[Bug 698885] Re: (READ PLEASE) Cards for buying in Ubuntu Software Center

2011-01-07 Thread Heiner Valverde
I suggest this could be considered a great blueprint for the Software
Center, it's time to make it more easier for the developers to sell
their apps in the Software Center to many people in the world taking in
count you can purchase these cards.

Also, the cards can be digitally cards so can be environmentally
friendly.

[Bug 596303] Re: xfce4-wavelan-plugin crashed with SIGSEGV in XPutImage()

2011-01-07 Thread Charlie Kravetz
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many
changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if
you could test a current, supported, Ubuntu version. If you can test it,
and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload
updated logs by running apport-collect 596303, and any other logs that
are relevant for this particular issue.

[Bug 485118] Re: lib32ncurses5-dev does not include libcurses symlinks

2011-01-07 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package ncurses - 5.7+20101128-1

---
ncurses (5.7+20101128-1) experimental; urgency=low

  [ Sven Joachim ]
  * New upstream patchlevel.
- Clarify that infotocap, captoinfo and tic read text files and do
not work with compiled terminfo files (Closes: #593920).
  * Remove dangling /usr/share/terminfo/k/kon2 symlink (Closes: #522435).
  * Add an ncurses-examples package containing the compiled test programs
(Closes: #34182). Stop shipping the sources in libncurses5-dev.
  * Move documentation and section 3 manpages to a new ncurses-doc package
(Closes: #233400). Suggest ncurses-doc in all -dev packages.
  * Register the documentation in doc-base (Closes: #451667).
  * Remove the rather useless README.Debian (Closes: #606034).
  * Move libtic libraries to /usr.
  * Tighten the dependencies of the lib{32,64}ncurses*-dev packages to their
regular counterparts.
  * Provide symbols files in all library packages.
- Use them to compute the dependencies of the other packages instead of
messing around with local shlibs files.
  * Ship mlterm terminfo in ncurses-term (see #485448).
  * Ship curses and termcap symlinks in lib{32,64}ncurses5-dev (LP: #485118).
  * Add lintian override for the empty /usr/share/terminfo directory that
was introduced in 5.7+20100313-2.
  * Stop building the test programs in every library build.
  * Fix non-idempotency of the install (and thus the binary) target in
debian/rules introduced in 5.7+20100313-1.
  * Do not unnecessarily add /lib32 and /usr/lib32 to dh_shlibdeps' search
path when calculating the dependencies of the 32-bit libraries.
  * Do not allow dh_shlibdeps to fail for the 64-bit libraries.
  * Drop most patches as obsolete or unused:
- 09-fix-delscreen-segfault.diff, applied upstream.
- 06-kfreebsd.diff, apparently no longer needed.
- 03-linux-use-fsuid.diff, patched code that is not compiled if ncurses
is configured with --disable-termcap, as we do.
- 01-use-d-reentrant.diff, no longer needed since all architectures moved
away from LinuxThreads and Policy 3.9.1 has explicitly removed the need
  to #define _REENTRANT.
  * Refresh all remaining Debian patches and add DEP-3 headers to them.
  * Remove the fix for bug #127622 from 02-debian-backspace.diff,
no longer needed.
  * Update patch 02-debian-backspace.diff to get kbs=\177 in all screen-*
terminfo entries (Closes: #602300).
  * Drop the rather outdated screen terminfo from the debian directory and use
the one provided by upstream's terminfo.src instead.
  * Get CFLAGS, CXXFLAGS and LDFLAGS from dpkg-buildflags, adding a build
dependency on dpkg-dev (= 1.15.7).
  * Switch to format 3.0 (quilt).
- Remove quilt build dependency and patch/unpatch logic from debian/rules.
- Drop debian/README.source.
  * Add a debian/watch file.
  * Extend the package descriptions.
  * Remove duplicate Priority: fields from debian/control.
  * Update debian/copyright:
- Update FSF Copyright years.
- Mention other copyright holders and licenses.
- Give a pointer to the current location of the ncurses sources.
- Stop mentioning Debian changes.
  * Upgrade Standards-Version to 3.9.1, no changes needed.

  [ Loïc Minier ]
  * Update patch 05-emdebian-wchar to apply cleanly.
  * Drop 08-pkg-config-libdir patch as dpkg = 1.15.6 don't set
PKG_CONFIG_LIBDIR anymore.

  [ Steve Langasek ]
  * Export LDFLAGS in debian/rules (Closes: #586144).

[Bug 633292] Re: Lights Off game doesn't work in Maverick

2011-01-07 Thread Andy B
Same problems after install of Maverick...
Lights Out worked after installing java and re-installing lights out with
Ubuntu Software Centre (and several other games came along with it). (perhaps
it doesn't need to be reinstalled, but I had already removed it before
installing Java).
Complicated because java is now in the care of Oracle and they are
Windows-centric on their java pages, however
http://www.java.com/en/download/help/linux_install.xml gives instructions (use
self-extracting 20.2mb Not RPM).
I created a java directory in my home directory (ie mkdir ~/java/) copied the
downloaded file into there chmod +x ran it, but if you have multiple users
you should probably put it in /usr (ie sudo mkdir /usr/java) and use sudo to
run it.
off topic - To get java applets in Firefox see
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/manual-plugin-install-linux-136395.html,
test the applet wait ... Firefox should eventually prompt you to install the
Iced Tea plugin.

Doesn't help for Swell Foop though, sorry Dr DiBona.

[Bug 697815] Re: bzr crashed with ShortReadvError in _seek_and_read()

2011-01-07 Thread Henry Gomersall
So it seems ~/.bzr.log was there. Not quite sure how I missed it
(apologies for being a fool).

Anyway, I was having trouble with getting a sensible internal state for
the code using the suggested method, so I branched the tree to an old
commit and then replaced the .bzr directory in my working tree with the
.bzr from the new branch. A few commits later and it all seems to be
working fine.

Thanks for all the help. Is the recommendation then that ext4 should not
be used?

[Bug 332840] Re: $(SHELL) config.status broken

2011-01-07 Thread Colin Watson
This was fixed in Gnulib a while back:

commit 681846cee55a407a08a2bbdc7e1484870ba1a79f
Author: Bruno Haible br...@clisp.org
Date: Tue May 25 21:35:22 2010 +0200

Update to GNU gettext 0.18, part 2.

This means it's also fixed in the gnulib package in natty (though not
maverick, by the looks of things).

[Bug 699862] [NEW] play sound with accent is not possible in impress

I tried to play a sound during a transition of an impress presentation.
I achieve to play ogg and wav sounds with space included in the name,
but it didn't work with an accent (in the folder name as in the file
name).

In fact, i expected to hear the sound but nothing append at the

[Bug 698401] Re: wishlist - ufw support for appmenu indicator

2011-01-07 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Thank you for reporting a bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This
feature (some sort of 'ufw-notify') is on the roadmap
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SecurityTeam/Roadmap#Unscheduled%20Wishlist%20Items).
While it is planned, the feature is not actively being worked on right
now. I do imagine its priority will increase once the network-manager
app-indicator work is done, since this would likely also need network-
manager integration to complete.

[Bug 586814] Re: custom (pgk) translations preempted by lang pack

2011-01-07 Thread Kyle Nitzsche
Generally, language pack-delivered translations are pre-empted by
packaged translations at run-time.

That is, if you install a deb that has mo files, they install to
/usr/share/locale/.

mo files installed by lang packs go here: /usr/share/locale-lanpack/.

(mo files are stripped from pkgs in main, so they don't land in the
'pkg' dir: /usr/share/locale/.)

gettext (through a modification to glibc, I think) in Ubuntu looks in
the pkg location first, then, if not found, falls back to the langpack
location.

This enables users to install customized or non-Ubuntu versions of
packages that may have different strings and get the corresponding
customized translations. While in the vast majority of cases, where no
customized pkg is installed but just the from main is, the lang pack
translations are used. (This is the mechanism OEM has relied upon for
years.)

2011-01-07 Thread Jean-Peer Lorenz
Thank you for using SBackup and for taking the time reporting this bug.

In order to track down the cause of the problem some more information
are required. Please answer the following questions:

* what distribution do you use?
* what version of sbackup is installed; from where was it installed (PPA, from
source)?
* Is the bug reproducible; does it happen every time?
* do you run sbackup as superuser (root) or as regular user?
* Is this a remote target?
* are you able to open your backup destination using Nautilus? Can you provide
a file listing of the questionable snapshot?

Thanks for your help.

Thank you asking how to help. The issue you are reporting is an upstream
one and it would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the
developers of the software at

If you have done so, please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or

Matteo, yes, OP put it as private, sorry.

Yes, there's a workaround, try to find a folder or file in your disk

I can help you if you post the logs in debug mode, or come to IRC, to

[Bug 699868] [NEW] Cannot get MIDI input and output at the same time

2011-01-07 Thread Reuben Thomas
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: musescore

After a lot of fiddling and searching, I have managed to get both MIDI
input and output to work in Musescore, but not at the same time.

To get MIDI output to work, I have to run jackd, and make a connection
from the MScore output channel to the MIDI input channel (this is not
very user-friendly; would it be better to compile libportmidi support
into the Ubuntu version?).

To get MIDI input to work, I have to disable Jack MIDI output in
Musescore's preferences.

Hence, both work, but not at the same time.

I am very pleased with the look of Musescore; I've spent a ridiculous
amount of money on Sibelius over the last 16 years, and it would be
lovely if my latest upgrade, to Sibelius 6, could be my last...

I did make corrections to the

read. Thank you for attempting to follow what was there.

[Bug 604872] Re: qemu-system-arm segfaults emulating versatile machine after running debootstrap --second-stage inside vm

2011-01-07 Thread Peter Maydell
I've now posted this patchset; it comes in 7 parts:

http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/77887/
http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/77882/
http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/77884/
http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/77885/
http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/77888/
http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/77881/
http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/77883/

An upstream qemu with those patches applied successfully runs the test
case given in this bug.

(it is patch 5/7 http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/77888/ in particular
which is dealing with the specific case you've hit here, but I haven't
tested with that patch alone.)

I have the same problem under Lucid. To add some precision to the bug
report: At least in my case, Oo crashes exactly at that point when you

[Bug 699873] [NEW] Empathy sends a second notification after I open the conversation window

2011-01-07 Thread Conscious User
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

When I receive a notification of a new Empathy message and click on its
entry on the messaging menu to open the conversation window, Empathy
sends a second, duplicate notification. This is easy to notice because
if you open the conversation window before the bubble fades out, because
then the second notification is merged with the first one.

This bug will not happen if the conversation window is already opened,
but will happen regardless if I'm using the messaging menu or the
traditional tray icon.

ProblemType: Bug

[Bug 699871] [NEW] Sync cmake 2.8.3-3 (main) from Debian experimental (main)

2011-01-07 Thread Leon Nardella
Public bug reported:

Please sync cmake 2.8.3-3 (main) from Debian experimental (main)

Changelog entries since current natty version 2.8.3-1:

cmake (2.8.3-3) experimental; urgency=low

  * Install documentation to /usr/share/cmake-data instead as it's the base
package rather than cmake. Also link doc directories to it.
  * The job of replacing directories with symlinks apparently is a tough one.
Create a symlink manually in the postinst of the affected (!cmake-data)
packages.

 -- Modestas Vainius mo...@debian.org Sun, 02 Jan 2011 14:10:18 +0200

cmake (2.8.3-2) experimental; urgency=low

  [ Kai Wasserbäch ]
  * debian/source/local-options: Added unapply-patches.
  * debian/watch: Added git-import-orig invocation.
  * debian/gbp.conf: Added, to ensure we use pristine-tar.
  * debian/patches/FindTCL_fix_#600245.diff: Added. (Closes: #600245)

  [ Modestas Vainius ]
  * Install cmake documentation into /usr/share/doc/cmake/ and link doc
directories of the rest binary packages to it (needs debhelper 7.4.2).
(LP: #669197)
  * Backport a patch from 2.8.4 to fix ASM support. Thanks to Leon Nardella for
heads up. (Closes: #608510, LP: #695335)

[Bug 510881] Re: Implement signal strength for plain GSM

2011-01-07 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Marking Invalid -- I know for a fact that some devices report garbage
for signal strength. There may be other pieces missing, but I also know
MM asks for strength regularly and NM-applet can display it (there are
definitely code paths to set the right icons). All this leads me to say
it's already implemented.

FWIW, gsm-3g-full was mentioned in the related bug, and is the icon that
usually shows up here on my system (though I am right next to an
antenna). There's also a screenshot in the related bug which shows the
gsm-3g-high icon loaded, so it looks like things are somewhat working,
too.
