[Bug 695283] Re: GParted resets label after partition resizing
It would appear that something went wrong in the resizing process. If you happened to save the gparted_details.htm log file then we might glean a clue as to what happened. The images you attached indicate that the file system is FAT32, so I am not surprised that the e2label command failed. e2label is for ext2/ext3/ext4 file systems only. Do you have a Windows computer available to you? If so it would be good to run Windows chkdsk on the file system. If you do not have Windows available then you might try the same command that gparted uses to repair FAT32 file systems: sudo dosfsck -a -w -v /dev/sdb1 Where /dev/sdb1 is the device path to the FAT32 file system you wish to repair. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/695283 Title: GParted resets label after partition resizing -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 580295] Re: Alt-F2 not working
This definitely is a problem that needs to be solved. But I am wondering: Why go through all the trouble and introduce a new program when the perfect solution is already there? In unity we already have a wonderful application launcher: The applications lense in the dash. Would linking Alt-F2 to this lense not serve exactly the same purpose while avoiding an extra program? There might be some adjustments necessary, but these seem only minor. There already is instant searching for example. Thanks for reporting this issue and making Ubuntu better! I was able to reproduce this bug in Ubuntu Natty by running vrms with virtualbox-guest-additions installed. [Bug 565058] Re: Lucid: hotplugging Huawei E220 doesn't load 'option' module
I am on Ubuntu 10.10 using a Huawei E160 USB modem and experience the same bug. (Note that in lsusb the E160 is shown as 12d1:1003 and is named E220/E270, so apparently it is technically identical to the E220.) If I have my device plugged in when booting, it shows up in the network manager applet ready for use. If I plug it in only after booting, I have to manually issue the 'modprobe option' command to get it working. I have both usb-modeswitch and usb-modeswitch-data installed, but I did not see any effect on said behavior with manually running usb- modeswitch. What I have found out respectively can confirm so far: If I have the device plugged in at boot time, among others the modules usb_storage, option, usb_wwan and usbserial are loaded. If I plug in the device later, only the usb_storage module gets loaded, any only with the command modprobe option the other three modules (option, usb_wwan and usbserial) get loaded, to achieve the same list of loaded modules as when booting with the device already connected. If it helps I can attach all data similar to those Bartosz has sent or any other system output if requested. uname -a: Linux burkhard-desktop 2.6.35-25-generic #44-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 21 17:40:48 UTC 2011 i686 GNU/Linux cat /proc/version_signature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-25.44-generic 2.6.35.10 lsb_release -a: No LSB modules are available. [Bug 718248] [NEW] Hibernate fails on Dell Inspiron 8600 with Maverick
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager This is basically the same as bug #298804 Hibernate fails on Dell Inspiron 8600 with Intrepid, but to submit my apport data it seems to want me to start a new report. Just installed 10.10 Maverick on my Dell Inspiron 8600 dual-boot with Windows XP. Suspend is fine, but it will not hibernate. This is not an nVidia proprietary driver problem--I have the identical problem when I roll back to the non-proprietary driver. When I try to hibernate, it get the same message Marek got: [*.] pm_op(): pci_pm_thaw + 0x0/0x50 returns -16 [*.] PM: Device :00:00.0 failed to thaw: error -16 except that I get 0x80 where he got 0x50. After a little while the screen goes to a half-tone gray and the machine powers down. Unlike Marek, when I restart I get no errors, just a standard boot. Other than that, I love Maverick! [Bug 718258] [NEW] Slow burning, cannot expell the medium and 30+ minutes to create a (useless?) checksum
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: brasero I've asked brasero to burn a data DVD. 3 GB of data over a 4.4GB DVD-R medium. It was not able to burn a 16x DVD-R medium with a 8x DVD+/-R/RW (HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20L) but at 2x, while K3B on the same hardware was able to do it (before i dumped KDE for other problems). Then, after finishing the burning, it stayed idle for 30+ minutes in calculating checksum. System load was almost 0. I cancelled this step and soon after brasero said it was not able to expel the medium.
