[Bug 799623] [NEW] Incorrect generated logrotate file

2011-06-20 Thread Javier Amor Garcia
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: clamav-daemon

Version: 0.96.5+dfsg-1ubuntu1.10.04.2

Sometimes the logrotate conf file (/etc/logrotate.d/clamav-daemon) is
incorrectly generated, with a '0' instead of
'/var/log/clamav/clamav.log'. See the attached file for a example of bad
configuration.

I suspect the root cause is in the clamav-daemon.postinst script. In the
'configure' case the logrotate conf file could be generated and I feel
the variable 'LogFile' is with a bad value thus printing like 0 in
the conf file.

Cheers,
Javier

I see this report is for an AMD machine; it might possibly be related to

in that case there was no kvm-clocksource has been installed message

Re: [Bug 790789] Re: KVM Guest freezing following Ubuntu update

2011-06-20 Thread Royston Carter
Seb,
I am afraid I shied away from trying the kernel that Serge
suggested. This is my main (and only) machine and I did ot feel
sufficiently confident with backing out the alternate kernel. I have a
workaround for the problem by adding kernel parameters to instruct the
guest to use clock=acpi_pm, this fixes the issue. I did attempt to
create a new Trixbox image on my machine and this exhibits the same
problem. I'm surprised that more people do not suffer from this issue
but in truth it is only the Trixbox (Centos 5.4 I believe) image that
has caused me problems.

Regards

Roy

[Bug 799711] [NEW] o2cb[11796]: ERROR: ocfs2_controld.pcmk did not come up

2011-06-20 Thread HenningMalzahn
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ocfs2-tools

The system is an asymmetric-opt-in cluster. Following this
HowTo:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ClusterStack/LucidTesting#Pacemaker.2C_drbd8_and_OCFS2_or_GFS2

I'm able to start the DRBD resource and the DLM but when trying to start the
resource
cloneO2CB the following is logged in syslog:

o2cb[11796]: ERROR: ocfs2_controld.pcmk did not come up
ocfs2_controld[12870]: Unable to connect to CKPT: Object does not exist

The same thing happens when trying to test the o2cb script manually using:
/usr/sbin/ocf-tester -n oc2b /usr/lib/ocf/resource.d/pacemaker/o2cb

Found the following document while trying to gain more information about the
error:
http://www.drbd.org/users-guide/s-ocfs2-enable.html

After creating the configuration file mentioned in that document and executing
dpkg-reconfigure ocfs2-tools

the following is logged on the console
Loading stack plugin o2cb: OK
Setting cluster stack o2cb: OK
Starting O2CB cluster ocfs2: OK

Leaving the file /etc/ocfs2/cluster.conf mentioned in the LinBit document in
place
or deleting it does not help starting the o2cb resource as Pacemaker resource.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So long

Henning Malzahn

The upgrade actually failed because it failed to stop libvirt. Can you

[Bug 790789] Re: KVM Guest freezing following Ubuntu update

2011-06-20 Thread Serge Hallyn
@Roy,

understandable. I'm going to mark this bug 'fix released' as I assume
it is not found in oneiric. I'll mark it as wontfix for lucid. The
explanation for that is that (a) it has an effective workaround, which
makes it low priority by definition, and (b) low priority bugs don't get
SRU'd.

Thanks very much for the workaround. It will help out other users!

[Bug 599342] Re: Temporary failure in name resolution

2011-06-20 Thread Serge Hallyn
@Mark

please give a more complete scenario so we can reason through it. For
whom is one of hte guests the DNS server? If the *host* is a guest of
the DNS server on one of its kvm guests, then I think the answer is that
libvirt doesn't support that.

regarding comment #20, could you give a little more detail? which
proposed stanza should be reconsidered? I'll add it to the oneiric

[Bug 799660] Re: package libvirt-bin 0.7.5-5ubuntu27.13 failed to install/upgrade

2011-06-20 Thread Daniele Chermisi
The package is marked as istalled, so apt-get dist-upgrade doesn't
install the package libvirt-bin. So I remove and reinstall the package
libvirt-bin, but the installation process still ends with the same

installation process stops with an error.

I notice that the post installation process executes the command located in
/etc/gdm/PostSession/Default
Is this the correct behavior?

This is the command I used to erase and install the package

Could you please look at this thread:

Do you have all IP tables related modules loaded when libvirt-bin is

libvirt-bin is started?

@Boris,

I'm sorry, it's not clear to me what the actual bug is. In comment #2,
step 4 doesn't appear to make sense. Could you please explain again how
i can reproduce this and what to expect, using unmodified oneiric

[Bug 795427] Re: Upgrade Libvirt up to 0.9.1 generates new bug with Virt-Manager

2011-06-20 Thread Boris Derzhavets
4. Try same install again with Natty as guest ( for example ) on /dev/sdb7.
Virt-manager instead of loading from CD as usual will load from bootable
device,
which is actually supposed to be overwritten.

If i will previously format as ext4fs /dev/sdb7 or it is initially clean
everything will be going as expected.
Something is broken in order of testing devices before start installation
in virt-manager and in virt-install also.

[Bug 799166] Re: KVM guests freeze on an AMD-based host since it was upgraded to kernel 2.6.32-32

2011-06-20 Thread Seb James
Ok, running the guest with clock=acpi_pm added to the Linux command
line, whilst the host is running the 2.6.32-32 kernel has given me
stable behaviour for 20 minutes with constant CPU usage, so it very much
looks like this is a duplicate of bug 790789.

[Bug 731976] Re: SAMBA - Can't access Windows 7 computer via SAMBA

2011-06-20 Thread Michael Zverina
Update to #22

I actually resolved the problem by reinstalling Windows 7, and - far more
important - used Win7-computer-name instead of actual Domain Name to Login.
Probably this is the hole point.

I'm not sure if under XP the Domain Name *was* the Domain Name and not
the computer-name. However this whole thing (in my specific case) looks
very likely to be a windows-(or configuration) and not a SMB problem.

However if someone tries to connect using WORKGROUP or similar instead
of computer-name under domain field this will NOT work.

[Bug 599342] Re: Temporary failure in name resolution

2011-06-20 Thread Mark - Syminet
@Serge correct - for security (and portability) reasons, we've decided
to run ssh only and nothing else on the hosts - all other services run
on guests - so the host is using one of it's own guests as it's DNS
server. It's backup nameservers are on different hosts which are
usually up, so we never noticed this issue - but this time, they were
not available at the moment we rebooted. The result was all guests
failed to start.

For now, we've just updated /etc/hosts on each machine to make sure they
automatically resolve themselves even without nameservice - this seems
to be a decent workaround for now.

2011-06-20 Thread Nate Muench
I'm going to upload refreshed diffs/patches of my work as it is now.

First, notes:
* Everything is working fine, except the Num Lock won't turn on after logging
in.
* I've uploaded new packaging to my Virtual Test repo. When it succeeds, I'm
going to push Natty Package. For a trial Natty-to-Oneiric upgrade of the
package with Natty.
* I want to push this (the Proposal) to the main repo by (or after the release
of) Alpha 3 (which will be the July packaging). This assumes nothing major
changes (like the Toolbox (GUI) getting removed) for the June and July releases.
* This will allow me to do a clean install of my open-vm-tools packaging in
Alpha 2. And the afore mentioned test to see if the new packaging upgrades
successfully with Natty

Second, the refreshed package diffs (Part 1). These were done with my
working repo and the packaging in the Oneiric (not the Oneiric branch).
The Patches we're not applied.

[Bug 510587] Re: Bind/named does not initialize on boot due to missing IPv6 address

2011-06-20 Thread mibus
I have a near-identical issue. During boot, this gets logged:

named[770]: could not get query source dispatcher (2001:::::xxx#0)
named[770]: loading configuration: address not available
named[770]: exiting (due to fatal error)

Manually starting BIND fixes the issue.

This is the named.conf line in question:
query-source-v6 address 2001:::::xxx port *;

I believe it's because the IPv6 address is marked 'tentative' while the
IPv6 duplicate-address-detection process is in progress, and BIND is
starting before it's finished.

[Bug 799997] Re: error happen when using virsh to start a vm internal error cannot generate AppArmor profile

2011-06-20 Thread Jamie Strandboge
Thank you for using Ubuntu and reporting a bug. Unfortunately, the
version of libvirt you are using is not a supported version and
therefore I am marking this bug as Invalid. If you can reproduce this in
a supported version of libvirt, please feel free to reopen, giving
detailed instructions on how to reproduce the bug.

If you are going to go this route, I recommend removing any unofficial PPAs
from your apt sources, then performing:
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get remove --purge libvirt0
$ sudo apt-get install libvirt-bin

(the supported version of libvirt on Ubuntu 10.10 is currently
0.8.3-1ubuntu18). Please note that performing the above will remove
existing VM definitions as well as any changes to your libvirt
configuration in /etc (which was the intent-- to start with a clean
slate).

[Bug 795427] Re: Upgrade Libvirt up to 0.9.1 generates new bug with Virt-Manager

2011-06-20 Thread Serge Hallyn
I can't reproduce this in a oneiric vm, using /dev/vdb with lucid as the
preinstalled guest. Can you show the /proc/$$/cmdline of the kvm
process started by libvirt, as well as 'virsh dumpxml n' where n is the
id of the running domain, when you are booting the VM the second time,
and expecting to see it boot from cd but seeing it boot from hard disk?

(It's possible that /dev/vdb1 versus /dev/vdb might make a difference, or more
likely that ide will make the difference)

[Bug 799605] [NEW] pam-auth-update creates a 'common-account' that fails with cached logins

2011-06-20 Thread Nick Piggott
Public bug reported:

Running Ubuntu 11.04 on a Dell Mini 1018 Netbook

On a system running LDAP, Kerberos and Cached Credentials, pam-auth-
update creates a 'common-account' file that will always fail if the
machine uses cached credentials (presumably because it's offline).

The relevant lines from the common-account file:

# here are the per-package modules (the Primary block)
account [success=1 new_authtok_reqd=done default=ignore]pam_unix.so
# here's the fallback if no module succeeds
account requisite pam_deny.so
# prime the stack with a positive return value if there isn't one already;
# this avoids us returning an error just because nothing sets a success code
# since the modules above will each just jump around
account requiredpam_permit.so
# and here are more per-package modules (the Additional block)
account requiredpam_krb5.so minimum_uid=1000
account [success=ok new_authtok_reqd=done ignore=ignore user_unknown=ignore
authinfo_unavail=ignore default=bad]pam_ldap.so minimum_uid=1000
# end of pam-auth-update config

This will always fail if the machine is off-line, because pam_unix.so
will fail and cause the module to end with the next line which makes
pam_deny.so a requisite.

As a patch, I have commented out all of common-account except the line
requiring pam_permit.so, but this is unsatisfactory.

Two solutions could be proposed:
* Write a common-account file that will pass if all the component modules fail
due to the user or the service being absent. That is - only fail if it is
explicitly required to fail, rather than failing if pam_unix.so fails because
the user is in ldap or cached.
* Implement a (dummy?) account method in pam_ccreds and add that into the
relevant profile for cached credentials in pam_auth_update

[Bug 791752] Re: Can not toggle Display to External only mode

2011-06-20 Thread Keng-Yü Lin
Some bisecting jobs are done, it seems the following commit fixed the
external mode issue.

commit 47a05eca72991039e788b25232061f9c9df9ec23
Author: Jesse Barnes jbar...@virtuousgeek.org
Date: Mon Feb 7 13:46:40 2011 -0800

drm/i915: disable PCH ports if needed when disabling a CRTC

Disable any PCH ports associated with a pipe when disabling it. This
should prevent transcoder disable failures due to ports still being on.

[ickle: introduce *_PIPE_ENABLED() macro]

I put the kernel packages at
http://people.canonical.com/~lexical/bugs/lp791752/ for anyone to test.
