. Had to do a SafeBoot MBR recovery (which is a bit cumbersome) to get the system back to normal again. To me grub/grub2/grub-pc is viral, it should not overwrite and destroy the MBR without asking. // Christian -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/495423 Title: update to grub-pc writes MBR without checks, prompt or backup -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 558581] Re: Indicator-applet forcibly overrides Super+m key combo
Alex Beels, Thanks for the walkthrough; I'm going to try it this weekend! :) - david matson On 01/05/2011 06:22 AM, Alex Beels wrote: @matsonfamily: To replace indicator-applet with indicator-applet- complete:, 1) Install indicator-applet-complete. 2) Remove both indicator-applet (the mail icon) and indicator-session (the on-off button) from the gnome panel. (Right click on icon, and choose Remove From Panel from the menu.) 3) Add indicator-applet-complete to the gnome panel. (Right click on panel background, and choose Add to Panel... from the menu.) The important part is to prevent indicator-applet from running in your session. There is no need to remove it from your machine. If you do not remove indicator-session from your session, you will end up with two on-off buttons on your panel, which won't kill you. However, I don't remember what happens to the conflicting Super+s shortcut if you leave indicator-session running. (I have since gotten so frustrated with the whole indicator-* family that I have removed them entirely. I just use the old fashioned logout menu and volume controls now, and I am much happier. Maybe the next step is to get rid of the rest of Gnome...) I did not test running /usr/bin/gtk-window-decorator by hand after indicator-applet to see if it would steal back the key bindings. I just observed inconsistent behavior with the bindings and looked at the position of indicator in the execution order in each case. Perhaps there is something deeper going on than simply execution order. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/558581 Title: Indicator-applet forcibly overrides Super+m key combo -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 380126] Re: [Karmic] Touchpad not recognised correctly, synaptics driver not in use
Hello you all This post to tell that I tested the patch yesterday. Good news! now I have a fully fonctionnal synaptics touchpad on my Vostro V13 I applied the patch on a 2.6.32 kernel I am using Linux Mint LMDE, debian based on testing branch. Now my synaptics touchpad is well recognized on gpointing-device- settings, and all options seems to work (horizontal, vertical and circle scrolling, lock of the pad when typing on the keyboard, ...) I followed this tutorial (in french, sorry) : http://ashgenesis.developpez.com/linux/kernel-debian/ so to give a summary of what I did, for other to test : I modified my /etc/apt/source.list to include sources : deb-src http://ftp.fr.debian.org/debian testing main contrib non-free then I download linux-source-2.6.32 I followed first steps, ie : cd /usr/src debian:/usr/src# tar -xvjf linux-source-2.6.32.tar.bz2 debian:/usr/src# ln -s linux-source-2.6.32 linux debian:/usr/src# cp /boot/config-‘uname -r‘ /usr/src/linux/.config then I downloaded the above patch in the /usr/src directory, named it v13.patch and applied it : debian:/usr/src#cd linux debian:/usr/src/linux#patch -p1 ../V13.patch once applied, i launched last line of the tutorial to build the kernel (debian style) : debian:/usr/src/linux#make-kpkg --append-to-version -v13 --initrd buildpackage --config menuconfig this last line generated a .deb I installed : debian:/usr/src/linux#dpkg -i ../linux-image-2.6.32-flo_2.6.32-v13-10.00.Custom_i386.deb After a reboot, with no xorg.conf specific config file on /etc/X11, with xserver-xorg-input-synaptics installed, my synaptics touchpad now works on my Vostro V13. Many thanks to the author of the patch! Very happy to get back a fully functionnal touchpad on my V13 (hoping this will be included in future kernel releases) and btw,... [Bug 294648] Re: svn over https with client certificates broken (regression in intrepid)
Ignore the contortions of the neon packaging in Debian/Ubuntu. libneon-gnutls.so.x is an invention of Debian, who weirdly persist in shipping two builds of neon. The Fedora neon (libneon.so.x) is built against GnuTLS. If anybody can show me SSL sites which fail with neon 0.29.5 please speak up. If you are seeing failures with a 0.29.3 build which doesn't have Bryan Cain's patch applied, that is expected. [Bug 698008] [NEW] Relative font sizes/weights not possible in gtkrc
Public bug reported: [This is copied from https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=325767 so that it can be linked to a blueprint.] Currently the font_name field in the gtkrc file is the only way to change fonts and it only allows an absolute change. If a user wants to use a smaller font for certain widgets or if an application tries to provide a gtkrc file that results in a more compact dialog layout, it would be a lot nicer if the font could be specified relative to the desktop-wide configured font. This missing feature leads for example to https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=325324. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/698008 Title: Relative font sizes/weights not possible in gtkrc -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 698007] [NEW] lirc init script can create circular symlinks
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: lirc This is related to bug 697999 and specifically my need to work around that bug. If, in /etc/lirc/hardware.conf, you set REMOTE_SOCKET to /dev/lircd1 and transmitter_socket to /dev/lircd, then the lirc init script will create a circular symlink loop between /dev/lircd and /dev/lircd1. The script tests if OLD_SOCKET != REMOTE_SOCKET, but it should also make sure that OLD_SOCKET != TRANSMITTER_SOCKET Additionally, before removing ${OLD_SOCKET}1 the script should do the same checks, which it currently does none. A patch for this solution is attached. My preference would actually to be to use the new socket locations in /var/run/lircd, however, then the the order I create those sockets is irrelevant, as the magical symlinking always symlinks /dev/lircd to the remote and /dev/lircd1 to the transmitter, which is backwards from how I need it to be. I'm not actually sure what the best fix is here. Perhaps it could just test if the socket is /var/run/lirc/lircd\d+ and if it is, then just symlink to /dev/$(basename $REMOTE_SOCKET) If this is an acceptable solution, I can probably write up a patch for this behavior if necessary. However, there may be other cases the current behavior is designed to correct for. If bug 697999 gets fixed, then this problem will no longer affect me. ** Affects: lirc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/698007 Title: lirc init script can create circular symlinks -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
